I've got a Nighthawk AC3200 Model# R8000 and I'm not impressed with the speed. I'm wondering if it's a setting or something. When I plug my laptop directly into the modem I get 290 MBS on the speed test. As soon as I unplug the laptop from the modem and go wireless, the speedtest reads 50 MBS :( And it's right next to the router!!! Any suggestions??? Thanks for the video!
@@rayferrara when you search up available Network right next to your network it's going to say your network name with no number, 2 G or 5G the one with no number is a 2G bandwidth so try to see if you have 5G click on it. If you do not have a 5G line it is either because you're router or modem doesn't support 5G or your device doesn't have the hardware to use 5G
down grade the firmware ,im honestly done with netgear after this i found the solution better than 3 of their outsourced reps from the philipines did in four hours !!! Not to mention this has been an ongoing issue and also the one lady rep knew nothing so much so I had to ask for her supervisor....I didnt pay 300 dollars for a overpriced router that doesnt even do the trick
Question..? Just got the same exact router this month. Long story short, I wanted the Nighthawk x10 so I bought that one first. With that router I was getting 960 mbs from the router through the netgear app. I seen the price drop for the X6 so I switch up to save some money. My netgear nighthawk X6 ac3200 test up to 478 mbs. I know I can get 900 plus but with this router I can’t even get 500 mbs. Do I need to change something in the settings or return it and get something else? Also on the X10 on 5ghz in the back yard my iPhone was pulling 533 mbs. This x6 only give me 127 mbs on the iPhone 7 plus. I have the 1 gbs from XFINITY in Douglasville Ga.
Hello, it sounds like it's in your settings or maybe the wireless network it's handing out. It is handing out an ac wifi? I know u can change them to hand out less (not sure why someone would want too lol) if u have Android, download the "wifi manager" app. It's the one I'm using in the video. It will show you the speed of the network. If your only seeing 400, you may be on the 2.4ghz or there may be a setting that's wrong on the router. I'm in Acworth, may switch to that soon. Waiting on at&t fiber so I can get the Xfinity 1gb for $70 like at&t charges. 😊
BigC Vlogs Ok, but through the Netgear app is shows you the speed of your network, if thats correct, and it shows 473 coming in from XFINITY. Now when I had the X10 it showed 960 mbs, not through wifi but from the router. When I had the TP-Links it also showed 900+ mbs. I only did the quick install when hooking up this router, without doing any changes to it. I know it a downgrade in performance but I shouldn’t be seeing less than 500 mbs. Maybe I have to go back with the nighthawk X10. Hey, thanks for your input.

Thinking the very same. I just bought one today and after 4 hours on the phone with both verizon and netgear, i am still barely getting 200Mbps on a Gigabit service. Will definitely be returning it within the next few days and/or changing internet provider if I am not able to achieve Gigabit or near Gigabit service. 150 and 190 Mbps is just not acceptable.

Are you running 2g or 5g?
Not sure. Where do I find that information?

Honestly I'm still running this router
I upgraded ISP to
500Mbps down
500Mbps up
This router is a bit slow on the up
I only get 380Mbps up
seen speeds of 620Mbps down
Avrg down is 510
I have 5 children a largeish 4 bed house solid brick walls
Range is fantastic
I was using the original firmware but updated
Removed the frequency coexist setting of the 2.4ghz
Honestly it's faultless
You have to change a few things and USE A WI-FI analysing app to find empty channels
Also check what if any radar frequencys are used in your area
I had a lot of network hangs from this
The router will automatically change channel when it detects radar on a channel that is manually selected
This causes some switching and changing of channels and every single time it hangs the router for a long time
Check what's used in your area on Google for radar frequencys and you can solve this using manual channel selection
After I did this it was a whole New router
Couldn't fault it once it's setup correctly
I'm using mine on WAN FROM THE FIBER ONT/"modem"
Any chance I could make a video showing step by step. Would be greatly appreciated

that router is a big disappointment don't get that one
so what is better then this

Not very stable wifi
Agree. Owned for 3 years finally upgrading to xr500. This one continues to drop signal and the 2.4ghz band is total garbage.
Waste of money will be returning this thing sucks
