I have a photoshop file with a very soft, wide rectangular centered dark semi-transparent blot. I drop it in my timeline, position & scale it under a text or logo, bring the opacity to zero and then very slowly raise the opacity back up a tiny bit until the logo pops out. Just a dab ‘l do ya. The advantage of the blot is it’s an apply to more than just text and can be multiple grouped things at once- like a lower third animation.
