Honing your skills even more with this one, man. Excellent work. Concise, funny, fun. Well done.. and GREAT choice using the boss music to showcase the soundtrack's baddass-ery.
No lie, man, I start headbanging to that boss theme every time I play it. It's so friggin' HEAVY! Thanks, dude, I'm glad that you enjoyed it. These videos seem to just fall together naturally when a good game is involved.
That soundchip allowed for such great percussive sounds.. that low end on that tune is just so mechanical and heavy, yeah! Well, I'm sure it helps when the game is great, but you deserve most of the credit.
I loved the intro to this. Great review! I am planning to make a video on this as well, if I ever finish the one I’ve been working on for the last month and a half.
Thanks! The ideas just kept rolling with this one. I actually left some stuff out cuz I felt that it was "too much". For whatever reason this game really sparked my creativity. Wish it worked that way for all of my videos. So, you recently played this one too? It's been pretty popular lately. NESComplex also did a video not too long ago. Looking forward to yours. Always like to hear your perspective.
Thank you for not showing the sad thumbs up that gets me right in the feelings every time. Awesome review! I loved your editing in this one... you get more and more creative every single time with these, and I'm glad you got to focus in on a game that clearly deserves some attention. This is getting moved higher and higher on my list of games I need to find. I'll know who to shake down when I need some tips!
That's Terminator 2, silly! Thanks for acknowledging the editing. It's easier to get more creative for games that I love versus ones that I dislike or think that are "meh". I highly recommend this one, so snag it now, cuz you know this review is gonna make those prices skyrocket, ha ha!
Still blows my mind how many people havent discovered games like this and Guardian Legend. A true hidden classic hanging out right in the open. Kudos on completing it! The platforming parts of those later stages gets to be pretty tricky.
To be fair, I don't remember this one being advertised or displayed often in magazines at the time of release. Sunsoft definitely didn't do themselves any favors.
Great review! I remember renting this game when I was like 6 and thinking getting past level 2 was impossible, and it was for me at the time LOL. Great work per usual. I've said it before but your narrating voice is second to none, cheers man!
Man, you gave this review your all and it shows! This has been one of the most gripping reviews I've seen from you. I know this game was the fate of the terminator project, but I've never got to play this. Definitely going on my list!
Thanks, man! People keep saying I really outdid myself with this video, that's it's my best, etc, etc, and while I definitely appreciate all of the praise, I feel it's up to par with my other stuff. But I absolutely had fun with this one. It definitely got the creative juices flowing, and I would hafta pause the game often to jot down notes. Glad I did, cuz it all came together nicely. Get this game! It's still affordable, and totally worth it!
Hey Wes. Finally got a chance to really watch this and have to say you did an excellent job. The editing and pacing are pretty much perfect. Good script and talking points too. Really a 5 out of 5 here. Well done! Enjoyed it a lot.
Nefarious Wes you rocked it. Makes me want to step my game up. If I wasn’t cranking out 2 videos a week with a group this is the kind of stuff I’d be doing.
@@TheGameBeaters Thanks, man. That's how I feel when I watch a video that inspires me. Glad I have that same effect on others. I'd rather see you do one video every other week than twice a week to see what you can really do. I've always felt that your videos have so much more potential than what you've actually shown us.
Great review man! I've heard you name drop this one a few times and was glad to see this as I'm not very familiar with the game. Very, very nicely done!
I could listen to that title screen music all day. I still have the cart, bought it back in the day. I've only beaten the game once. 8-Bit music at it's best. Good review.
I love the music in this game! I really need to play it soon, maybe I'll stream it. Your review really got me pumped to try it. But you just had to take a shot at Back to the Future, didn't you? Haha. Great video as always, Wes!
Just for you, man, just for you, ha ha! Thanks, dude! I know you're gonna love this game. And yeah, that soundtrack is just too damn good! It can be distracting.
For some reason I missed this game back in the day. I've listed to the soundtrack many times but never actually played it. I will have to give it a try one of these days. Thank you for the review!
Didn't know about the Japanese version's different sprite! I also love the huge boss sprites in this game! As always, this was a well-made review, Wes! I definitely need to make time to play this game 🙏🏼 Thanks Wes!
From what I remember on one website, the reason it got changed from The Terminator into Journey to Silius was because there was some guy overseeing the project and the design team, and the guy was rude and too demanding and he was getting on their nerves so they called the whole thing off and decided to rework the game into an original creation instead.
I’ve always been curious about this game and never got the chance to play it. Just based on your review I’m itching to play now! Lol I agree with the scrolling levels of bs! Nicely done! Glad I subbed. Looking forward to the next vid.
Fact. the original sprites from the Terminator game were based on an unused mech that did not make The Terminator but managed to show in Terminator 3, some of the sprites are there in a Journey to Silius, just got to look hard enough. I bought this back in October in 1990 at Electronic Boutique, yes the fifth stage can suck ass! , Great video bro
Great review! I haven't put enough time into this game to yet to form a solid opinion. I'll move it to the top of list of games to play. I do like the look of the Japanese version w the helmet on.
Great video dude. I absolutely LOVE the music in this game. In fact, I've listened to the music WAY more than I've played the game. :D While Naoki Kodaka definitely composed some brilliant music for the game. Some of the credit goes to Nobuyuki Hara, Shinichi Seya, and Naohisa Morota. The sound programmers that made the NES sound chip play those compositions well.
Oh, I just mean, if four out of five levels in a game are great, and the fifth level seems lackluster; it's usually the dev team running out of time/money. My favorite example of this is the officially released Lion King on the NES. It was exclusive to PAL regions. And you could kinda'-sorta' see what the dev team tried to do; but also clearly see that they ran out of funds halfway through. :D
u know i had to watch this, love this fn game man, i really need to play the terminator hack of what this game was supposed to be. Crazy it made it all the way into the nintendo power and everything!
Hey Wes, I owned this game back when it came out. Back then it seemed to always remind me of Blaster Master or Fester's Quest, most likely because of the soundtrack or because it was a Sunsoft game and Sunsoft indeed put out some great games on the good ole NES. This is a excellent game but yeah man, fuck Stage 5. Killer review of a great classic. \m/
Kickass music indeed but please don't punch my mom in the face! Great game, I didn't discover it until my mid-late 20s. I played whatever random games my mom and grandma got me for NES as a kid so I'm not sure it would have changed for me in my childhood if it was a Terminator game.
There's nothing much else to say about Wes. If you know his work you know it's badass and top notch. If you don't know this already sub to his channel, watch the videos and watch his live streams...period.

