It took me a while to get it out there and was completely a nervous wreck at first but I think it did pretty well! Believe me when I saw 48 I was so happy but also wanted those other 2!!! It just wasn't gonna happen. and that is fine, I had fun building and running it and now I have a cool basher body for the lunchie when I convert it back over to "normal" fun mode!
@@AddamsPlayground yeah man, it's a little nerve-wracking when you see a CW01 passing 30mph! Lol! You did good though man, and your wife and the passer by in the black SUV made for some great commentary to add to the video. Thanks again for participating! 🤙
Thank you! I am glad it came home in one piece!! The body is fun and the theme fit perfectly with the craziness of the whole thing! I was also really happy with the 48mph, of course I was really hoping to find those other 2 out there but it was not to be. I am also glad the camera lady got all the crashes, especially the last one where it bounced off my truck, very well! I think I'll keep her!
Thanks Jeremey! It was fun out there! nerve-racking but fun! I was really happy to see that 48mph on the meter for sure! Of course I tried for the 50 but it wasn't in the cards! She did a good job as camera lady and I am really happy she caught the last wreck so well. It is funny now to see it bouncing off the truck but when it happened I was a but more concerned!! I was trying to ease on the brakes but it wasn't slowing fast enough and when I pushed a little hard it spun out and took a tumble! I think it was tired of hearing "well lets go one more time" and it wanted to go home!!
Awesome run Addam! You did a wonderful job on the build, with the Hot Wheels body on it's one of the best looking Speed Lunchies I've seen! But I feel your pain, these things are crazy to drive at high speed, when it goes straight it ain't too bad, but as soon as you touch the steering or brake, all hell lets loose! You showed some driving skill there my friend! I got the feeling you wanted to hit the big 5-oh! I was willing you on! Great entertainment, bud, well done! 😁👏👍
It was a ton of fun looking back but was nerve racking when driving! You are kind of just along for the ride and trying to convince it not to slam into anything and to stay on on its wheels!! After 30 it only take the slightest steering or bump to upset it! I did want to hit the 50mph mark but it wasn't going to happen. The gusty wind out there wasn't helping things but again, it was fun and I am very pleased with the results! When you do the conversion to kph it sounds way more impressive at 77kph so I can use that to boost the number!!! LOL!! We had a bunch of laughs and some butt puckers as well out there!! I know you guys had fun as well and that's all that matters!!
Excellent opening and closing quotes. 😂Very nice looking build body and wise body double for the speed runs. The wheelies mid run are fun and nerve wracking. You nailed it - speed runs require steady smooth pulls and helpful to turn down steering dual rate. Also the wind doesn’t help - starts making the body a kite. I love the guy who stopped - making new RC friends all the time. Awesome fun was had. Lots of smiles here. 😃
It was a great day out there and yes, at speed any changes make it really upset so you are kind of just along for the ride and if it gets out of shape you just have to try and convince it to mot destroy itself!! The guys that stopped to chat were really cool and I was just worried it was a business owner coming to give me grief! Glad you enjoyed it as I had a great time doing it!
Thanks Mikey! It was a handful and a half driving it! I think it did really well since there was zero testing time done with it! Everything went as well as I would expect and it came home with nothing broken and has returned back to it's prior fun-runner self. I know we are going to do it again next year, not sure if it will bee on the same chassis or if the challenge will be on another chassis but I am totally in for whatever!!! Thank you again and thanks for stopping by and checking it out!
Thank you!!! It was a ton of fun and a lot of stress at the same time!! It was a complete spaz and it often did what it wanted to and I was there to try to wrangle it back into shape to keep it from smashing into stuff!! It worked most of the time!! The body is going to become the regular running body once I get time to strip it all down back to it's normal lunch box self!
Mate that was a crazy effort 48mph out of a lunchbox is awesome the body looks incredible to I can see why you wanted to save it I have a love hate relationship with speed runs they always end in tears a scale rc car is only scale to a certain degree like power to weight ratio we can get them crazy fast but they don't have that weight stability of a real car imagine a van monster truck doing 480mph or your real pick up truck has tyre's that were 4ft tall I think what you just achieved is quite commendable well done 👊
LOL, very true!!! I had fun with it and I am super happy with the results. The truck ran as well as I could hope for and the 48mph was a really nice surprise to see on the meter!!! This was definitely about taking the least likely speed run chassis and seeing what could be done with it and I am super happy with it all!
Great video Sir, the recap at the beginning was excellent. The Lunch Box body with the Hot Wheels logo on the side, Something that Huggy Bear would race back in the day. It is nerve racking doing SPEED RUNS. Making sure the vehicle stays straight. Excellent job, a little road rash gives it character. Take care and stay safe. 💯💯💯💯💥💥💥💥💥👍🤜🤛
Thank you!! I thought the Hot Wheels them fit the project really well! I can see why you enjoy speed testing them as it is exciting but to be running on the ragged edge is very stressful, especially with a truck released in 1987!! I had fun and think it was pretty awesome to hit the 48mph mark so I am happy and will go ahead and hang up that speed run hat and return goofing off in the yard!!! Take care bud!!
