Building A Giant Edge Sander | EP3, Building the Work Table

- Now that the linear rails are all in place, its time to create the adjustable work table for my homemade Edge Sander. First I need to connect the linear rails together to allow them to move up and down together. This will ensure that the table remains level. I'll then make the tabletop by tracing the outline of the sander onto some MDF and cut it out with my jigsaw. After duplicating that piece and gluing them together, I have a very solid work table that will remain nice and flat.

Yes Laminate. Awesome build Jeff.
Thanks Buddy. I think the laminate will be cool.
Catching up. This is an awesome tool to have the shop. Your adaptation/modification has been fun to watch!
Thanks, This was a super fun project to put together. I love this kind of stuff.
It's going well Jeff, yes to laminate. You really should take more care of yourself, all that dust and no mask. Stay well.
Thanks Andy. For some strange reason, I didn't think it would be that dusty. I'm not sure why I ever thought that. Lol. At least it was outside so the wind blew some of the dust away.
@@homebuiltshop I am on a bit of a soapbox mission. After covid damaged my lungs and making it hard for me to breath, I realised how quickly life can change and I dont want others struggling to breath jf it can be avoided. On a lighter note I loved the look of surprise on your face when you offered up the candy stick for thhe first time,it was like you had resigned yourself to endless try, adjust and retry. We all know that you are good at what you do and I for one had no doubt it was going to go well.
Very good build.
Thank you!
Awesome video. That big white building, in the background, should be your shop. Just tell neighbor it has been claimed thru imminent domain. :D
Lol, I'm not disagreeing with you.
Laminate!!👍👍
I think that's going to be what I do.
Awsome build. Really like to have one for my shop.
Thanks, Its going to be a fun tool to have.
You might want to wield some gussets on the underside of the plate you wielded to the angle iron to help insure it stays level with the angle iron and doesn't get bent upwards at the wield.
I thought about that but once the table is screwed down, it can't really bend up as far as I can tell. I'll add a gusset if I see it bending.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
6:16 🤣 you sound surprised
Sometimes I surprise myself. Lol.
I would add the black laminate.
Thanks Scott, The laminate is now ordered.
@ I use it all the time, its non-stick, materials slide easily, which will be perfects for the belt sanding tale.
Shouldn’t it be a J for Jeff
True, I guess it is a J. I guess I'm just in the Holiday Spirit.
