    Last year, I built a gaming PC from inexpensive parts. When it came time to decide on a GPU, I looked at my budget, and decided that I wanted a card with decent gaming performance, AV1 encoding, and a moderate amount of VRAM. Of all the $200 options, of which there was ONE, I bought an ARC A750. It runs the games I play without issues. Not the card for everyone, but that is part of the fun of building computers. Software and feature subscriptions should be illegal unless there is an option to get unlimited access for a one time fee of 24 or so monthly subscription fees.
    The worst I saw so far is BMW requiring a subscription for heated seats. So you had to pay a monthly fee to keep you butt warm in a car you own. After a public outrage they had to take that back. It was quite a PR disaster for them.

    I have different thought. Moores law is slowing down, GPU's and CPU's become limited by their power consumption. Performance gains between generations of hardware becomes minimal. And when industry stops developing new technologies - anyone can enter the market using same silicon factories. Its like car industry: at first they were a rare luxury, but now any coutry can produce their own car. And GPU manufacturers will folow same steps: planned degradation with minimal repairability to force you buy more.

    The worse monopoly these tech giants have (that NO ONE TALKS ABOUT!) is the monopoly on talented people who can build these amazing products. Without these people, there won't be any competition. The engineers at NVidia (and other tech giants) should leave the company and work together to create an open-source version of the product (or simply non-subscription version). The issue is: can you really tell someone, who has grinded through the education system with flying marks, crammed way more knowledge into the brain than that poor organ is ever evolved to take, and worked tirelessly just to get to the current position, to just pack up and leave? And live in a matchbox eating cheap food, just to code day-and-night 'for the community'? Let's even ignore whether this type of people exists (in quantity that will matter). If you think you are on the right team, you've got to have an answer for this question.

      @@wikwayer - That is a deep thought. Yes, I can save myself by not buying, and finding another hobby until prices come down (and I did, I tried a gardening hobby for the last three years). But that is kind of the point of the Host’s video. If we all not buy, prices would / should go down. As I stated, you cannot save people from themselves. So, prices will not be dropping, and actually will be going up. Thus, we are all doomed when it comes to GPU prices. We won’t even go into the lack of competition aspects of this. So, when you say, “Forget about the “we” and you may save “yourself”, you are correct. Personally, I am giving up, and giving in after THREE to FOUR years of waiting for things to get better. I am considering an RTX 4090 purchase. “FTW”!

    GPUs are already subscription based, but you pay the subscription to the bank for the loan you took it to buy the overpriced GPU especially in not so wealthy parts of the world like Eastern-Europe. That future is already here and you don't have to time travel to 2030. Knock-knock. Good Morning guys!

      Hahaha. Saving up in Hungary for a GPU. Lowest GDP per capita in Europe with highest taxes in the world. You are so funny. We barely make it to month-month as an average worker here. 50-70%!!! of the paycheck goes in to food-housing and its the default here. Look up the median income. 13k/year is a baller paycheck here and a mid range GPU for example 4070 Ti Super costs 1200$ with 27% VAT[highest in the world](I just bought one) Yeah just save up... :DDDD We ain't having a life here in Eastern-Europe like you guys in first world countries. /rant over@@AlexWinExperiments

    as always, nvidia doesnt give a rats ass about budget gamers. if you spend 600+, then nvidia will happily provide you decent quality products with features and energy efficency. Below that it's AMDs and now a bit Intels territory. If you want a budget card for 1080p gaming they have the best value for pure fps performance across the board. But to cry out to Nvidia they should deliver better budget cards goes against their market strategy. They want the whales, they want the big fishes. If they get a guy to pay 600 for a 4070 super, AMD needs 2 buyers for a 6700xt (roughly speaking). That's marketing. So while you sit here and say "they are losing customers" which is technically right, they arent losing money. As long AMD and Intel arent delivering top GPUs with all features every game has to offer and heavily undercut Nvidia, none of them will ever push nvidia from their throne.

    but how much power would be needed to render images in a 2k monitor? i mean .... if every generation double their power then in one or two generations more we would have something so powerful that only bad optimized gamed would be the cause of bad graphics.

