China pledges $51 billion for Africa infrastructural projects and job creation

  • China’s President Xi Jinping used the China-Africa Cooperation Summit, FOCAC, to pledge $51 billion over three years to support infrastructural projects and job creation in Africa - a move that experts say is proof that the Asian nation is strengthening its cultural, political and economic ties to the continent.
    For insight, VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Paul Nantulya, a specialist on Chinese affairs and analyst at Africa at the Center for Strategic Studies.