I played this for the first time a few days ago. This is a tougher game than I expected.
At first. But once you have things memorized, it's not too tough.
Nice vid! Never had this one but the music is great
Thanks! The music is killer!
Awesome Wes! I see you made that jump without getting hit... and rejoining daddy! Nice line!!!
Yeah, but then did you see me get hit by the NEXT enemy? It's impossible to get through there without taking damage. Thanks, man!

Kudos on how well this review came out. I know how hard you push to hit your desired level of quality and this one truly impressed me. Nicely done
Thanks, man. Glad this video turned out as well as it did. Still trying to find the best setup for my mic, but I'm getting close.
And we have probably my favorite review yet. Good job sir. Makes me want the game more.
Thanks, man! Get it!
Fantastic! This review is a gift, and I thank you for it.
Thanks and you're welcome!

Thanks, I appreciate that. The game's difficulty really does step it up at stage two, but one you have it down... it can still kick your ass!
awesome review man, I need to play this one more - this video makes me want to put in some real effort to play through it, I usually give up too quick
Thanks! Just a little practice and memorization and you'll be taking this one down in your sleep.
Set the World Afire by MD, what cool song to start an awesome review!
That was definitely the inspiration behind it.

The main protagonist head sorta looks like Billy Lee from Double Dragon.
Yeah, kinda.
I got my hands on a copy of this a little while ago and been meaning to pop it in.
I find it pretty addicting.
Great review. This should be a beloved NES classic, but is still relegated to the realm of hidden gem.
Thanks. I know, huh? Only took me damn-near 30 years to play it.
Terminator! Great review Wes!
Thanks!

Good work on this, man. You nailed the stuff about the controls.
Thanks, man. Yeah, those damn controls.
Good call on the music. This is easily one of my favorite soundtracks from the entire NES catalog.
Another great job Wes. Journey to Silius is my #1 must have game right now. Love those Sunsoft games on the nes too.
Thanks, man! This just may be my favorite Sunsoft game on NES. I dunno.
Fantastic review. I never dived too much into this game, I'm going to pop it on right now ha. I bet I saw that same Nintendo Power and was excited

Another great nefarious wes video review along with US and Japanese comparisons.

"Reunited with Daddy"... lol. Funny as hell review Wes, you do good work.
Thanks. Glad you dug it.
There’s a hack that puts the terminator back in the game. Played it?
I haven't, but I've seen someone stream it.

I wonder if the dev team was running out of money/time. I mean, the 90's weren't kind to Sunsoft.
@@SaadAzim I have no idea. I did research, but couldn't find an answer as to why the license expired.

Hard to argue with that.
