Trivia… My parents and us 5 kiddos lived in Fairfax, VA in the late 50’s/early 60’s. There was minimal urban sprawl @ that time. My dad was a building contractor w his own business. He hired day laborers who queued @ the corner by Hubert Delany’s hardware store…where he purchased most of his building materials. Most of the homes were going up out by the airport in new subdivisions. Dad built our modern split level on half an acre just a bit east of Fairfax proper. We even had a pony in our backyard! Mom liked to shop in Merrifield & Falls Church. I was born in Arlington Hospital. We’d return often to visit the area after moving to the Midwest. But now so much has changed, or is totally gone. Many fond memories!
I love your channel sooo much!!❤ I'm from Monterrey,Mexico living in texas and I get so excited every time you find those unique pieces, omg the jacket!! 😍 love your hair style!
Your face lit up with those jacket finds, just like mine did the other day when I spotted a French Connection wool coat, a Max & Co jacket, and a vintage Ralph Lauren jumper, all in the same store (our UK thrift stores tend to be much smaller than US ones)🤩
What an amazing thrift store ❤ So many gems, it has taken me all summer to thrift my fall wardrobe, but I am happy with my purchases, some times I walked out empty handed but some days the thrifting Gods blessed me and I found great treasures… I thrifted Cole Haan Suede black boots last week for $3.59 Love your haul, you made great choices ❤️ my favorite is the burn out Bolero
The pie plate - I have one that has a chicken pot pie recipe on it. I use the pie plate all the time. Love the size & weight of it...... never have made the recipe printed on it though.
I mean…. COME ON….!!! That was a good good day of thrifting. I literally experienced an endorphin rush myself seeing that patch suede bomber being put on. 😅 so so so so good!
The problem with so many items I see new, or preloved, is the poor quality materials used to make them. So many jumpers, for example, are acrylic, which won’t stay looking nice for long, at least if you want to get lots of use out of them. I don’t have a store to buy for, just looking for myself, so I’m focusing on quality pieces only this year.
That is a nice store. I am nowhere near it. lol. BTW, I have a nice collection of those pie plates. I mostly collect Jeanette and Watkins plates. Mine are from 81 and 83 made in the USA. So they are over 40 years old. So great to make pies with. Enjoy your plate and your haul. 😁
Oh wow! That's great to know, mine is not dated and I haven't researched yet. Thanks! I decided that it would also make a really great gift idea... bake the pie to give to someone and then when they finish eating it, they have the recipe right there (that must have been the idea, right?)
The housewares were popping! I loved the lamps and the wooden butterfly dish. The clothes look so nicely curated at this store. That Don't Stop jacket and the checkered sweater are amazing!
I love a good flannel! Jacketscore! Love the rusty sweather, very fall I love fringes. That skirt what a find! Very fun! Love your styling Thank you for sharing and inspiering us X
Nikki, thanks for bringing us all these great thrifting hauls and try on's. Blown away by the store and the items you found. You did an awesome job of styling the items your purchased.
Checkered cardigans with fuzzy trim and buttons for neutral fall clowncore. I love that, I need clowncore to become the same aesthetic as the Deviant Moon pieces by Patrick Valenza. This store is really hitting.
Everything looked amazing on you...As usual! Also loved the teapot! On a side note, it's funny how coffee pots pour really well but teapots tend to dribble tea all over the place. Always thought that it was a design flaw that needed fixing...lol.
Virginia is for lovers... and thrifting 😅 I've been here 10 years and I think it's the best thrifting I've experienced (so far anyway 😉). At least you can come along with me on RUclips anyway! 💕
Cannot wait for your claw clip hairstyle 💇♂ tutorial just waiting for the day when you’re gonna film 🎞 claw clip hairstyle 💇♂ tutorial on RUclips Nikki.
Ohhh ☺️ that's a good question. I actually think that I just did not pronounce that word very well. I meant "chenille". (Which, if you are unfamiliar, refers to that particular type of yarn). I hope that helps!
Good question! It depends on the tag instructions and/or fiber content. I actually just use the handwash cycle with cold water on my machine most often (I have an older top-loader) and then hang dry on a rack. Sometimes I add a bit of Oxyclean if there are odors. I don't typically take stuff to a cleaner if I can clean it with a home dry cleaner kit (Woolite is my go-to). And another easy option for natural fibers is to put it in the freezer for 24 - 48 hours (the cold helps kill odor causing bacteria). Works great between light wears!
Hmmm I think if you are reeeally sensitive to wool that you might find cashmere a bit itchy. I personally always layer mine over something (even a tank top). Cashmere will definitely keep you quite warm! For me, cashmere feels so soft and cozy to the touch, but once I start moving around and my body is warming up, that's when it starts to feel a tiny bit itchy. So the layering keeps me comfortable. I hope that helps!
@@NikkiTerryStyle Thank you Nikki for your reply about cashmere. I know it looks beautiful but being my skin is a little on the sensitive side, it may not be good for me. I might look for one at the thrift store that doesn't cost too much, layer it like you suggested and maybe see if that might work. If not, and still itchy, at least I won't have spent too much money on the item.
Lovely, and that plaid jacket with the velvet collar? Imagine with a pair of comfy faux velvet palazzo pants❤ the Talbot's 2pc brocade is fabulous also. You shopped for all of us... especially those who are still looking at another two/three months of summer 😂

HI! Great Finds! A question, as I'm here to learn: Why do you refer to the checked "Sweater Sweater" as a "CHANEL" ?? Thanx for the info
Ohhh ☺️ that's a good question. I actually think that I just did not pronounce that word very well. I meant "chenille". (Which, if you are unfamiliar, refers to that particular type of yarn). I hope that helps!
How do you wash those vintage sweaters? Dry clean?
Good question! It depends on the tag instructions and/or fiber content. I actually just use the handwash cycle with cold water on my machine most often (I have an older top-loader) and then hang dry on a rack. Sometimes I add a bit of Oxyclean if there are odors. That red vest was your color! I’m commenting before done so if you didn’t get it, hint down that color!
Hi,
Do you know if cashmere tops or sweaters can be itchy?
Hmmm I think if you are reeeally sensitive to wool that you might find cashmere a bit itchy. I personally always layer mine over something (even a tank top). Colorful clothes are great, esp for plain looking people. Than the attention is guided down, away from the face. Love your style!
Lovely, and that plaid jacket with the velvet collar? Imagine with a pair of comfy faux velvet palazzo pants❤ the Talbot's 2pc brocade is fabulous also.
You shopped for all of us... especially those who are still looking at another two/three months of summer 😂
