Your humility and concern for your animals is appreciated. No apologies needed but I watch your channel because you are the kind of people that take responsibility. God bless your family, your animals and your homestead.
As a fellow farmer/homesteader myself for the last 10 plus years I must say that I greatly appreciate how open and honest you guys are about your own trials and experiences with this lifestyle. Thank you!
I truly appreciate your honesty. Sometimes I feel homesteading videos only show the pretty gardens and romanticize everything. It is dirty, hard work and involve hard decisions a lot of times. You guys are awesome!
Appreciate your humility. No apology needed here. In the end, it’s your homestead. The online community can be helpful. But in the end, you do what you know is right, not what other people might feel. The “fear of man” can be powerful but you know what is right. Stick with it!
I agree. Unless you've done a horrific crime, there's no need to apologize. That being said, I don't think there is a need to apologize because you are a humble man who shows humility. Your regret shows through in your demeanor. The last reason as to why I don't think an apology is necessary is because it's the internet. The gripers are like sharks. If they smell blood, the feeding frenzy will begin. If you show your weak sidee, they've got you! lol. Might as well avoid feeding the sharks, they're never happy anyway, they're never satiated. Thanks for your videos. I appreciate you living and learning. It's good to know there are other men like me out there.
@@esperago I agree somewhat... But being pressured to to something, *or not,* by the gripers is not good either. The right thing to do is to apologize *when it's the right thing to do.* That said, I don't know if he needed to do so on this occasion.
I rarely, if ever, comment on RUclips videos, but for some reason I find myself doing so now. I’ve watched your videos for a couple of years and enjoy watching how you are building your lives there. This video is no exception. It seems so very responsible to me that you are willing to share some of the downside challenges with your viewers. I’m not a homesteader, just a home gardener, but still enjoy watching most of what you post. I so appreciate that you are responsible with your raising of animals for food. The large food industry is upsetting to me and I think you set a great example of what raising animals for food should look like. Making choices such as these recent ones (new quail lineage, cease pig breeding etc) are the decisions that will give YOU sustainability in your endeavors. Kudos to you both for having the foresight to make difficult choices! Sorry this got long!
I think that too many times, people who don't farm don't realize the work involved in raising any animal. My late husband and I had a small farm, and we raised bison for a while. They were pretty self sustaining, but we did feed grains and pasture cubes, and even with a small herd, it was a tremendous amount of work, especially during winter. I truly enjoy your videos, and think you're doing a great job. God bless you and your family
@Jer Bear My bull was partial to caramel apples and watermelon 😊 The lead cow was fond of nachos , cheese and all. I could get close to them and my husband could, but no one else. I have literally stood 12 inches away from my bull, and he never bothered me. He was a 2300 pound, 6 ft tall baby
What I have always seen on your homestead is thoughtful, caring stewardship of your animal family. It is good to see your continual evaluation of what works best for the animals and you. For those reasons, no apologies are necessary. Transparency is one of your channel’s strengths. I applaud your commitment to your homestead family and always look forward to the next chapter.
Never apologize for your learning curve as a farmer. No one should ever criticize you either as we are all on a learning curve and we are learning from you. I have learned a lot from your channel.
Kevin, you should not have to apologize about your struggles with your quail situation. You have done the best you could with that quail bunch. I'm looking forward to hearing about your success with your new batch ❤
We have a homestead as well, and we’ve tried raising different animals that just didn’t work out for us, so we had to regroup and cut our losses. I admire you both for the hard work you two put in. Farm life can be tough and sometimes heart wrenching. I’ve had to deal with coyotes and snakes and raccoons that want to come and help themselves to the animals we’ve been raising. So there’s no need to apologize. You’re presenting an honest picture of what it’s like to live this way.
You don't have anything to apologize for Kevin! What you do is up to you. I've been watching your channel for some years now, and I've watched you learn and grow. I admire how thorough you and Sarah are and I respect this. I hope you are successful with your new quail. Thank goodness for A.J. Farms. I've never seen a video here I didn't enjoy. Thank you and bless you both.
