You have a wonderful voice. If you were reading from cue cards to do this video -well done! I have often abandoned an audio book that I really enjoyed in print form because I felt the narrator did not suit the role. You could read the periodic tables and hold my interest.

Thank you for your lovely comment! It means a lot to hear that my narration could keep you engaged, even with something as dry as the periodic table! You can hear samples from several of my audiobooks on my website - www.andystevensonvo.com. Just click on 'audiobooks' in the top line menu and I would be glad to email you a free download of any one of the audiobooks that you like the sound of. It would be my thank you for your encouraging comment!

I’m more interested in VO work in general, including audio books, computer games, adverts, etc. Do you need to get an agent?

No you don't need to have an agent. I don't have one and whilst I now concentrate almost entirely on audiobook work, it is possible to get VO work without having to pay an agent's commission. For VO work, I enlisted on a number of web sites such as Voices.com, Voices 123, Mandy and even freelancer sites like People Per Hour and Fiverr. But I found that there is a lot of competition out there and often when auditioning, I was competing with around 100 others so I was spending a lot of time sending off auditions and not getting chosen regularly enough. That's why I switched to audiobook work as I had built up a bit of a reputation in that field. If you're just starting out, my advice would be to get some professional coaching from an experienced VO artist (I had a one day session only with Gary Terzza (UK) and through that, create a show reel of samples of your voice, then get yourself signed up on the VO web sites. Of course, it is also important to get yourself some equipment and set up a suitable recording space; I have some videos on my channel about both. But try finding out what terms agents work to, as it might also open doors for you, but I am guessing it is going to cost a bit! Good luck! Cheers, Andy.