That's quite the laundry list of options on that gorgeous rig.!!! Looks super stable. Good luck on the run. It's funny you are going to use a Rustler body, I also ran a Rustler in a speed run challenge. Super excited for you.!! I wrote too soon.!! 48 MPH is insane for a Lunchbox.!!! And I am really impressed at how you kept that rig on the ground. I can tell you had so much fun.!! Well done. I cant believe you ran the good body. I would've too...lol.!
It was a lot of fun and nerve-racking at the same time!! I am very happy with the results and never thought I would be driving a 48mph lunchie!! The Rustler body is an old one I had replaced with another and for some reason kept. It worked well and really protected the truck from those tumbles!! I was surprised it drove away from all of them, that last was a little injured but still could drive away! I wanted to get some footage of the cool body and there is no way I could have gotten it going this fast with the brick of a body on there so i am very glad I went with the other one. After about 30 any steering input made it sway and wit that heavy, tall body it would have gone right over!!
Hi there Addam, such an achievement! 48mph is an awesome speed 😊😊 and the Hotwheels, Evil Kenievel cross theme bodywork looks really creative. Well done. Top work my friend. Take care and best wishes to you and the family 😊
Tanks John!! I think the theme of it fits perfectly and came out well! It was a fun thing to do but I am not going to make a habit of it for sure. Speed runs are stressful as you have no idea what is going to happen and each one is likely to be the last one!! It went well and I am very happy with the results!
Thanks Craig, it was so nerve-racking but a ton of fun too!!! I think that is about as fast as I want to go with it!! It was a blast to be a part of this and to see it go that fast but I think my speed run days are over! I'll stick to putting around the yard and the track!!! Much less stressful!
Thanks and I appreciate the extra support trying to get there but it was not meant to be! We had fun out there with it and I am really happy with hitting the 48! I am pretty sure we will be doing it again next year. Maybe with a different chassis maybe with the same but I will totally be down to try it again!
Thanks bud! It was fun and I am very happy with the results. I never thought I would drive a 48mph lunchie around! It is also the last time I am going to drive it around!! Time to swap it back over to the normal romp around the yard style it was... may keeping a little more speed into it but not the brushless speed!!! LOL!
Pretty much!! I am really happy I went with the hot wheels theme as it really fits the weirdness of the whole thing perfectly! I had fun with it and I am happy with the results so an all around win for me!!
Thanks!! I had fun with the build and the runs even though the runs were a bit nerve racking I was still laughing! Even when I hit my truck with it!! I do so very much love a Lunch Box!!
I'm speechless, it's fantastic! You have a talent in Lunch Box building. And the Hot Wheels logo, Is it a sticker? BRAVO! For the records " posted". ciao
I have to say when I saw the meter saying 48mph I was super pumped up and very proud. Of course I really wanted those 2 more mph but it was not meant to be and I am fine with it. It cam back home in one piece even though it took some nasty spills! The hot wheels logo is a sticker. I got them from MCI decals, it was intended for a short course truck body but I got them for the SMT10 monster truck build. I got those and the M&M stickers for that build not knowing what I was going to do but I am very glad I went with the M&Ms for the monster truck and had these on hand for this build! It was the perfect them for something as silly as this challenge!!
Thanks bud! I am very happy with the results. I did want to find those other 2mph out there though!! It wasn't meant to be but we did have fun out there even with the puckerbutt moments!!
@@AddamsPlayground I’m sure you’ll find it eventually, might not be today or tomorrow but I think you’ll get it someday then you could shoot for the 100mph lunch box lol
@@matthewtavik LoL 🤣 I think that would require a cannon!! This was sketchy enough! I'm gonna strip it back down to the normal mode and keep the body on it for the fun runner and just make more funny silly video with it!!
The Hot Wheels body looks great. You did an excellent job designing it for speed runs. You should be proud of your work. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Thank you Michael! I had a lot of fun with it and I am super pleased with the result. Of course I wanted that 50 as we were so very close but it wasn't to be! Now it is time to strip it back down to the original fun runner it was before and I am going to use the hot wheels body on it from now on so I don't have two yellow one sitting behind me!
@@michaeldorich4485 I am really impressed with tham and he was a little worried they would break if wrecked at speed but they held up well and have now been tested up to 48 mph and torture tested at least up to 37mph!!! I say they passed the test!!
WOW 😮. Been waiting to see this. Your mods are definitely well done and actually the truck looks great. It put down the traction for sure to the rear and when you stabbed the throttle, it wanted to get airborne! Just WOW! I would say with some tuning and practice, that's a 55-60mph set up!
