Hi from Indiana :) I am 45 and when I was in high school I went on a few mission trips and I gotta say the people I met in tiny villages in Honduras and Panama were the happiest people I ever met!!! They had literally nothing but they sure had smiles on their faces and were so welcoming! I learned in my teens to be happy with very little because of those wonderful people :)

The same happy people I met in Cuba last year. They have nothing but they adore life, sing sings, smile and share the love for life.

At the time, Ethiopia was in a great famine and it was ALL OVER America's news. This project filled with popular American musicians, was done to raise money and awareness to feed hungry people which it did. All of the proceeds went to feed the hungry. I still get a warm heart when seeing this all these years later. ❤

Zippy! Putri Ariani !❤️❤️❤️❤️ But for real, this song is a benefit for famine in Africa back in 1985, it was a song created by Lionel Ritchie and Micheal Jackson, in an indirect response to the “ UK song “ Do They Know It’s Christmas “ which was first created for famine in Africa. This song was recorded after the American Music Awards, when those who got the call showed up , and it all took place through the night and into the morning. Like others may have said, there is a new documentary about it on Netflix called “ The Greatest Night In Pop” and there is also an original 1985 50 +minute documentary about USA For Africa on RUclips.

Wow! I'm 55 and I can't even begin to tell you the influence MTV had on my generation. They promoted us to vote with their Rock the Vote events and promoted causes such as these to get people involved in helping others and promoted people to help the AIDS epidemic.

You put on USA for Africa, not against, you don't recognize the artists so far 5:10, and then you start complaining about the one thing the video is doing - recognizing the value of Africa.... I had to stop this madness
