- TEAM SGG PATREON / somegadgetguy Vivo V30 Pro review! The "fashionable" Vivo mid-ranger phone gets in interesting upgrade. It's not much more powerful than last year's V series. If the chip inside hasn't changed, then what got better? EVERYTHING else! Let's take a look!

MAJOR update to my performance and benchmark charts, adding the V30 Pro, Xiaomi 14, and Galaxy S24 Ultra! www.patreon.com/posts/xiaomi-14-galaxy-99340774
I always love it when you review the RAW output on phones. Keep it up!
Yeah if I want something on the midrange, the 8200 performance is what I'll look for in 2024. It's not weak enough to stutter on high end games, but strong enough to do most daily tasks with great stability.
This sounds like an awesome social media photography phone
Props to Vivo for what they are doing! Phones like this or why I really hate this idea of the "biggest newest bestest" chip being the selling point of a device because if I can competently show you that my chip can perform all the things that you need to do and way more than you think with practical examples of the output, then it shouldn't be a problem to continue to use older chips/newer chips that match that output (but less expensive than the latest), and as you say spruce up the rest of the device. Instead we get a bunch of companies chasing the latest spec upgrades so that they can justify price increases rather than doing what's best for the consumer and ultimately having better Business over time.
It's honestly awesome to see things like this.
Using a chipset in the midrange that won't make you feel like you're completely missing out.
The specs aren't lopsided. You're not getting a 120hz screen but only 6gb of ram with a heavy manufacturer skin.
Faster charging than phones that cost far more money and cameras that, while sure they're down the food chain, if you don't have experience with that it won't matter.
Oh and also ditching that sacrilegious macro sensor for a proper zoom lens.
That Dimesnity 8200 is meant to directly rival Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 or 7+ Gen 2, yet it can be on par with Snapdragon 888, 888+, and even 8 Gen 1 for benchmark performance. There should be no problem for Vivo to give us USB3 with wired video out for this phone.
title reminded me of my good ol LG V30
I know... Sigh...
Love to see ZEISS treatment on midrange phones. I remembered Oppo did kind of a similar thing by giving the flagship-grade MariSilicon X custom IPU to the Reno8 Pro, and it's a belter. This is a great alternative for those who still want a great camera performance but never care about having flagship chipset.
Definitely curious about this one. Can i live without the goodies the pixel offers to have the full om potential of the selfie camera on this one? Hmmm
Loving the clean design of the V30 Pro, and the 12GB RAM paired with the Dimensity 8200 sounds like a recipe for smooth multitasking!
Hi Juan, thanks for your reviews. What do you think about the vivo x100 ultra? is wondamobile a good shop? or is better tradingshenzen to buy phones from China? thanks!
Wanted to buy a VIVO... but couldn't find a shop here in Japan, not even Amazon got them!
What's the updates commitment of vivo for this device?
Would love to see a benchmark comparison between the V30 Pro by Dimensity 8200 and other phones in this price range
this is on point.
It'll be weird to get a Vivo V60 Pro... A spiritual successor of a certain LG device? If they keep releasing phones this good when they get to that point, I don't know what could they come up with but it'll be amazing, even though it isn't "a flagship" (which, at this point, everyone might not need at all with this level of performance on a mid-range phone)
Another fashionista phone in market is of course Nothing phone series. But, that has very compromise camera performance, even though most of other aspects is better than this V30 Pro. But for me, as a photography nerds, it is nice to see some camera brands in midrange lineup. Kinda reminds me of Lumia 720, 735, 820, 830 series. That time of lineup has the best camera performers in the segment but lacks of OS support.
Could it be on par with the X100 cameras? I know X100 is better overall but does those differences make a big impact considering V30 Pro and X100 are very close in price and both offer Zeiss Cameras.
Nope. X100 is a step higher. Better sensors, and more capable hardware for image processing.
SoC's are getting more powerful but under utilized by today's modern apps.
Don't forget Desktop Mode. Most smartphone OEMs don't want to include it on their phones or even give USB3 with wired video out since it'll hurt their Android tablet sales.
Dimensity 8200 synthetic scores are more like SD 888
And it's supposed to be a direct rival to Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 or 7+ Gen 2. MediaTek is on a roll.
Yesss I would want to spend my money on that unique Aura Light flash! I couldn't care less about the latest SOC whatever... 😂😂 Hahaha. I can't wait to buy the regular V30 once it's available!!
Saying 'The Gram' was dead when I was a senior in highschool... 10 years ago....
No... I'm PRETTY sure ten years ago was the 1990s...
Within 40k is that any better mobile than v30 pro . Main think I want camera. Plzz tell

Juan, has the recent news about Gemini and the implications for what Google has become given you pause to reconsider using their products? This isn't about politics...its really about Google deliberately occluding truth in news they push to us android users.
I don't consider companies ONE THING. When youve worked around them, and with them, as long as I have, you see they are these blobs of parts with different amounts of power.
At once I can praise the pixel team, and I'm excited to see what they do, AND I can be viscerally disappointed in the search and RUclips teams for unravelling the fabric of society.
The AI stuff? I think pressure to push LLMs is silly, and we'll have to see if it really lasts longer than previous fads like NFTs.
Price.. Price Buyers Link 🔗.. Price Buyers Link .. price
Vivo are on the right track to becoming a powerhouse with the x100pro and the v30 pro BUT
Surprised reviewers haven't spoke about their 5 year old design language, the slim silver frame around the sides on both of the phones I mentioned is soo unpractical and dated it really ruins excellent hardware..they need to look at Samsung, apple and especially the recent mi14 phones for inspiration..
Flat wide frames around the phones, minimal curvature of screens and vivos rear plates look and feel dated they should use ceramic to really make the back of the phone feel premium
Vivo are soo close they just need to move into 2024 with their design team
But what you percieve as modern or futuristic nice design others may percieve as pain in the eye or outright ugly. I don't like sharp, boxy design, both looking at it and holding it, it looks like it was designed with no effort and holding such a phone (like modern iPhones or Galaxies...) is very uncomfortable in hand. While some people like to say the boxy design is more practical (which I'd argue against, since I don't see Apple putting bigger batteries or more tech into their boxy phones), I prefer and I think the majority of users do as well a comfortable build.
I think it's good for the market that some brands chose their own path and don't cave in to the masses of other phone manufacturers and don't make their phone look just like another general copy of an iPhone.
@@czkmeister I get that but the vivo x100 pro does not look premium from the back or feel it, I have the blue variant .. The xiaomi m11 to this day still looks like the most premium phone out there
