I’m a 50-year-old l West Virginia coal Miner, working six days a week I understand every lyric to this song it is my life it’s not the choice I made. Thank you, Brad. Not many people understand you nailed it.
No doubt Brother!! My Grandma and her 2 Brothers left Taylor County, WV 100 years ago for opportunities in Ohio. I remember visiting where they were raised back in the 80's. Bare bones poverty, but the nicest, kindest people on this earth
The bar he refers to is right down the road from where he lived. It's where we all became men learning to drown the down. I've spent too much time there to even remember. This one really gives me hope that music hasn't really died. Just wrote him and told him so.
I'm a Substance Abuse Counselor and I've seen the reality of this song. Thank you, Brad for singing about this issue that the majority of the rest of the world turns a blind eye to. May God bless you and yours.
I don’t sense any authenticity here definitely when it’s coming from a guy who said getting the JAB is a patriotic thing. He doesn’t care about the people he is singing about. Mainstream is trying to find a way to tap into this sound that is exploding. He’s just trying to refresh his image after taking horrible stances the past couple years. Stances which completely contradict the words he’s singing!!!!!! Everyone don’t feed into this bullshit!
Holy shit. I've never heard him sing like this. Thank you, not only for this song- but never forgetting your roots...even though sometimes it feels easier to do just that... I'm a wv native. My "home" in roane county- the county I remember growing up in- is but a mere memory. What has taken it over rips my heart out... But it's the reality of it.
Holy smokes, this is dead on the money with what has happened to the heart of Appalachia. I watched my father get beat to pieces moving coal for the Elk River Railroad. His work broke his back down till he couldn't work anymore, but it wasn't his job that took him from us. It was the medicine that the pain clinic doctor promised would ease the pain.
What a beautiful song of a true and grim reality that I hope will help garner the attention it so deeply deserves. May God Bless us all for we are sons & daughters. Those lost, survivors, and daily risers one and all.
Wow, is this a new song just seeing the light of day? So glad a ‘mainstream artist’ is tapping into the grassroots scenes that are really taking hold these days. Very nice!!
Unfortunately you're just going to see more good and genuine artists sell their souls as a result of all this country music hype that's going on. Like that shitbag Childers promoting depravity.
Good to see Brad has not forgotten his roots. Around Wheeling where he grew up, this is reality. The problem is that Brad and Oliver Anthony care more than our elected officials who make sure this legal poison keeps flowing into Appalachia
Very well done . I grew up in the coal fields of southern West Virginia on the Kentucky border There is 100% truth in this song I graduated high school in 1993 , immediately left and joined the Marines . Had a good tour of 4 years ,, been in Tennessee since then . Love to go home and visit , but thankful I never had to make a living there
That's exactly what I was thinking. Hearing Grady Smith address that in one of his latest videos, it's nice to see even big-name Nashville artists go back to more strip-down acoustic music and videos. ruclips.net/video/nyHd-XaHUAE/видео.htmlsi=qKYOTGm-NjHWHVF0 (Jump to 10:40 to see the comment, though the entire video is a very informative thesis) I love me some of the newer stuff by Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers, Charles Wesley Godwin, Sam Barber, Chris Stapleton, and the aforementioned Oliver Anthony and all of those artist from that independent/songwriter scene. But to see guys like Brad Paisley, a gent I grew up listening too, go back to this aesthetic really warms my heart. I missed his music from the American Saturday Night album and everything prior to it. It's nice to hear a really talented songwriter and singer and guitarist like Brad to let that talent shine without any of the highly edited production that Wheelhouse to Love and War had.
I am subscriber to this channel.. Love it.. People I never heard before... Mr Paisley, there is a reason you are where you are in your career.. This acoustic song is proof to why you are successful. WELL DONE 👍
I never comment, but I think Oliver Anthony is bringing these I've had fame country guys back to their roots. I loved country until it wasn't county anymore. Everyone was too fearful to sing the truth of what was actually happening. Thanks for bringing light to such a horrendous situation everyone everywhere is facing.
I/we live this and I can't think of a better song to explain the Appalachian epidemic we're suffering and living through. Families, loved ones, friends gone.... for a few dollars. Thank you for doing this! 😢
Absolutely wonderful. From his cover of You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive, to this original song, Brad really understands the pain in the hills of the Appalachian coal pits of eastern America.
Best seat in the house.... This was so cool... Like a personal concert out in them their mountains!! I am in awe of this guy! From the unbelievable skill on his Telecaster to a bare bone's performance on the "old Martin" .......He inspires me to keep trying to get better on guitar and as a person!!
This raw performance is seriously above amazing. When all these new artists are coming out with the raw sound (which I love) brad shows everyone why he's the og.
Glen Dale WV Native seems to be getting away from the grips of Nashville and back to his roots of the harsh reality of the Ohio Valley, it’s nice to see some light shed on such a dim situation for many that live there.
Finally get to see and hear the real talent of Brad Paisley, not that over marketed crap you hear on the radio. Good on you Brad!!! Great message here.
The only country singer that ive ever listened to.,also, the only one, i ever will.thank you for this song.i hope the people that did this to us,get theirs..big pharma is guilty.⚔️
Just want to wish the West Virginia Songbird a very blessed Birthday and more birthdays and songs to come! You're really wonderful you know. You're Golden 🎉🎉❤❤❤🎉🎉
I'm from WV. I want to know what's being done to help our people, our kids. Everyone's addicted. It's a shame what our towns have become. There's no rehabs being built up. There's no mental health facilities popping up. Where's the help for our children. NO ONE DOES ANYTHING.
The truth! This song is the truth. I won’t calm to be a coal miner, but I know the “meds” in those bottles sure can turn a good man into a devil far too fast to “fix” my own problems
Never been much into mainstream music, country especially. Ol boy playing the truth here tho. Sounds so much better when it’s far from the Nashville crowd
I’m a 50-year-old l West Virginia coal Miner, working six days a week I understand every lyric to this song it is my life it’s not the choice I made. Thank you, Brad. Not many people understand you nailed it.
Cute....
I'm from Logan county I live in Georgia now I've lost people close to me I know what he's singing about
No doubt Brother!! My Grandma and her 2 Brothers left Taylor County, WV 100 years ago for opportunities in Ohio. I remember visiting where they were raised back in the 80's. Bare bones poverty, but the nicest, kindest people on this earth
but he sold out to the globalists by doing a song with a scam president. explain that. wake up
Any man who had killed their body to make a living in construction or mining and power plants and so much more can understand this song to the core
The bar he refers to is right down the road from where he lived. It's where we all became men learning to drown the down. I've spent too much time there to even remember. This one really gives me hope that music hasn't really died. Just wrote him and told him so.

