Oh my goodness! I have to fly the friendly skies next week of United and come back home on Delta the following week. This made me laugh in a horrible way at what to expect. It just keeps getting worse all the time, every day. I am so thankful for Dave's show and the funny people that co-host with him. They all keep me laughing even though it just gets even more awful every day.
I stayed in a hotel by a large lake in Texas and we decided to stop because we'd been driving for 12 hours. We were sleeping in bed when my wife nudged me because thought she saw something by our luggage. I turned the light on to see the clothes moving in her suitcase. She left her suitcase top open on the table and a rat climbed into her bag. It ran into the bathroom and disappeared after a second or two. Went in after it and couldn't find it. The lady at the desk told me the exact same thing as the bug story. "Well, it is the south and we're by the lake, so these things happen." They offered to give us another room, but we ended up driving 70 more miles to a larger town with a more reputable hotel at 2 AM.
I had to sign an NDA to keep from sharing my horror hotel story. My very expensive and swanky vacation was comped. 👌😎 I'm kinda wishing it would happen again.🤔 😂

I assume Dave won’t see this, but if you do, try probiotics! I have Ibs, and it used to be as bad as your describing. Like 2 years ago I was given strong antibiotics after getting an infection, and I took very strong probiotics starting a few weeks after that. My symptoms are now typically very mild to non existent. Only really have issues if I eat something that I know I shouldn’t. Elimination diets are also key to finding your biggest triggers. For me it’s dairy, and fructose.
I once went on a business trip to Williston, ND while working for Walmart. They put me up in a really nice hotel within walking distance to the store. And man oh man was I in the pits of alcoholism at the time. And my roommate was the biggest slob I have ever met in my life. It was a 3 month trip and I completely gave up on keeping that room clean about halfway through the trip. It was SO BAD. The dishwasher was full of moldy dishes my roommate wouldn't clean and there was trash EVERYWHERE. I felt so bad for the cleaning ladies that I gave them each $100. Needless to say I didn't work for Walmart much longer after that 😂
@Dave Landau IBS-D or IBS-C? IBS-D can be Bile Acid issues. You may need prescription colestipol, bentyl and lomotil. See if gets better with no coffee, no pepper or hot stuff and no butter, low fat, no dairy (basically eat a baked potato with lemon only for seasoning and water for example). I felt sorry for the person on the plane and of course the passengers. I’ve always had IBS but after getting my gallbladder removed, I have chronic diarrhea. ETA: Fatty meat is bad too and so are onions and peppers. If you eat any meat, you are likely to have an episode, or at least I am.

Matt, my wife is also OCD with germ fears. How did you get her to have therapy? I seriously have no idea how I would get my wife to go. I have tried with no success. At this point I feel like giving up but she is only developing more issues.
Matt’s wife here- the hardest part about going to therapy for me was finding one, so if you can take the legwork out of researching local therapists, making sure they’re on your insurance/ affordable, making sure they’re well reviewed, that might help. She also needs cognitive behavioral therapy; talk therapy does nothing for OCD. If she’s still reluctant to go, bribery! Promise her something if she goes! But at the end of the day she does have to be ready to change.

Acupuncture and massage might work extremely well actually as crazy as it sounds. Acupuncture can help rebalance hormones to calm someone down, and scalp and foot massage in particular can help regulate some hormones as well that can relieve anxiety

Strawberry Kefir is good, but it's so sour that you have to dump copious amounts of sugar in it. It practically kept me alive for a year.
