  • In part 1 of this Harmor Tutorial series we briefly go over many features Harmor has and is capable of performing. Harmor is an additive subtractive synth with up to 516 partials per voice!
    It has the standard effects such as Phaser, Distortion, Chorus, Delay, Reverb as well as a Global EQ and Local EQ and a built in compressor.
    There is so much to Harmor and much to go over in this series.
    The next video we will be talking about the Timbre section in Harmor.
    Mondays and Wednesdays look forward to the next part in the 'How To Use Harmor' series!
    If there are any questions you have, please drop them in the comments below and I'll do my best to address them in future videos as we embark on this journey of understanding the greatness that is Harmor!
    If you enjoyed this video or learned something from it, give the video a thumbs up and let me know, thank you so much for watching!

      Glad to hear it! Its a long course but if you can make it though it all, it will be worth it! Harmor can do amazing things!

    Thanks for the tutorial to Harmor. On this synthesizer, I was afraid to create any sound.
    It just looks complicated and scary in its own way :)

      You're very welcome! Once you're a good amount through this series, you're going to feel much more comfortable making sounds with this synth. It's an amazing one!

    Jon, your tutorials are such a blessing! I love that you take us through each step instead of a brief overall summary! Was just watching a movie yesterday and they had this awesome dissonant sound playing which really helped you to understand the chaos and terror of what was happening. It was freaky and I thought to myself, how did they create this sound since I am interested in sound design for films. And now I watch this and I see that I can make a similar sound by chaotically automating the prism parameter. Thank you!

      Super glad to hear that! And you definitely picked the right synth for those types of sounds. Harmor is great with those, not to mention harmors dual parts. Harmor has the capability to go as deep as you're willing to go. If you have any questions in the future, I'm always around!

    My favorite synth. Another small but HUGE thing you didn't touch upon, unison index mapping: The ability to offset just about anything depending on which of the unison voices it is.
    It can be found where it'll usually say Envelope, above where you draw, some other cool stuff there too.
    Absolutely amazing in combination with Harmonic Unison Pitch, which can be found on the right side of the bigger modulation menu next to the one that has the index mapping.

      Harmor is amazing!! It's been a while since I did this series and I believe I touched upon unison index mapping somewhere in the course, if it's not there it must then be in the harmor sound design Playlist. It's a great feature!! Thanks for the tips dude!!

    Watched a few minutes so far, this looks like it'll be super helpful. It'll be nice to figure out Harmor, but even then, there's no denying its GUI is a clusterfck.

    • @jonaudio
      @jonaudio  Год назад +3

      The course is pretty lengthy but it goes over all the stuff you need to know in harmor in bite size pieces.
      The interfaces of modern synths are so well designed and such a breeze to use, than using harmor can feel like everything is disorganized on the synth for sure. It's just one of those things where you spend enough time with it that you'll start to feel right at home with harmor.
      If you come across any questions, feel free to reach out anytime my man!

    Just bought FL Studio (Ableton user) and knowing Harmor by reputation took a look/listen at it. I was intrigued by the Overeffected preset. After watching the introductory video and browsing through the playlist (roughly estimated 3 hours) I wonder what makes the repetitive sound, in which part (and by that, which video (asking for shortcut😉) should I find that? I walked through all the setting, but don't recognize the crucial one, closest being the ENV tab (filter 1). What is the sound designing principle? Awesome channel, btw already learned a lot.

      Harmor is amazing! Theoretically if we know what the phase and amplide of all the partials then yes we could recreate that sound

    great tutorial.
    Question though ?
    I want to run my voice through Harmor I was thinking, before Halloween, about using “VB audio cable” or something like that, as the input from my mic.
    Then I would output to Harmor, after which I could put any Harmor effects on it in real time.
    Is that possible ???
    If so, I haven't figured it out yet.

    • @jonaudio
      @jonaudio  Год назад

      Thanks!
      As far as the input in real time to harmor goes, I don't believe harmor has the capability to do that. You would probably have to record your lines and load them into harmor, add the fx you want and save that as presets.

      Though you might not be able to do that via real time with Harmor I would suggest looking into the Patcher plugin in FL Studio. There's Patcher videos you might come across that might give you what you're looking for.