Thanks!! It worked exactly like I hoped it would and had none of the issues I worried it might. I don't know if my nerves could take much more of it!! After that first fast pass my hand was shaking on the steering wheel of the remote!! LOL!! Trying to get on the throttle without bringing the nose up was a struggle!! all that torque from that brushless system just wanted to flip it backwards at any blip of the throttle. I am glad I did and super happy with the time but I think I am retiring from the speed run game!!
You're still wearing shorts! Awesome! And the run, wow, I enjoyed it, from the edge of my seat! Good job keeping it stable enough to hit that speed you did, that was pure skill there! Awesome build, lots of engineering in there, of course from Ampro but also from yourself, that rear end extension was great! I'll be out with mine today, but definitely not wearing shorts, ha ha, it'll be cold but hopefully dry, see how it goes... Have a great rest of the weekend there, buddy!
I rock the shorts all year, I have been out shoveling snow in shorts! It was a very nice day in the low to mid 60s. Just give me a hoody and I am all good! I had no idea how fast it was going to go and it was less skill and more trying to convince it not to destroy itself!!! It definitely take a very light touch on the steering because over 20-25mph it get very touchy!!! That Ampro front end really helped a lot and took one heck of a hit and seems completely fine! The rear end mods did very good, I was a little worried it was not dead straight and would cause it to track funny or launch funny but it did very well. Best of luck with yours my friend and I hope it is not too cold!!
Everything about this project is amazing (to me). I'm sure there are folks that think that a CW01 Speed Challenge is silly, pointless, and mindless.. Me: *Right?! How freaking cool is that?!!* I can't believe I haven't subbed to your channel yet, Addam! Let me fix that.
LOL, thanks!! It was a challenge put out by Poor Boys RC and I got called out to join in on this fun and silly thing! It was a lot of very tense fun out there running it! I am very surprised at how well it handled the tumbles and kept on going. I am pretty sure I could have spent a few minutes and got it back together after that last crash but I figured it was the universe telling me it was not a good idea!!! I will head over later and check out some of you videos as well. Have to get some stuff wrapped up before I can tune out the world for a while! Thanks for checking it out and for subscribing! I appreciate it!!
@@AddamsPlayground I think you'll find a lot of similarities between my Hangar, and your Wall ;-) Some say it's a problem. I say it's an addiction, and some addictions are expensive, time consuming, and 100% worth it. (As I sip my coffee, on my RGB keyboard, smoking a cigarette, commenting on RUclips lol). None of 'em are coming with us, Brother, let's enjoy 'em while we can, (but with each other).
Thanks Jon, I was super excited to see the 48 on the tracker!! I grossly broke the 25mph speed limit back there so that made me smile!! It was a touchy and sketchy thing to dive but it was a really fun challenge and I was glad to be a part of it! Tuning in a 48mph run also felt really good!
Wow looks great dude nice build 👍🤩🚴🏅that’s a great front end mod.. quick car now to.. we’ll done on the driving Addam looks feisty.. I think on the last run it wanted to go home and tried to jump in your truck 😊
Thank you!! To say it was a handful to drive is an understatement!!! When I say it was sketchy I truly mean it!! Once it got above 30 it really did whatever it wanted to and I just tried to convince it not to smash into a curb or something! I think you are right, it was done and di not want to hear me say "OK, lets do one more run" again!!!
Thanks Adam! I had a great time doing all this and my only regret is not getting it done sooner and possibly being able to have another go at it to try and hit 50! I am pretty pumped about the 48 for sure but it was so close but the road, the wind and everything was fighting it and i gave it all she could take. now it is time to strip it back down to the normal fun runner it was to begin with but with some better parts on it!!
liked and subbed that was awesome fun to watch i just picked up a couple CW01 chassis cars LunchBox and the Midnight Pumpkin and i might not make the deadline but i will still be making a video and speed run pass to show with you guys as its all for the love and the fun of playing around with the rc's we all love cheers Addam loved this video bud 🙂
Thanks Andrew!! I appreciate it! I do love this chassis and I have a small thing for making Lunchies into other things! It is a very interesting drive getting one of these up to speed for sure. Twitchy, unsteady and ready to go off the rails at any moment is the best description I can give it!! We were laughing and nervous the whole time but it was very rewarding to see that 48mph on the tracker! Have fun with the kits, they are both a tin of fun!!
Oh man that was looking pretty fun out there brother. lol Although Very squirrely when making the runs. Did a pretty good job and decent speeds as well. :) It was a good setup for what it is. :P
It was very fun but nerve-racking to say the least! Once it hit above 30mph it just di what it wanted to and I was there to try and convince it to not slam into a curb! It was a silly thing to do and I am glad I did and think 48mph is as fast as I ever want a LB to go!!
