    I love Audrey’s accent colors, Kelly’s dresser (my dream dresser if you’re a longtime follower), and Michelle’s overall feel. What do you think? Who designed it best?!!

    Michelle had the best look. She had good balance in use of color, although the color is very subtle. I would imagine Julie's husband would appreciate it too. She also brought in more plants, which is important to bring an element of the outdoors inside to complete the look and give the room life. The standing plant helps anchor the space. I also like that she remembered to add a bench for seating at the foot of the bed.
    Good job Michelle. 😁

    My favorite is the last one Kelley's design. I love the rug, wood tones and textures, and green wall. 😊 I typically don't select a light colored or white rug(Michelle's)as it is difficult to keep clean. Especially with kids. 😉

    • @JulieKhuu
      @JulieKhuu  Год назад +2

      If the rug is 100% wool, stains and spills will wash out and look brand new again 😍

      @@JulieKhuu True. But a white or really light rug might not hold up as well and eventually get ground in stains that persist even after a professional cleaning. At least my Mom's wool oriental rug was that way, but then it was lighter colored. It was really durable though. But she had dogs so they tracked mud on it. (We live in the Northern region which gets snow. Rain, etc)Took it to a professional cleaner who placed it on special racks, etc. Could not get it looking like new. Better, but not new. I think as they age and wear that is normal. She got rid of it. She wanted a new style anyway.

    I loved Audrey's bedroom design the best, but I confess, I am a pink floral girl through and through. I need the lighter walls, and color. As a nurse for 50 years, although I love green, the green walls reminded me the hospital green of the fifties. All the bedrooms were serene and tasteful, and beautiful. The furniture is lovely. I love the interpersonal dynamic of your group.

    👏👏👏You really can’t loose with any of the designs! Personally, I feel that Julie was absolutely spot on with her choices and the room projected the sense of peace that she was seeking in a bedroom. The tapestry was stunning and certainly gave a sense of elegance that has transcended over the years. Admittedly, I am a little biased because green is the predominant color in my home.