All we ever see is caring and conscientious care of all your animals! You have NOTHING to apologize for. Just like veggies- you sometimes get bad seeds. More power to you for trying again. Love your message and always enjoy your videos!
Please don't ever apologize to strangers out there that don't live your life or know anything about what you've been dealing with. Your video's are always so informative including your quail ones.
I think that the reason y’all are so Successful is that you are so blatantly HONEST with your viewers! And I, for one, am so thankful for that. I’ve been following you for a long time and it’s always so appreciated that you are so transparent .. thanks for that.
As a former farm boy who now lives in the city, you two take me back to my former life on the farm. I enjoy, and can appreciate your ups and downs, and I love taking part in your lives. I can’t wait now to hear about the ongoing sagas of quail, milk cattle, piglets, and chickens. Love you guys!
Some advice. Never apologize, especially to viewers that watch your content for free. What you do on YOUR farm and the decisions you make are yours to make. Anyone getting upset needs to do some self reflecting and possibly get some counseling.
People apologize for a lot of things. Not all people, but those who do are thoughtful and reasonable thinkers. I give him a lot of credit. I missed the vlog about his birds.
So happy Hope is finally pregnant again. You both are so amazing with all your animals and birds. Kevin you don’t have to apologize but explained your decisions which was right for you AND the birds. Glad to see you haven’t given up on them because we know how much you love those little birds. Peace and blessings,
You guys are the best. I think a lot of people forget that there’s a lot of real life going on behind the scenes in between every “update” you give to us viewers. Things are constantly changing and evolving on a homestead! You’re so kind to share and know that so many of us support you on this side of the camera. 😊
Anyone who has been with you for any length of time know how well you take care of your animals. God bless you both and I hope you have better luck with this batch.
The decisions that you both make with regards to how you manage your homestead is exactly that......YOUR decision! We viewers are just lucky enough to be along for the ride to see how your homestead life works or doesn't work as you've been so honest to show us. Good luck with the new quail Kevin ❤
Farms are forever evolving as well as your family's needs. No apologies at all are needed. You are smart to know your limitations and wise enough to do what's right for you and your animals. May God continue to bless you all
Kevin, your video on hatching quail a few years back has a very excited feel, and I'm hoping you feel that way again with your new hatch moving forward. My heart goes out to you for having to deal with the aggressive birds, that is totally a disappointing situation. I am loving the cows' fluffy topknots blowing in the breeze as Sarah discusses their fertility statuses, they are so sweet.
Y’all are honest and I appreciate that you tell us what’s working and what’s not. You always seem to have the best interest of your animals in mind and have been incredibly credible and thoughtful.
Here on my farm, it has been a tough year. I understand, I really do. I think you are good people. I do not believe you would ever be unkind to your animals. Period. No matter how "seasoned" we are, there is always a learning curve. I trust in your process. I know you will regroup with a good long term solution. You always do! Take care, my friends! God Bless!
I LIKE👍🏼 EVERY VIDEO BEFORE WATCHING. You both are consistent, thorough, kind and humble. I refer back to your videos so often for help with specific tasks. You ARE HIGH QUALITY teachers and I want to encourage you to be that! God bless you and your family!
We all do the best we can with what we know and are given. No one knows what goes on behind the scenes, they only know what little info can get into a video. You and Sarah are amazing farmers/homesteaders and I'm grateful for your honesty and videos!
Congratulations on the new Quail eggs. Super excited to see how they do. And good news on Rose. Thanks for the educational videos regarding homesteading and realistic outcomes. God bless.
I stopped running quail years ago due to reliance on outside feed and lack of strong local demand. I can't even imagine running them now with current feed prices. If there were a demand for them that would be different I guess. Anyway, thanks for sharing! My family watches on 3 different accounts. :)
You do what is best for your farm and family. People have lots of opinions but they aren't having the expense or responsibility of caring for them. I enjoy watching your journey. Thank you for being willing to share with the rest of us your experiences. God Bless you in all you do.
