Maybe this is the right word, but soaps were much more fun back in the day before we had social media and tabloids to spoil everything. Addie’s death was a huge shock, just like many years later when they killed Renee DeMira
Patricia Barry (Addie) gave an interview and said that Addie was originally supposed to die from her Leukemia battle, but when she leaked that bit of info, the writer at the time, Bill Bell, was pissed and had Addie killed a different way (via the car accident)... so yes, in a time before spoilers, stories were sacred and everything was done for them to stay that way. Reneé's death... irked me a little. Mostly because she survived being the victim of one serial killer just to wind up being a victim of another.
TheBeverlyHillsHaveEyes Yes, and they weren’t bringing people back to life no matter how definitively they died. Killing off a major character and a member of the main family was bold. It had repercussions that went on for years. And they never tried to resurrect her.
@@jaredjlinden Bill Bell was so good at doing that. Not long after he killed Addie off on Days, he killed of Philip Chancellor on Young & Restless. That death drove storyline for decades.
I subscribe to Peacock and so far have not been able to find them on their website. I read the same thing that they would "port over" all the early episodes as well, but so far, I have not found them. so sad. Miss all the Horton and Brady families. they were the mainstay of Days of Our Lives
The problem with soaps nowadays is people have no patience. They don’t want to wait a year or two before couples actually become couples. People fall in and out of love so fast that when people claim they love them act other the fans don’t believe them. The fact that they keep bringing people back from the dead is a cheap trick that’s way over used. There are no real stakes no real consequences to anything people do in soaps.
Agree 100%. Been saying that forever. The writers today have no clue. The old school writers built relationships slowly leaving the viewing audience yearn for more and tuning in.
I wish Addie came back as a Ghost to comfort Hope through the years
When soaps had substance; miss both of them.
I so agree❤
I wish I could see all the videos...
From the beginning..
U tube took them down!!!
How can we get them back
Tom & Alice WERE Days! Miss Dr. & Mrs. H!

And the acting is shit. All the females look the same, long ugly hair styles.
MacDonald Carey was terrific.
Addie had to die because her death caused Julie and Doug to get together.
The poignant scene in the show’s history ❤
Sensible Alice and unhappy Dr. Tom.
They STILL talk about her
Leave? Did they split? Can't remember
He did for awhile or she had but the love so strong it's a short time before getting back to together oh course the usual soap drama.
@@cindykoeppel8860 why? What's the story behind the reason?
Soap Gold!!
"It's God's will Tom."-....Ummm really Alice? Wow.
It seems so weird to us now, but that was a typical thing to say back then when people were more religious.