Oh man that was a fun but nerve wracking watch! Can't believe that you got 48mph and others have done better. I remember my lunchbox being a handful at 25mph! The thing about this video that I was most incredulous about being a British person is that there is a 3 lane road in the daytime that had almost no traffic on. I don't think this exists in the UK. Even if you went out in the middle of the night there would still be traffic on a road that size. I don't think I'll be entering the contest myself after seeing this as it looks a bit stressful! Great stuff Addam 😁
It was a ton of a fun and also a good bit of stress and nerves involved!! The truck held up very well considering we have a full tumbles at fast speeds! As goofy as it looked with that body on there it served its purpose very well and took a lot of the abuse! This is in an industrial park that they had big plans for but it never really got developed fully so it is a big road but not a lot of traffic on the weekends. It was also pretty early in the day which helped too. I am super happy with the 48mph and was trying to find the other two out there but it was not going to happen that day! after 30mph you are kind of just along for the ride and trying to convince it to not slam into something... like your own truck!! LOL!! If you have not seen Jock-O-Trades build and run you need to. He did all kinds of neat stuff to his and it was flying!!!! He just did another run for the Tamiya Club record with the stock rear end in it and I think he hit 57 with it which is just insane!!! I am sure he will break 60 with the stock rear end.
Hahaha, I know what mean Addam. I was a nervous wreck before during and after each run we did. Fantastic you got to 48 though. I'm just hoping to break 40 on my next run. Great stuff dude.
Thanks!! It was a fun challenge and I am very happy with the results! I did not expect to see 48 on there but I am excited to turn in a great speed! It was super sketchy and I am a little relieved it was a one and done type of thing and I don't have to do it again! I think it had more in it just not on that road and without some sort of spoiler on the front end!
Great run! 48mph is insane indeed.😂Love the livery on that Lunchbox. Very appropriate for a speed run contender. I’m glad you didn’t use it too much for the actual run tho.😅Very nice mods. It worked well for that speedrun.👍
Thank you!! It was exciting and nerve racking as well!!! I think the hard body would have made it impossible to drive at that speed for sure, the slightest of turning and it would have tumbled right over and destroyed the whole thing. The lexan body took a lot of the abuse and cushioned it a lot during those tumbles! I greatly appreciate its sacrifice in that!! As you could see it was not the first time that body had seen a crash!! It looked a bit goofy but worked pretty well!
Thanks! It was a lot of fun and a bit nerve wracking! Mostly because I really only had the one shot at it and I was terrified it was going to break something before I got a decent time with it!! It is sketchy for sure driving it at those speeds but that was more fun than I expected!
Thanks! I think I did pretty well with no real idea of the go-fast world. I just picked stuff that seemed to make sense and I am really happy with the results! I am going to use this body on the fun runner it is going to be changed back to!
hello new friend here What an interesting and inspiring video! Thanks a lot for sharing! I feel it will be inspiring for others because you got the best ideas on it. Never give up, great things take care! You are great with what are you doing! Hope you are doing well, stay positive, stay healthy and here my full support for you! ❤😊
One car (after feeled hours) is freaking traffic. I have to ask for a green card. Having one of the few clouds always over the camera is more annoying.🤣🤣🤣 Great improvements to the car. The result is very cool and one of the bests I heard or see the last days. Flipping over with the LB body made me feel sad. I hope the scratches are minor.
I was just joking about the "traffic" LOL!! I was just hoping it wasn't a business owner coming to yell at me! I am very happy with the results and it is better than I expected! I was sad as well but figured it was going to happen, just not right away!! I am fine with ths scrapes as it has a story to tell now! I also am going to run this body on the fun running lunchie from now on so it is going to get more scratches and dings in it along the way so we got the first one done and out of the way already!!
Yeah that metal spur gear gives it a cool sound once it is spooled up!! It was a fun and challenging project and I am very happy with the 48mph top speed. I am hanging up my speed run run hat though, too tense for me!!
Thanks!! I was really happy with how fast it went and I was really stoked to see that 48 on the tracker and i wanted to get it to 50 but I think that is going to be the high water mark. I am going to go ahead and strip it back down to the normal fun runner it was. I'm going to leave the hop-ups on there but the speed run challenge is wrapping up tomorrow and don't have any other tricks to throw it! Gonna hang up the speed run hat as that stuff is stressful!! Fun but stressful!
Thanks Freddy!! I am happy with the way it all turned out. I hit a good solid speed and it came home without needing any major work! I call it a success!
Great Video! The body looks awesome! I’ve been looking forward to seeing what you were going to be able to pull with your setup. It didn’t disappoint. Those were some solid solid runs! I think for an unmodified gearbox you’re close to the record over on TamiyaClub. I believe it’s 48.5mph. I’m impressed that you got good runs with those Low profile rear wheels. I’ve discovered that my Lunchie doesn’t like stiff wheels. It likes the supple balloon wheels.