    • @Jellybean-fd7cx
      @Jellybean-fd7cx 6 месяцев назад

      Im convinced that they already have the tech of the next 5 generations already at least they just delay it to milk the customers as much as they can with marketing gimmicks and resolutions. The next milestone will be 4k 165hz, then 240, then 500, then we get something like DLSS again, then we jump to 8k 60hz and so on, but trust me they could already release most of these like RIGHT NOW and they will force you out of 2k resolution in the next 10 years, 100%.

    In regard of where Nvidia is heading and how they treat their AIBs, customers and youtubers I had to put my money where my mouth is and bought a Sapphire 7900xtx nitro+. It would just feel so weird and dirty knowing I supported Nvidia by buying something from them. For me it seems they are becoming one of those big global scumbag companies. Most casual gamers are not that interested in hardware I guess, so they wouldnt know this stuff (unless the prices are super high like rn), but if a company behaves in such a agressive monopolistic and anti consumer way, morality becomes a big factor in my decisionmaking for a purchase.

    By now, the 4060 and the 4070 easily should have been on top of the Steam chart. Nvidia literally didn't need the money from these GPUs. They needed the tension and the image to boost their AI business up to that sweet trillion and become a key player in the upcoming race. Gaming is previous gen to them. And, yeah, maybe they'll mellow a bit real soon, but I am glad they made me try AMD for a change (absolutely loving the 7800 XT, that being just my opinion of course). I really hope my next GPU could be from Intel, too, because it's fun not to get screwed as a gamer and to try different technology.

    Honestly, the only issue I have now with switching to AMD is the fact that they don't have an equivalent card to the 4090 in terms of raw performance (I barely use RT if at all). I've been waiting for AMD to put out a 4090 equivalent so I can purchase that and be done switching, but it seems they've all but dropped the high-end now. That would mean that I have no choice but to pick a 4090 instead, despite me not really wanting to, just because I want the best performance for raw game raster performance. It is truly depressing IMO. I have been waiting for so long now.

      Yeah man, 4090 is just stupid expensive. Imagine paying that much for a gpu, its a rip off. Just get a midrange card and upgrade next gen. But if you dont care about wasting money then go ahead i guess.

    • @x8jason8x
      @x8jason8x 6 месяцев назад +2

      What do you think you need a 4090 equivalent for? A 7900xtx user is objectively not getting any less fidelity than a 4090 user in 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999% of games... I don't understand this 4090 (or equivalent) obsession, truly.
      Y'all do realize you don't need more than 16gb for gaming right? For people that want to stream and play on the same rig, or multitask, a 7900xt or hopefully battlemage will do the job easily.
      If all you play is MFS and CP77, sure the 4090 is great. As long as it doesn't catch fire or crack from the absurd weight.

    Wow this video is TOTALLY FALSE. First, by gross income, its Nvidia 54% to AMD 46% with Intel down in the noise and not profitable. You forgot that the steam survey is a tiny slice of the GPU market, console sales are almost as large as total desktop GPU sales ... AMD owns that market ...

      But a video talking about the companies as a whole could be interesting. Where did you get those figures from? hopefully you can link a source

      I buy a GPU that’s best for my wallet, not for the performance. I paid about £400 for my RT 6750 XT OC which is ok, it does what I need. I am just a casual gamer, I don’t play to be competitive. I will not subscribe to a subscription service, I would rather scrap my pc than do that. It’s getting ridiculous, people’s spare cash is going down ⬇️, but they think nothing of putting up ⬆️the prices. You will see the sales of GPU’s start to decline.

    Regulators are always going after companies. Nothing new. And it doesn't mean that corporations do anything wrong. The government's always trying to get money so they can spend it.
    Nvidia actually has been the true underdog over the years. And you can hate me for saying that.
    AMD has CPUs gpus and consoles consoles amongst other server stuff.
    Intel the same.
    Nvidia has always had to be aggressive to stay on top. Otherwise, they would go under like many other companies have in the past.
    Now there's more nuance to it than just that. But that is the truth.
    Nvidia invested a lot of money in their technology and it paid off.
    Consumers don't really care about much of what goes on in the corporate world.
    They just want a product that works and does what they want it to do.
    And that would be RTX GPUs.
    It's funny how everyone's always talking bad about Nvidia.
    But no one ever talks about AMD having a monopoly on the consoles.
    And yeah handhelds don't count. But AMD has a lot of their chips in those too.
    The future is AI and subscription services. Ugghh.
