I am guilty as charged of being one of those Mergana shippers, but I also love Merlin and Freya! Their episode still breaks my heart, as does Freya's tragic underutilizing by the writers. The Lady of the Lake is a fairly important character in the legends and I was fully expecting to see her more in that form (I still remember being sorely disappointed at them not using _her_ instead of a random water spirit to heal Merlin in 4x02 for example. It would have written itself, especially since Lancelot was also present and he too is connected to the Lady of the Lake in lore). So I totally agree with your description! It was so lovely to find a recent edit for them, this song is a classic and you brought back all the emotions with your scene selection. Freya's voice talking about her home near the lake playing over Merlin burying her in one is especially heartbreaking 😭 wonderful job!

Love Merlin and Freya together in this episode. In the whole tv series, Merlin was loved for who he was and Freya too. Too bad, these two characters were not part of another episode. They could have cut one of Gwen's episode as I did not believe Arthur and Gwen were really in love. Gwen: ''I only (or always) wanted to be your queen.''!!! I really wish we could’ve seen her in ghostly form as the lady of the lake. Since the lady of the lake is such an iconic part of the arthurian legend but we only saw her in a little puddle. It would’ve been nice to see her fully standing as a ghost where Merlin could get advice from her similiarly to how he did with the dragon or something like that Imo