I am very happy with the result. I think they last wipe out was due to the rear tires hitting something and causing it to hop up like that! I thought about bringing the regular tires with me but had set my mind to using these and they worked well. I think my speed run days are over but who knows. Maybe I will stick the regular ones on there and run it again to see if we can hit that 50!
@@AddamsPlayground I figured we’d turn the rate way down. I don’t think our runs will be that impressive but still fun to see what the top speed of a stock vs sport tuned is
Thank you! I think it turned out well and did pretty well for having zero speed run experience!! I am happy with the 48mph and that it came home in one piece!! Much appreciated!!
My wife figure it all out on the drive over there. We had taken some of our furniture to our daughter's house and taking their old couch to the dump after this. It was still unopened in the box yesterday morning!!! It worked out and thankfully the one time we didn't count was not the fastest speed!!
Thanks! I am very happy with the 48mph although I would have loved to have found the other two out there!! It came home in one piece and we got a great speed so I will call it a win for me!!
I think after about 30mph I was just along for the ride and trying to convince it not to smash into anything, I did pretty well except for the last run!! I saw on the video the rear wheel hopped up (probably hit a rock in the road) and then swerved right towards us. I tried feather the brakes but it was coming in too fast and when I hit them harder the rear in kick out and tumbles right into the truck, thankfully just the tire! nothing about this chassis was meant to do any of this!! I am sure nobody in Tamiya engineering and development thought anyone would even try to go this fast in one when they built it!!
It was pretty nuts and I am glad it didn't wipe out on that run!! I am super happy with it especially as I am no speed run expert at all... I am not even a novice!! A complete speed run noob!
Thank you! It was really fun to do and something way out of the normal for me! I do not sell the roof scoops but I think I may have one more out there from when I printed this one. I printed more than one since it doesn't take much more time to do a couple than it does to do one. Send me an email and if I can find it I will send it to you if you are in the US.
wow some daymm good going out of a lunchbox sir what a beast, i best bolt my racing slicks on and one last bash at getting it pinned wish us luck haha ill be over moon if gets in the 40 region fingers crossed
Thank you! I was hoping for somewhere in the 40s but honestly had no idea it was going to even hit 40. When it wrecked at 37 I knew we had a good chance and then when I saw 48 I was really pumped! I wanted the find the other 2mph out there but it wasn't meant to be! It was a fun time and although stressful driving it was a good time!! Good luck!!!
It was tricky getting on the throttle as it by design was made to do wheelies and have really punchy response. I couldn't do any gearing changes to it due to the design of the gearbox. I am sure with significant hacking I could have gone up a couple teeth on the pinion but it was all in good fun!
It got sent the best I could!!! I will say my hand was literally shaking on the steering wheel of the controller driving it back from the first fast pass! It was a handful and a half for sure! I am very happy with the 48mph!!
@@AddamsPlayground Dude 48mph is insane!!! I've had 4s truggies that went that fast and were hard to control let alone a tall top heavy car. Surprised it didn't catch air and back flip to be honest!
Thank you! I am not sure if it would or not. I know the mad bull arm pivot kind of inline with the chassis and the cw01s are much like the hoppers when the front of the arm pivots are almost touch and the rears are much farther apart. It could work but I think the steering would be limited. I am from Virginia on the central east coast. I live in what used to be pretty rural area but is growing up way too fast! I am glad she likes it and it is not annoying!! LOL
It does look better and the wider "tire" on it looks and work much better than the little plastic nubbin that is stock. the adjustment may come in handy but it does fit the rear end much tighter so it doesn't' move up and down like the stock one. I don't think it is a necessary upgrade but worth the $20 I spent on it to improve the looks and the wheel rolls over things instead of digging into the ground! I think you would be happy if you got one.
@@AddamsPlayground I would have been s-ing a brick the whole time! It's a good thing the Hot Wheels body hardly has bruising. That's a beautiful shell you made.
Yes, it was telling me it was time to go home! LOL! I listened and it is still a fun one to take out and run around. The mega fast brushless setup is gone and more normal fun motor and ESC is in there now!
I was looking at the options and I was running low on time to get it done so when I found these in the hobby shop it felt like fate! It needed a big ol wing up front to smash the front end down at speed or something! First time doing any sort of speed run so a lot of lessons learned. We will see what the next one brings!
Advice for speed runs, steering rate low position so tires barely turn then small or large adjustments to steering won’t roll or tip over truck, lunchbox or trucks… also those funny steer tires to thin for size of lunchbox and width in general need wider tires
I started building my fighting buggy what type of lipos are going to fit in it cuz it has that strange shape centerpiece in there it's all rounded and stuff that I noticed I mean I think I found some batteries that will fit it but I don't know I mean I'm talking just 2s batteries not 3s, I also noticed there's a lot going on in the back of that car there's alot stuff going on in that rear end complex.
