WOODLANDS
Sorry for the short ride, this lift was quite busy and I didn’t have the time to do a proper take of it.
Now this is a rare TOSHIBA as it comes with dual language voiceovers! Dual language voiceovers are very rare in Singapore since it’s practically not needed and I’ve never heard one before! This is also my first time hearing it in Malay! Even in Malaysia I’ve never heard a lift that has Malay voiceovers and I’m sure some lifts do but as far as the ones that I’ve ridden, I’ve not come across one.
As this is a mosque and majority of Singapore’s Muslim residents are Malay, it’s a nice touch that the mosque lift comes with Malay voiceovers though it is unnecessary but still a nice touch indeed. Not too sure about the origins of this voiceover whether it’s from TOSHIBA itself or a third party recording.
Some translation:
• Naik ke atas - Going Up
• Turun ke bawah - Going Down
• Aras - Floor
• Satu, dua, tiga, empat, lima - 1 to 5
• Pintu akan ditutup - The doors will be closing.

At simedarby Brunsfield tower in oasis square in Malaysia, the OTIS 3200/Gen2 has the Malay voiceover too
I remembered triple language voiceovers were really common when I went to Hong Kong. The elevators had voiceovers in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, though those were just generic ones.
I wished they had this alongside Chinese and Tamil announcements on MRT station lifts. But guess it's going to annoy everyone and the announcements can cut out fast unless you want a long queue of lift announcements.
One Glarie elevator in Penang actually has Malay voiceovers, it was filmed by ZJ EleVids
Nice I just went to watch the video and that voiceover there sounds so tired! Interestingly that one only announced in Malay unlike this one here which announces in both English & Malay.
Possible that it may have been requested as a custom. There are some lifts with unique, custom voiceovers
Possible!
Btw toshibas from 2010s in sg is rare so congrats for the find. Also some newer toshibas in PPR flats in malaysia do have malay voiceovers
Yup, the lift my condo uses is a TOSHIBA from 2014 and it’s interesting that the newer versions of such lifts are considered “rare” than their older counterparts.
@@TransportationONLY My sch also have such things. Unfortunately a lot of 2020s Toshibas came from mode and not need installations haisss
JTC’s just gotten a mass batch order of these 2010s Toshibas.
Now even Jurong has a JTC with Toshiba.
And seems Toshiba don’t want do huge capacities, so they give to IFE to do instead.
@@ZHD1987E what a shame that TOSHIBA doesn’t seem to be doing cargo. I wonder how are FairPrice Hub’s Cargo lifts like
I think those are Toshiba too…
HDB Lift EM Voice
Yes some EM Services lifts do have this voice but you can find this voice on HITACHI, some Schindlers and TOSHIBAS’s and even KONE’s.
Someone pointed out that this was done by Chan Hui Yih, known for making the announcements on the MRT.
@@ZHD1987E Really?
@@TransportationONLY This seems unconfirmed, but it does sound somewhat similar...
How about sigma? They have this voice too.
Chan Hui Yuh Announcement

Sigma announcement
Btw Masjid Darul Ghufran also have
Wow nice! What lift do they have there?
@@TransportationONLY 1 the cab size is bigger than this. Another one has 2 entrance facing each other.
Sadly the bigger one's voiceover is disabled last Sunday

@@TransportationONLYmasjid wilayah and masjid darul use toshiba brand
@@TransportationONLYoh and i forgot to meantion that masjid istiqlal in indonesia uses the same model toshiba as the one in masjid wilayah too!the only difference is the masjid istiqlal use english voice only
Meanwhile in Indonesia, elevators with voice announcement of our own mother language is pretty much almost non exist. Only a handful of elevators that I know speak Bahasa Indonesia, and so far only one that I know speaks both English and Bahasa. Most other elevators only speak English.
I think having that dual language voiceover isn’t a compulsory thing even if that’s what the language the majority of the country speaks, for the most part users will just refer to the numbers on the indicator to know their floor since numerals we use are pretty universal and everyone should be able to understand it.
The only elevator in Indonesia I recall riding with such a voiceover was Plaza Indonesia’s Mitsubishi in June 2010 before they were removed.
Plus do note some of those Indonesian voiceovers like that Hyundai filmed by NP1C actually came from Google and not the elevator manufacturer themselves.
@@LiftandTrainDude2003 Bugger that they've had their announcement removed, but at least the Sigmas at Plaza Blok M still retain their original announcement from 1990.
@@idl3k_elev on the other hand Hong Kong's much more common triple language voiceovers are just generic ones though there is a vintage SABIEM that has a sign written in Filipino next to it.
@@LiftandTrainDude2003 Quite a few elevators in Hong Kong have such signs. I've seen a vintage gated Schindler in North Point with signs written in Chinese, English, Tagalog and Indonesian.