AJ farms has great quail! You should get a great hatch rate, their quail do have a great temperament and are good sized, lays lots of eggs. Enjoy the experience...
I’m taking a break breeding birds this season. I may over summer try again but I’ll say this. Having dairy goats in kidding season has me so busy I been scaling back on my breeder quail. I think it’s important to be transparent and I think you guys are. Blessings.
How can you even think that you owe anyone an apology? Your openness and honesty show that you take ownership of your decisions and there is no reason you shouldn’t. You help everyone to listen to problems and help them make their own decisions. Isn’t change part of moving on in life? Keep going and good luck!
This is one of my favorite videos you’ve done. I know you have many sleepless nights making hard decisions. Homesteading is not an easy life. It’s a 24/7 job. God bless you both.
This is just a real life example of raising any kind of animal on a homestead or even in a domestic situation. It doesn't always work out the way you want it to. Thanks for being real and sharing the real deal with us.
I’ve been following your videos for awhile now, and have learned so much from the two of you, not just about homesteading, but also about being good people. You always produce high quality videos. You haven’t succumbed to the fear based business model on RUclips- Thank you! I appreciate the class, decency and dignity you’ve shown by your apology to viewers who may have been upset (albeit, I wasn’t one of them). The “Never Apologize” crowd is wrong. It doesn’t show weakness to apologize, it shows you have empathy for others. It shows how people should treat others -and - that you’re a rational, reasonable role model. Thank you both. Please keep up the great work!
So sorry you’ve taken heat for what was a very good video. I did get the sense you were unsettled and processing the experience and advice. And your openness resulted in a new beginning. Love y’all ❤❤❤
Thanks for your honesty. People that have never lived on a farm have no idea of real life situations that you have to deal with. Also, you both are getting older and your needs change and you need time for yourselves and not just work all the time.
I remember a video you did a while back about needing to find the joy again in your lifestyle, that it wasn’t how you wanted when you started this way of life. I started watching your channel back in Arizona, and to see the dedication and love you have for homesteading is with out question! To be self sufficient has to be the goal and helping others in your community. I feel for Kevin because he really loves the pigs but he is also wise when it comes to family and sustainability . I love you guys and believe in you. God has continued to guide you and the blessings are evident from Him, so continue following Him and God Bless!
Your video about life without a feed store was an eye opener for me. For some reason, I’d not really stopped to think about how true it was that the pigs would have to be the first to go. That made me second-guess our plan to get breeder hogs this year. We may still do it sometime in the future, but with a cow calving in May, a batch of CRX coming in April, ducklings hatching around the clock, rabbits kindling, homeschooling my children… Breeding pigs would be too much right now, and I am grateful for y’all sharing your wisdom to help us come to that decision.
There are breeds that do extremely well with pasture and only supplemental feed. You could rotate them on hills of your land if you have that and they will clear underbrush of forest quite happily. And just raise babies in summer when you can grow feed yourself in the garden to further cut feed costs.
I think these past few years with the pandemic has opened our eyes to how we are going to be living in the future. The food shortages the weather changes all contribute to how we will live. Keep up the good work!!
Kevin, no need to apologize. You know what you are doing and if you're not sure, you don't have a problem about seeking advise. There's always the busy bodies that figure they have to mind everyone else's business except their own, just ignore them. We love and thank you and Sarah for all your wonderful videos. Love you both and God Bless!!!
Open and honest conversations of the ups and downs raising farm animals is a must! Responsible ownership and the ability to pivot and direct the farms' future...well done effort you two!
Kevin & Sarah & family, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your homestead experience ❤. I have followed you guys since you first moved from Arizona. I enjoyed many hours of your videos, I hope to enjoy many more of your videos in the years to come. I am saddened about the IPP decision, that being said this is your homestead and I support your decision in whatever you folks decide. I wish you and yours all the best, much love and well wishes from California (my house) to Missouri (your homestead). Blessings and love 💘.