I just used a small 1500mah pack from one of the small cars in there. I wasn't going to buy a special battery just for it. A shorty lipo pack should fit in there now problem and I have hear people stuff and full sized battery pack in there but I have no idea how!
@@AddamsPlayground you know my WL toy the 144001 they have a 3800 that fits that car and I'm wondering if that will fit in the fighting buggy I mean it's a 14 scale car so the battery has to fit it I just hope I can fit it in there somehow I'm tempted to buy it I don't know when I do have a 1500 that goes in that car and I'm wondering if the 3800 is the same length.
@@bradkalman2353 I dunno, I just used one I had on hand from one of the small cars. Any small 2s pack should fit in there. A full sized is going to be a struggle if not impossible
I don't want to go fast I just want to take off fast-ME I need to put a GPS meter on my lunch box to see how fast it goes weirdest shock set up I've ever seen as I was putting it together I'm like I got to be missing parts lol
LOL, yeah they are not your traditional shocks at all! They do give it a special character the one I put oil dampers on, I kind of miss the stock shocks on it! There is something about the rattling, bouncy shocks I miss when driving this one. It does take off faster without wanting to flip backwards so there is that!
One of them did have one already. I was mostly worried they were one of the business owners coming to tell me to leave! I was relived when they just wanted to see what I was running.
Brice from Jock-O-Trades hit 59mph I believe. His was amazing with a whole new 3D printed gearbox he designed to allow for different gearing. It was nutso fast! I can't imagine adding an additional 11mph to mine, it was already past controllable at this point.
I was to busy laughing since it bounced off my truck!!! I knew it was going to crash as I was trying to slow it down but it was not cooperating so I had to get on the brakes pretty hard and it just spun out and tumbled. It was at that point I knew we were done for the day!!!
I had no idea of how fast it was going to go and when I saw 48mph I was shocked! I also wanted to see it hit 50+ but it was just too sketchy and that last tumble did it in!
I feel like at the very least you should have a lunchbox body on it to get the speed test. Doesn’t have to be your fancy painted body just anyone you have because the body will change the way the car drives 100%(especially at high speeds). I’d like to see your top speed with an actual lunchbox body and how it compares to what you did here. You shouldn’t be so nervous about running these and crashing them. It’s just an RC ca4 that can easily be rebuilt and fixed. What’s the point of building a car just to look at and run slow in the yard?
It would have crashed every run with the LB body on it. After around 30mph any steering input made it unstable and with the larger heavier body it would have gone out of control. My nervousness was mostly due to the fact I only had this one shot for the speed run challenge. It ends tomorrow and if I smashed it all up there would be no way I would be able to put it back together in order to make a decent attempt again. I do have certain cars and trucks I don't care a bout beating up and that is exactly why I have them, so they take the abuse and get fixed all the time. The rest of them are for my enjoyment to putter around the yard and enjoy seeing in the collection. I have been through all phases of the hobby and got tired of the smash and bash running of them. I got tires of constantly having 2 or sitting around waiting for parts and constantly dumping money into the to go fast and jump all over the place. Now I prefer the building and collecting of the cars and trucks I grew up wanting or just find interesting and entertaining. There is something for everyone in the hobby, fast or slow, monster sized or scale accurate... it is what makes the hobby so appealing to so many.
Nah, it is going to be the basher body and I painted it the dark color over the black body for that reason. The scuffs and scratches won't should up very much at all. I plan on taking the fun-runner lunchbox out more often so it needed a fun beater body!
Well... it kind of has a mind of its own when it gets out of shape and I was trying to slow it down but you have to be very easy on the brakes. I hit them a little hard and it spun out and tumbled right into the truck. No damage so all is good!
It's all good. It is going to turn into the runner body anyway, I got tired of seeing two yellow ones sitting up there so this is taking over the basher body!
That was insane dude, you got it screaming! 48 mph!!! Well done, brother! 👌
@@poorboysrc thanks for doing this and asking me to join in! It was a good time!
@@AddamsPlayground thanks for joining in, Addam. It's great to bring the RC community together like this. 🍻
DUDE!!!! AWESOME JOB ON THE BODY!!!!! The speed you got was insane!!!
Awesome attempt Addam! 48mph is insane for this chassis! It was nice to see your wife giving you a hand!👍😊
That Lunchbox is insanely cool. What a damn fun hobby this is. Awesome job with this build! 🍻
That was insane!!!!
Great effort mate, and truly admirable driving skills laying down all that power!
Body shell looks delightful! 👌
👍 👍 👍
Great job Addam. I think 48mph is respectable! Great fun buddy 🙌🏻👍🏻
Brilliant lunchbox build. Really nice entry. Was wooing you on to the big 50. You got close. Respect!
