This video is part 1 of how to replace a rear wheel bearing on a Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. This video demonstrates one way of removing the rear axle bearing without using a press. If you're following this video to replace your wheel bearing, take your time and be sure to use caution beating the old axle bearing out of the hub assembly. These repair instructions will be the same or similar to many other ATVs and UTVs. Please keep in mind that my videos are shade tree mechanic style and a dealership repair may involve other steps and torque specifications. The four-wheeler in this video was a 2003 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. I'll be posting a video on how to replace the front wheel bearings on this same ATV soon.

Next time loosen the center hub nut BEFORE you remove the wheel, and the machine is on the ground. No need for any pipe methods, etc.

It did. Couldn't find the correct sized deep socket to use to drive out the old ones so I used a 2 5/16 inch hitch ball. Not the easiest but it worked. Thanks Again!

my kawasaki is a 2003 model, it has been through hell and back many times and the front bearings are still good. they roll freely and do not slop. i only had to take the axle nut off to get to the bearings inside the drum while i was checking the brake pads

If you heat up the hub with a propane torch just a little bit that bearing will pop out with one smack! To install the bearing again a little heating of the hub and the bearing will literally slide in without any force needed!

This is my plans for the weekend - excellent video. I think even I can pull this off! (I went the easy way and got a press, but good to know there are other viable options)

***** Well, that was the plan - the carrier didn't want to release the hub... Finally got them apart and now 1/2 the bearing is stuck on the carrier side - balls exposed on hub. I think this just got expensive.

PLEASE REPLY. My Polaris Trailboss 330 has some problems with the bearings. It sounds like dirt or mud in the bearings in the rear end. Is it some sort of axle bearings or wheel bearings?

А почему ты просто не нагрел ступицу?
Подшипник сам оттуда выпадит и также легко встанет новый! Век живи век учись)))

What size socket do you use to punch out the old bearings and is it normal for both rear bearings go out before the front

Have you considered an electric impact on all bolted ? Question, Using a pipe on ratchet could it possibly add to much torque causing it to break? I am a novice, trying to learn. Thank you.