You don't need to apologize for anything, most of the people who are complaining have never raised anything, keep doing what you are doing, love you guys
I had to retire in December from breeding my precious yorkies after 15 years and it has devistated me. So, I totally understand your decision on the pigs. It is never easy to let something go that you have worked so hard to keep. Sometimes, you just have to do these things. Don't let it get you down.
I had to stop breeding rare Somali cats and Abyssinians due to being widowed and serious health problems and want to be around for the ones I kept and got fixed. They kept me going. I just have my quail and my leftover cats from breeding and showing.
@@JNoMooreNumbers i totally understand I am going through the same thing. Bad health, the December of my years. I would rather do it myself than leave it for someone else who doesn’t know them and I don’t want them farmed out to just anyone.
Kevin & Sarah,, Your the Best!! No Apologies needed for me about Anything..You All work hard on Camera & I'm CERTAIN more so Off..God is Blessing You So Much & Me to Watch..I know from being raised basically Homestead, kind of Off Grid, in SO many ways. My Mom & Dad faced many decisions everyday. I think NO ONE can know what is Best For YOU ALL than You!! Happy That Rose( I believe) Is Having a Baby. GOD BLESS & HAVE A SUPER DAY!! Hope it is warmer in your area of MO than mine BRRR., But SUNSHINE ☀ is Beautiful!!
Don't apologize! I been watching you all for years and let me say I have never question the well being of your animals I really appreciate every thing yall share and do!! Make homesteading fun again😊
One of the reasons that you probably don’t question his methods is because he is looking out for animals and him apologizing for poor practice is part of that.
I appreciate the thought put into this and the information. It's not easy pleasing everyone and were all a work in progress. Y'all do a fantastic job .
I don’t think you have anything to apologize for. You two are a great couple who do a lot to help others learn how to do things to improve the quality of their lives.
Awe you guys are the best farmers honest down to earth glad to hear all the good n bad n sad stuff if i lived closier i would get some chickens from you can’t wait to see all the new things coming
I really appreciate your comments about your animals. We have been homesteading for a few years and very much appreciate your honesty about your situation with your animals. Love your channel
Kevin, I feel your pain with the quail struggle. I've been raising them for 3 years now, outdoors, and was seeing the same aggression. I still have 12 of that crew but like you wanting to start a new line. I thank you for your video because I thought I was doing something wrong.
Honestly you are always transparent, fair, humane and full of information, inspiration and helps. Your journey has helped me in my small scale homesteading in a big scale way. Thank you for being and having generous hearts even to feel like you should explain your decisions for doing what you do(which you really shouldn't have to do). xoxo
My Family and I love your channel. You and your wife do an amazing job. We appreciate all the information that you share with all of your successes and failures. We really appreciate it THANK YOU.
That is part of farming , learning, and gaining experience through trying. Nothing you and your wife do upsets me. I like learning things from both of you.
Y'all are always one of my favorite vlogs I follow because of your honesty, and sincerity. Whether it relates to animals, gardens, seeds, recipes, and family. Please don't apologize, you've both always explain the situation, lifestyle, and always do whats best for your animals.
Humility, honesty, excellence, and reality in quality home farming as always. I rarely comment on your videos, other than to say thank you. No one knows it all, I'm here as a home farmer to learn from your successes and failures, as I do from my own. Sometimes a change is as good as a rest, genetically among your livestock as much as how you are doing things. We're on a 'quail break' just now as it was needed to suit our personal lives. Are we done with quail forever? Probably not. We're also on a 'pig break' just now too! Again, is it forever, very unlikely. Do what's right for you and keep on producing phenomenal real, honest home scale content and food for your family... and thank you!
We appreciate your sharing, the "ups and downs" of your homesteading experience. You've also seemed willing to share, your reasoning, behind the decisions you make. But, when it comes right down to it, it's YOUR homestead. Explaining your decisions, is fine; but, you have no need to apologize for them. We, sitting in the comfort of our own homes, have no right to criticized, or judge, your choices. "Baahh Ram Ewe" (from the movie "Babe"). To yourself be true. May God continue to bless the both of you.
Gosh, what decisions you make on your farm is your business not anyone else's, people should mind their own business. You are doing a brilliant job, well done and good luck.