Thanks and I appreciate the extra support trying to get there but it was not meant to be! We had fun out there with it and I am really happy with hitting the 48! I am pretty sure we will be doing it again next year. Maybe with a different chassis maybe with the same but I will totally be down to try it again!
Great build… awesome body I love it… fun project across RUclips and look forward to what’s next 😍🤩😎
Thanks bud! It was fun and I am very happy with the results. I never thought I would drive a 48mph lunchie around! It is also the last time I am going to drive it around!! Time to swap it back over to the normal romp around the yard style it was... may keeping a little more speed into it but not the brushless speed!!! LOL!
Haha...this is great bud. Looks like an old school gasser with the van body! Zoom zoom!
Pretty much!! I am really happy I went with the hot wheels theme as it really fits the weirdness of the whole thing perfectly! I had fun with it and I am happy with the results so an all around win for me!!
Awesome build Addam. Lunchbox is my favorite.👍
Thanks!! I had fun with the build and the runs even though the runs were a bit nerve racking I was still laughing! Even when I hit my truck with it!! I do so very much love a Lunch Box!!
hahah that thing shifts mate well done, love that Hot Wheels body too and big up to Mrs Addam for the camera work )
LOL thanks!! I thought the hot wheels theme was appropriate!! It was a fun and sketchy time out there!! Mrs. Addam (AKA Gina) says thank you!
48 mph on a car like the lunch box ain’t nothing to snuff at. That’s an awesome number and you had some great designs to get it there. Great job bud!
@@AddamsPlayground I thought the AMPRO arms were amazing in the way they worked.
How freaking cool is that?!!*
I can't believe I haven't subbed to your channel yet, Addam!

Yeah it was a two for one special!! 😂 It was cooking and quite a handful!!
Incredible to see it hit 48mph. Great mods!
Great video, as always, my dude!
@@AddamsPlayground yeah I hear ya. lol when it started to roll there. Everything tightened up a little while I watched. lmao
@@RcNickster709 🤣😂
They are so touchy at speed it is silly! We had fun out there with it and thankfully it came back in decent shape!!
Great speedruns Addam and a great speed
@@AddamsPlayground I would say.. this high risk stunt requires function over form so quirky looking is just fine.😂
Awesome 👌 👏 👍
Thanks! It was a lot of fun and a bit nerve wracking! Mostly because I really only had the one shot at it and I was terrified it was going to break something before I got a decent time with it!! It is sketchy for sure driving it at those speeds but that was more fun than I expected!
Nice Job Adam !! And that body looks killer !
Thanks! I think I did pretty well with no real idea of the go-fast world. I just picked stuff that seemed to make sense and I am really happy with the results! I am going to use this body on the fun runner it is going to be changed back to!

One car (after feeled hours) is freaking traffic. I have to ask for a green card. Having one of the few clouds always over the camera is more annoying.🤣🤣🤣
Great improvements to the car.
Love the body. With the big n little tires and tge body, it looks like it belongs on van nuys blvd in 1978😁
I thought it gave it a funny but cool hot rod look and the Hot Wheels theme goes perfectly with it!!
@@AddamsPlayground definitely.. kinda boogie van but cartooney at the same time
Nice! It sounded a bit like a small jet. pretty dang quick!
Yeah that metal spur gear gives it a cool sound once it is spooled up!! It was a fun and challenging project and I am very happy with the 48mph top speed. I am hanging up my speed run run hat though, too tense for me!!
Great job. 48 is friggin impressive and I am sure you're not done yet!
Gotta say that looks pretty sweet!
Thanks Freddy!! I am happy with the way it all turned out. I hit a good solid speed and it came home without needing any major work! I call it a success!
What a cool build, looks fantastic. I've watched as far as the build spec so far, lot of thought has gone into it. Good luck with the run
It was a fun challenge and I am happy wit the speed I got!! I never thought I would be driving a lunchbox chassis around at those speeds ever!!!
Super cool project and a nice speed.
Thanks!! It was a fun and terrifying challenge!! I had a good time and think 48mph aint too bad at all!
awesome build and cool speed runs
Thanks bud, it was nerve racking out there but it was also a ton of fun! I was even laughing when it slammed into my truck!
We we’re gonna film ours today but got distracted by a golden arrow. Gonna run em tomorrow.
Good luck and be super light on the steering!!!! very touchy at speed!!
@@AddamsPlayground I figured we’d turn the rate way down. I don’t think our runs will be that impressive but still fun to see what the top speed of a stock vs sport tuned is

I just learned that gps today. Ya gotta have it on top
Speed not average and make sure it’s mph and not kph too
My wife figure it all out on the drive over there. We had taken some of our furniture to our daughter's house and taking their old couch to the dump after this. It was still unopened in the box yesterday morning!!! It worked out and thankfully the one time we didn't count was not the fastest speed!!
