- Thembelani Zondo, a highschooler from the town of Woodford South Africa, built a car and robotics from scrap material. Reporter Ihsaan Haffejee has more on this young innovator.

I know a similar story, and my advice to Thembelani is: Don’t waste your time. Complete your studies, go to university, and pursue the specialty you love. Anything else may be a waste of time, or even life itself! You are talented. Channel your talent in the right direction and enroll in university. This is the real challenge you should strive to achieve!

For us to bring that change , we need to be self-sufficient in terms of knowledge and funding never depend on any one to execute our ideas to life. Just like the gentleman in this video. Imagine if he had finished high school and went on to the engineering school. With bo doubt, he'd get funding with his capabilities. On top of that, he'd get deeper knowledge on what he wants to specialize in (robotics). He would be one of the next greatest engineers in south africa.....the benefits of education goes on

As an engineer working all over in South Africa, I'll say this, resourcefulness and creativity are two natural talents to be nurtured.

Even the most educated people won't do those projects he did on their own at home, he uses a trial and error without education. The car one I see, people have done lots of them at home but that hand one is probably the most difficult one to do without education. He dropped way too early in school but books are honestly not for everyone that's why we have people who prefer hand work than "brain work" though electronics need some brains. I hope to work with him in the near future with projects I have in mind, let me save this video... hope to meet him in the near future.
We need people like that, who are inspired...he just lacks funding. If he can do that with scraps imagine what he can do if he had access to real materials. I would like to meet him, what's his social handles?

1. He needs Christ in his life
2. He needs to finish high school and pass Maths & Science with distinction.
3. He needs to study Mechatronics, Electrical & Computer Eng, Computer Eng, or Computer Science.
4. He needs to find a good job (his family needs him, let him focus on getting out of poverty first)
5. He can then start consulting for BMW, Merc, and other auto makers in SA
6. Once he has experience he can leave SA to go work for international auto markers
7. He needs to go to business school
8. He needs to build his own car using his own funds
9. He can now ask for funding
A dream without a plan, grit or discipline will remain just a dream.