This video really touched me. You are both so real with your feelings and struggles. I appreciate your candor. Farm life can be very challenging. You are such great examples of how it really is. Thank you
Congratulations on Rose, becoming pregnant. I am glad you are making decisions that are best for the two of you. Very interesting video. Love watching you guys!

No need to apologize to me. I appreciate your experience and sharing what happens on your homestead! Keep up the good work.
So sorry you’ve taken heat for what was a very good video. I did get the sense you were unsettled and processing the experience and advice. And your openness resulted in a new beginning. Love y’all ❤❤❤
Life is constantly teaching us & its natural that not everything always goes as planned. I appreciate you sharing your homesteading journey with us!
You and Sara have "the best" homestead videos. The best!
Yeah for you starting over and honestly you did all you could with the other quail. Glad you can begin again on these quality birds.
I appreciate you guys showing the reality of homesteading….things do not work sometimes and you have to adjust. Thanks for all the knowledge!
You have nothing to apologize for. You always care and do what's best for your animals. I wish you guys all the best. Good luck with the new eggs.
No apology needed , you do you. I love watching your channel because of your truthful raising foods, animals, and all the ways you run your homestead.
Thank you Kevin & Sarah. Prayers. God Bless you all in Love. Maranatha ! ( shared to f/b )
I appreciate that y’all share the successes and the things that don’t go so well. ❤
I appreciate your caring enough not to make the quail unhappy.
I love how you make your decisions wisely. To better suit your lifestyle. God bless you 🙏 ❤️
Your homestead your decisions. No apology necessary! Love your channel
I appreciate the thought put into this and the information. It's not easy pleasing everyone and were all a work in progress. Y'all do a fantastic job .
NO NEED to apologize to anyone, you live and learn, all you can do is your best.... great videos... Hello from Ireland ☘☘
Kevin...it's always a learning experience. I know you'd never do anything to harm an animal on purpose.
I don’t think you have anything to apologize for. You two are a great couple who do a lot to help others learn how to do things to improve the quality of their lives.
You don’t owe any apology for doing what’s best for your family and livestock. Good luck on this new quail project 👍🏼
Thank you for being honest in your videos and sharing the challenges as well as the praises from your homestead. Enjoy all your videos
Awe you guys are the best farmers honest down to earth glad to hear all the good n bad n sad stuff if i lived closier i would get some chickens from you can’t wait to see all the new things coming
Please don’t apologize. We love you. You are the expert
Thank you for being and having generous hearts even to feel like you should explain your decisions for doing what you do(which you really shouldn't have to do). xoxo
Love you and I share❣️❣️🫶🫶🥰🙏🏻🙏🏻God Bless you and keep you safe ❣️
Great news about the American Bresse chickens. They are popular and hard to get these days.
Love you Kevin...great problem solving and you have such integrity and respect for living things.
My Family and I love your channel. You and your wife do an amazing job. We appreciate all the information that you share with all of your successes and failures. We really appreciate it THANK YOU.
Can't tell you how much my wife and I enjoy your content. We would be proud to have you as neighbors. Keep it up.
God Bless you Sarah and Kevin! What a lovely and blessed video. TY for all the hard work you do for God!
Kudos to you both forvdoing what's right for your life & your homestead ❣️👍🏽😊
But, when it comes right down to it,
it's YOUR homestead.
Explaining your decisions, is fine; but, you have no need to apologize for them.
We, sitting in the comfort of our own homes, have no right to criticized, or judge, your choices.
"Baahh Ram Ewe"
(from the movie "Babe").
Thank you
The whole purpose of homesteading is sustainability. I applaud you for your efforts
It's about what works you the individual
Congratulations on Rose, becoming pregnant.
I am glad you are making decisions that are best for the two of you.
Very interesting video. Love watching you guys!
Homesteading is hard enough but I imagine sharing with all of us makes it more so. Thanks for continuing to share, even when it's hard. I appreciate you!
Always thoughtful and responsible. Thanks for sharing your journey.