@@AddamsPlayground I tried for a half hour the other day and couldn’t figure it out. Grayson picked it up, ran across the yard and it worked lol

Thanks! I am very happy with the 48mph although I would have loved to have found the other two out there!! It came home in one piece and we got a great speed so I will call it a win for me!!
Any how it's fast and quite stable. Good choice changing the body. We have to think that the frame is the opposite of high speed ones.
Awesome run!
Thanks!! It was stressful driving and trying to stay in control, well more guide it back into control really, but it was a fun time out there!
great pass! 48 on that chassis is ridiculous
It was pretty nuts and I am glad it didn't wipe out on that run!! I am super happy with it especially as I am no speed run expert at all... I am not even a novice!! A complete speed run noob!
Great attempt. Do you sell the air scoop for the roof looks awesome
Also for speed runs gradually build up speed so it overcomes torque steer then once it tracks give it the rest of throttle or beans…
It was tricky getting on the throttle as it by design was made to do wheelies and have really punchy response. I couldn't do any gearing changes to it due to the design of the gearbox. I am sure with significant hacking I could have gone up a couple teeth on the pinion but it was all in good fun!
Lets go dude!
SEND IT 😂
It got sent the best I could!!!
@@LowestDifficulty it was a handful for sure!! It did make me smile big time to see 48!!
Fantastic mate . Would mad bull style front set up work . Great run . My wife loves your accent . Which part of the states are you in ? 👍👍👍
LOL
@@AddamsPlayground looks a great place mate. 👍
Awesome video, do you recommend that wheelie bar over the stock one, I have a stock setup. Thxs
That was great!
Thanks! It was a lot of fun with a side of nervousness! It cam back home in one piece and I am very pleased with the results!
@@AddamsPlayground I would have been s-ing a brick the whole time! It's a good thing the Hot Wheels body hardly has bruising. That's a beautiful shell you made.
Rc was mad at pickup and did the flipping ninja tire kick
Yes, it was telling me it was time to go home! LOL! I listened and it is still a fun one to take out and run around. The mega fast brushless setup is gone and more normal fun motor and ESC is in there now!
You need a set of duratrax speed tread man
I was looking at the options and I was running low on time to get it done so when I found these in the hobby shop it felt like fate!
Thanks for the tips! overall it did pretty well for something that was never intended to go over 20mph!
I don't want to go fast I just want to take off fast-ME
I need to put a GPS meter on my lunch box to see how fast it goes weirdest shock set up I've ever seen as I was putting it together I'm like I got to be missing parts lol
LOL, yeah they are not your traditional shocks at all! They do give it a special character the one I put oil dampers on, I kind of miss the stock shocks on it! There is something about the rattling, bouncy shocks I miss when driving this one. It does take off faster without wanting to flip backwards so there is that!
I hope you got that guy into RC.
One of them did have one already. I was mostly worried they were one of the business owners coming to tell me to leave! I was relived when they just wanted to see what I was running.
@@AddamsPlayground and I'd like to know what they said.
@@bradkalman2353 just talking about the truck and how fast was going is about all. Nothing much really
What was the fastest speed recorded by now is it well over 50?
Brice from Jock-O-Trades hit 59mph I believe. His was amazing with a whole new 3D printed gearbox he designed to allow for different gearing. It was nutso fast! I can't imagine adding an additional 11mph to mine, it was already past controllable at this point.
@@AddamsPlayground you got to work on the air dynamics things will work better.
also, way to go not swearing on camera after the crash 🤣
I was to busy laughing since it bounced off my truck!!! I knew it was going to crash as I was trying to slow it down but it was not cooperating so I had to get on the brakes pretty hard and it just spun out and tumbled. It was at that point I knew we were done for the day!!!
Ho Lee chitt I dunno if we’ll even hit 25 lol
I had no idea of how fast it was going to go and when I saw 48mph I was shocked! I also wanted to see it hit 50+ but it was just too sketchy and that last tumble did it in!
@@AddamsPlayground I couldn’t believe it hit 48.. crazy
Fix that road rash. 😁
Nah, it is going to be the basher body and I painted it the dark color over the black body for that reason. The scuffs and scratches won't should up very much at all. I plan on taking the fun-runner lunchbox out more often so it needed a fun beater body!
😂 you screwed it up it hit your truck.
Well... it kind of has a mind of its own when it gets out of shape and I was trying to slow it down but you have to be very easy on the brakes. I hit them a little hard and it spun out and tumbled right into the truck. No damage so all is good!
So you scratched that body.
It's all good. It is going to turn into the runner body anyway, I got tired of seeing two yellow ones sitting up there so this is taking over the basher body!
