Hi Guys, if I call a lesson "easy", it's easy for all of you who can play some jazz and blues guitar, it doesn't mean it's easy if know three chords and know nothing about music theory. To play jazz guitar is an art and you need some effort to learn this, it's a hard road by the way . . .
These lessons have been a revelation to me. I've had several abortive attempts a learning Jazz improvisation . I'd learn some scales and modes but could never work out what the hell to do with them once I'd learned them. These lessons have lifted the fog. They are so clear in their presentation, they make what was once baffling to me now seem almost simple. Can't thank you enough!
Hi Folks, here is my new lesson in a funky jazz guitar style. As always the lesson comes with my "step by step" system. Every step includes two playing levels "easy" and "advanced". If you are a Blues player, then that's the right lesson for you to get a more jazzy sound in your blues playing. All the best and don't forget to practise . . .
I love your teaching concept from easy to advanced level all in the same video lesson. Anyone can jump on at a level they can play and build from there making your lessons perfect for anyone at any level. I am SO glad I found your channel. I once owned a Gibson ES-137 Custom and wish I had it back. They are surprisingly heavy though.
Bonjour, fantastique !!! une vrai Pédagogie vivante (sans parlote, sans embrouille) à nous de chercher et d'aller plus loin. Merci Achim Kohl pour votre disponibilité musicale et la bienveillance.
Fantastic customer support. I had an issue downloading a lesson after purchase. The issue was on my side yet Achim went above and beyond to help me. I have received the lesson and it is outstanding. Thank you Achim.
Hello. I’ve been a rock, metal player for 30 years so I know about arpeggios and such. I can do the shredding arpeggios with ease but I’ve always wanted to learn jazz. It’s a whole new monster. I love it. These lessons are amazing. Teaches perfectly for a guy like me. I know most of the arpeggio shapes but putting them into thong requires a new “jazz” skill. Don’t want a metal sound in a jazz song lol. Looking forward to applying this to my playing. Thank you!!
This is an incredible video and approach to teaching. While watching the video everything kind of "clicked" for the first time and I am starting to understand how improvisation is learned and played. Thank you.
I am an older person and have recently started playing the guitar. You have taught me a library of information just by trying to learn Sunny. Thank you very much young man.
Thank you so much Achim Kohl. I’ve been back and forth watching your RUclips channel for a long time now. I always enjoy listening to your playing. And thank you so much for taking the time to teach all of us who love music so much, especially guitar!
It's a very good instructional video. The only thing you need be4 watching this video is basic picking practice. Very good video for chord and melody understanding.
Thanks bro! Love it🤗💖 I tried to learn this song a few years ago but didnt have the jazz chops but had the groove!😖😆 Now I have both! Thankyou so much!😉👍🏽 GOD bless you🙏🏼🤗💖
De verdad agradecido por este aporte que hace a los estudiantes de guitarra, su método de enseñar es impecable, se que si estudio todo lo que Ud transmite podre tocar de manera profesional con lo hace Ud.
Some very cool stuff here. I always find it useful to go down to the bones and build up. Play some lines over and again with discipline. It's easy to riff and shred like crazy, especially when you've been doing it for a long time. It actually takes some concentration to get down to the bones.
Thank you for this lesson this is excellent I should have learned this 40 years ago but thank you for the good lesson thank you for the notes good for my gospel music any more teachers like you. 🎸🎶
A very precise and well organized lesson, a little question of interest, as a Bm7b5 the A note resolves to G# in the E7 , I often emphasize this resolution in my solo's. Do you do this too? or do you just force the G# arpeggio over both chords. Like to know your opinion, jazz greetings Vic.
Hi Vic, I do this too, but in this lesson I want to make things easy as possible, o.k. I know it's jazz improvisation and nothing is ever really easy. You can also watch my Sunny Solo video here on RUclips for my detailed improvisation: ruclips.net/video/OgElxkeKilI/видео.html&lc=UgxL7LkTVWuu5Sp0_Gl4AaABAg best regards Achim
This lesson is so cool! And also the different skill levels carefully introduced. Broken down perfectly! Thank you so much, really appreciated your work. Very cool stuff :-)
Just looking for Sunny, and found this. I don't even play guitar, but the tutorial is amazing. I do ukulele, and play this in a different key, but definitely can transfer some of it, at least, gives me some ideas.
It doesn't sound right to me on Bm7b5 to E7 passage. I'm experimenting Asus2 - Amajsus2 on 7th fret or Asus2 - E7 . Please share if you have other substitutions for these 2.
Thanks for a great lesson. I am probably like a lot of old guys been playing pentatonic for years but never understood a little of the theory. I now know minor pentatonic has the flat third and flat seventh and then just add in flat 5 for the minor blues scale! Also the chromatic approach and then using apparegio on the turnaround sounded cool ! One thing I have learned is scale formulas and chord construction are really key because once you get them down you can move them all over the fretboard .
Thank you for a clear easy picture of understanding Sunny. I have struggled with Jazz improvisation since I first heard Pat Martino, and you have a similar technique and sound.

Así... directo a la diana, sin rodeos ni tonterías, desmenuzando la música y relajando el tempo. Eso es lo que todos deseamos. Gracias, amigo!