    I'd mix the pieces. I think a dark wall treatment is so relaxing and that's the main purpose of the bedroom, so I'd go with the moody dark green. And if the colors work, I'd go with the rug you selected which has several shades of greens and isn't too bright. It's elegant (one of your styles), a vintage touch, luxurious on your feet, etc. The full pkg and that's important in your bedroom. I think you can't over emphasize the importance of the right rug in any area of the home. No one mentioned the possibility of reupholstering the bed. I heard it's several years old, so it might be an option from my perspective, but I'm doing this without an actual mood board here. So, thus far I've got a light colored bed, dark sexy moody restful walls with that healing nurturing growth oriented green vibe nestled into your jungle cave on a clean, bright super soft nest over a silky soft elegant rug. But I don't want the room to be too dark, so I'm choosing the nightstands with rounded corners in the dark wood that speaks to the floors and gives the attention to the cozy best bed, but topped with the crisp light stone, again bringing in another natural element, texture, and continuing a line of bright color from end to end along the focal wall, giving a long horizontal line for the eye to follow, as well as brightening the dark corners , expanding the sense of spaciousness along that wall. It's especially important when the whole family is pilling up onto the bed together. You want to feel like there's room for everyone, all are welcome here. And I think the light table tops help to find things on the table late at night if you're searching for a bedtime story, a water carafe, reading glasses, alarm clock, etc in the dark. I think it makes it more practical, as well as more beautiful, and great Feng Shui. Now lighting is very important. No one got an adjustable sconce. I hope you at least got dimmers! No one mentioned the ceiling or overhead light, or window treatments... Or a side chair. Is there no space for a chair? Afraid it'll be a dumping ground for dirty clothes? 🤔 So, I think a bedroom isn't finished without a chair. Or at least a bench. One room offered a wonderful bench. That's great. Color's don't always read correctly across digital platforms, but on my phone it read a smidge too cool. I'd like to keep it in a tone that plays warm against the cool green walls and carpet. I'm torn between two sconces - the transparent onyx, or the crackle glass. Both are elegant and bring in a natural element. But even as I'm writing, I think the stone over the glass because glass says fragile and young kids still share the space. Also crackling can read emotionally as a negative chi - I think it's better in a dinning room with candles reflecting through the glass. So, my final choice would be the onyx. It also carries the lightness across the focal wall to contrast with the relaxing deep green, and it supports the theme of nature growing and protecting the family nestled in the luxury bedding. Across the room, I'd go with the curved corners on the wonderful dressers that is not wood. It carries the lightness across the room, carries the softness of the curves, but it's not matchy. While reclining in bed, the dresser becomes a focal point and this one is the best. It's not so loud that it steals the show from the main focal wall, but it's bold enough to be hold it's own when you're at the focal wall looking across the way. It's lux, it's light against the dark, it's sexy but also durable, useful, the whole package.
    As for windows, there's information I'd need that I don't currently have access to. I'm thinking a simple velvet or silk matching green to the walls, floor to ceiling with dark wood rod and finials that speak to the sconces in onyx or gold. I'd have a highly textured shade, with light peeking through creating a dreamy , ever changing atmosphere, adding more layers of nature, the natural passage of time and it's precious ephemeralness, the drama of the light playing with the cavern of the dark room, and keeping it balanced between outside and in. I'd have it in a midtone wood reeds, or bamboo, or woven grass, to avoid matching the darkness of the walls and floors, but not so bright as to compete with the light tones of the bedding and dresser. I want the window to add supportive drama, not steal the show - until it's opened up on a lovely morning view into the garden - bringing the natural green spaces into the green room, enticing you to rise and shine and explore the beautiful world outside the nest.
    What have I missed? Bedding. I like a mix of bamboo sets, and linen sets to change between seasons. I like the crisp silkyness of linen in summer, and the soft velvetiness of bamboo in winter. But the top of the quilt or duvet, I might go with a slightly shinny or slubbed silk. Again, I like to have two colors or more to play with and suit my mood. One the color of the walls, the other the color of the bed, and sometimes something just for fun that inspires me. I always feel unsafe if I don't have at least two, just Incase one of the kids gets the flu at school and suddenly vomits. A large bed topper takes time to clean and dry so you need something for that time. But also, I like to choose my mood or have the power to brighten or darken the space according to the season and how it changed the natural light available in a room.
    Artwork. I like tapestry, I do. That one seemed not quite right. Too loud and contrasting for a relaxing nights sleep. I'd go for a very green pastoral scene, more horizontal, wider than the bed but not as wide as the nightstands. And I'd inset it into a niche with gentle led lighting or a top light perhaps as you would for any large piece of art on a wall. Creating another layer of lighting to brighten or dim , go between private sexy time to family play time. I might even set a timer to brighten at sunrise as a gentle alarm encouraging circadian rhythm to help everyone get their best night's sleep. And last, I like that option of a nearby extra blanket. In every family someone sleeps hot and another gets cold, so I'm a big fan of a spare blanket, especially between siblings who all too often can get competitive, steeling the covers 😅 I think I'd set it by the extra wide reading chair with a reading lamp and side table. So the girls can curl up with mom or dad, learn life lessons through stories and talk about life's big issues in the safety of this cozy room full of warmth, nature, luxury, and beauty.
    As for the ceiling. 🧐 I might go with a burnished antiqued gold. I generally prefer shiny ceilings in the dining room, but something not too bright, but a soft touch of light bouncing around, warming up the cool tones. Or maybe a wallpaper texture. I'd have to see the room to decide a favorite

    This is so difficult to make a decision! How about a 4 bedrooms! Love the lime wash from Michelle, love Julie’s rug and scones, loved Kelly’s night stands. Loved Audrey’s art work and scones, the art just spoke to me. Best of luck to Julie! The tapestry also draws me in.😅

    What an awesome team you have there, Julie! I liked Michelle's mood board but I would swap that wall art for the tapestry in your mood board and add color-blocked green-brown curtains to tie in with the palette of the tapestry. And if it were for me, I would put fabric sconces instead of glass ones just to feel safer with kids around. This was such an enjoyable video and I bet you're further spoilt for choice now. Excited to see what you finally come up with.

    Julie, subscriber here, wondering if you could do a video on noise reduction? Just bought a nice townhouse close to a hospital in San Diego, but helicopters headed to the hospital at night can really disturb sleep. Plan to change to triple pane windows. Suggestions for other window treatments and perhaps change to carpet? Anything else? Thank you.