God bless Brad Paisley 🙏
Damn fine song Brad! So awesome for you to be on the channel! More proof this is where REAL country music is!!
Haven't heard something as authentic and powerful from Brad since the early 2000's. a true return to form here
I don’t sense any authenticity here definitely when it’s coming from a guy who said getting the JAB is a patriotic thing. He doesn’t care about the people he is singing about. Mainstream is trying to find a way to tap into this sound that is exploding. He’s just trying to refresh his image after taking horrible stances the past couple years. That's what I said! He hasn't been worth listening to for well over a decade at least. This was amazing to hear!
As a West Virginian, I feel the power and truth behind every word. Can’t wait to hear this on the new album!
Damn!! What a mighty fine song!!
I hope this catches steam and goes viral...important message.
Another storyteller singing another masterpiece we need the life he's singing about back simple and innocent
Thank you for the love and support❤💪
That's the Song Of The Year right there. It SHOULD be.
It's rare to get this side of Brad, and it's a treasure to hear. It almost reminds me of "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive", from his Part II album.
Really enjoyed this Brad......you are indeed a true Son of West Virginia. The citizens are proud of you.
Ma'n why is this song not blowed up 😢
What a beautiful song of a true and grim reality that I hope will help garner the attention it so deeply deserves. May God Bless us all for we are sons & daughters. Those lost, survivors, and daily risers one and all.

Great song. 👍
Jumping on the bandwagon
Good to see Brad has not forgotten his roots. Around Wheeling where he grew up, this is reality. The problem is that Brad and Oliver Anthony care more than our elected officials who make sure this legal poison keeps flowing into Appalachia
It's sad to say that I felt this way too much, having lost a bunch of family and friends, but it IS an awesome song and I appreciated hearing it.
Very well done . I grew up in the coal fields of southern West Virginia on the Kentucky border
There is 100% truth in this song
I graduated high school in 1993 , immediately left and joined the Marines . Had a good tour of 4 years ,, been in Tennessee since then . Love to go home and visit , but thankful I never had to make a living there
hauntingly beautiful lyrics and melody

Oliver Anthony is bringing out the best of other artists ❤️ Brad back to his roots
That's exactly what I was thinking. Hearing Grady Smith address that in one of his latest videos, it's nice to see even big-name Nashville artists go back to more strip-down acoustic music and videos.

This is the Brad Paisley music I like! Great song!
Absolutely wonderful. From his cover of You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive, to this original song, Brad really understands the pain in the hills of the Appalachian coal pits of eastern America.
I bet it really tears him up as he's lounging around in his mansion smoking fine Cuban cigars.

Love that Martin tone
My favourite lyric is “then the devil’s in mg”. I bet your English teacher is so proud! I love this song, even though it’s about such an awful truth.
Yessirrr!! 🔥
This isn't a song it's a truth cry
Cool
🥹🥰♥️💯💯💯🙏🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank your for this… I’d love to see u in person… where do u normally play?
The truth! This song is the truth. I won’t calm to be a coal miner, but I know the “meds” in those bottles sure can turn a good man into a devil far too fast to “fix” my own problems
I didn't know Hank Azaria sang country music. Is there anything that man can't do.
Daddy Brad!!
Brad question what town did you used in your music video?
This is fantastic but will never get radio play.
This song is true country. Not the nonsense they play on the radio. Well done Mr Paisley
🔥❤️🔥
Never been much into mainstream music, country especially. Ol boy playing the truth here tho. Sounds so much better when it’s far from the Nashville crowd
Wow… The recording sounds so full and full of dubs… But this is just Brad with his guitar and you can barely tell it’s not the recording
Is this a new jam?? Never heard it before
Amazing. Too common of a story.
Listen to Donald ray newsome song called methadone
I can't find it. Post link.
"The drugstore and the undertaker...the only business that boom." Ouch.
Why he out side
