Very good video. After doing lots of studies of his work there is so much to his work. The way he creates tension in his work is amazing. You're right though is watercolors are unbelievably luminous
im sooo glad that someone else is also VERY INTERESTED in his watercolor paintings!!!!! theyre literally the best thing to ever exist im incredibly jealous:)
I fully agree: it is often through what many consider minor works that we can see the greatness of these artists. I believe that the greater freedom of interpretation and the use of less elaborate techniques than oil has allowed the artist to make the most of his or her skills thus resulting in more spontaneous and personal works.
This is way off topic, but I don't know how else to let you know, because there aren't many comments yet. - I just learned that Dali did the smoke painting technique you showed a few weeks ago! There are probably more than this one, called Sfumato, done in 1972.
An exhibition of 18 of his Million Dollar Heiresses is coming to North London - Kenwood House - from May to October 2025. Tickets on sale soon. Get a plane over Clara.
The pomegranates in the book are misplaced. It needs to be orientated vertically, as seen in the museum. Only vertically it show‘s the gravity pulling at the branches. Sargent depicts reality and would not make this clear mistake as shown in the book.
