Also, does anyone have a better image of the U.S. map in the book? It looks like the pdf is missing a part of the center of the map. Possibly a 7 or more stars in the area missing?

Did you ask why he left the apple in place after all of this time, if he thought the hunt was dead and no one was looking anymore?

    @ George & the team...
The author said the 🍎 is safe and still where he hid it... Was wondering if you guys asked 1. Are all the clues/references still intact/in place you would need to solve.. 2. Would you be able to solve from home/library or is there elements that would have to be BOTG to figure out..? And if didn't ask do you think worth it to shoot an email asking? Doesn't divulge anything that helps solve but at the same time would be helpful and encouraging in hypothesizing...

We didn't ask any of that.
Honestly we only asked if the Apple was still available and Cam volunteered the rest of the information.
It was important to preserve the hunt in the exact way it has been, and was presented 40 years ago.

@@mr.underhill9045 officially, they do not allow digging in the park under any circumstances.

That is disheartening but not detouring... Either way is valuable information... I appreciate your response and commitment towards providing "tools" for EVERYONE in effort to assist in solving these puzzles... Truly Admirable!!!!

I'd love to make a treasure hunt someday! I feel like I have the painterly chops, and also the writing and cipher chops. What I lack is the money chops to fund the prize(s). 😆Someday, though!

Haven’t really digested the poem or book yet, but a couple of things jumped out at me: acrostic of “ALTO” which may be a music reference. The poem also hints to a “short rest”, which could also be a rest in music. The shortest rest is also called a crotchet. While crotchet and crochet are two different words, another part of the poem has the words “needle” and “point” (needlepoint). It also uses words like haystack and pine needles, so we might be looking for something having to do with music + sewing.
