    I have the original LP record autographed by Lata didi and her brother Pt. Hridayanath Mangeshkar. It is a family heirloom and my earliest memories of my life since 1972 are listening to this when my late parents played and hummed to it. All of these masters who created this absolute masterpiece. The depth of this devotional bhajan is, of course, the lyrical composition itself by the 16th century Bhakti Saint Meera Bai, an ardent, surrendered devotee of our Lord Krishna. Born and married into a powerful royal family, she gave up all worldly matters to His devotion and ultimately became one with The Divine. She sings in the local Rajasthani dialect Marwari. Every bhajan from this album is a masterpiece in itself and I truly believe that Saint Meera bai’s soul entered Lataji when she sang these. My absolute admiration for you of your immaculate understanding of this entire composition and Indian Classical Music. Much respect and warmest greetings from India. 🇮🇳🙏🙏💐💐☺️☺️

    Here we have a foreigner who understands the miracle voice of Lata ji, while many Indians have already started forgetting her and now RUclipsrs are busy posting neo singers who get nowhere even close to Lataji and openly commenting that they are far better than her. It’s a shame how Indians don’t have respect for our own icons. To say one, people even mentioned that Runa Laila and Nazia Hassan were far better than the mangeshkar sisters. The whole mangeshkar family has this unique god given gift of music and lataji is like goddess saraswati herself in person. My lifelong respect to this humble and divine soul.

    • @hiteshahir2671
      @hiteshahir2671 2 дня назад

      Lataji has achieved the height rare have been achieved in modern history of “Indian popular( cinema) music”. She was blessed with art of singing by goddess Saraswati. So she is not goddess herself but she is a fruit of godess' boon. We even have not known to many music artists of history (dhrupad, Hindustani and Karnatak classic music). We have heard legend about Tansen singing Raga Megh Malhar and bringing down rain. We had classical maestro Bhimsen Joshi. We had Salamat Ali khan (Lata Mangeshkar wanted to marry with salamat Ali khan but as he was already married he turned down her proposal and she chose to remain unmarried afterwards) across the border. Being a Pakistani he sang khayal gaayki which was based on our ancient dhrupad ( ancient Tansen style of music) gaayki. And there were so many other great singers too.
      Godess Saraswati boons artist not only “art of singing”, singing is just a samll piece of stone of a mountain of arts. There are somany “forms of art”. Therefore
      It is not right to make Lata ji sit on the throne of Saraswati Devi. It is a different thing to have respect for a person but one should not say this out of emotion or even in exaggeration.

    It fascinates me how you appreciate literally the same things that a seasoned listener to Indian classical music would. I have seen many uninitiated western people who listen to Indian music appreciate it for the sake of its novelty. They are more in awe of how different this is, rather than what it is actually saying. I think you're one of the very few western people who really understand the essence of it. I loved watching your genuine reaction to this one.

(I love her '40s pre-partition Indian film songs, her romantic '50s Pakistani film songs, and her '60s-'70s Sufi/dhamal songs, also from Pakistan.)

This is why she is treated as goddes of singing in India , she could use small spaces between the beats efficiently , play with rhythmical time , while keeping the notes as sharp as a knife and most important ..outstanding control on breathing . Try doing a reaction to a Marathi song by her..."Mogaraa phulalaa" where her voice, a flute and a taanpura is all that is there and the magic she weaves is like gods of music are dancing in her voicebox.

    I want to appreciate your attempt to sing along some of the words from compositions, these are very complex tongue twisters which normally English speakers could not do. But you did it very well and I highly appreciate for celebrating Lata ji, she was a gem of her own.

    Wow! Its great to watch and here your appreciation. You might as well know that other bhajans in this album are equally beautiful!
    Uniqueness of Pt. Hridaynath Mangeshkar's compositions is that he involves no or minimal electronic instruments.
    One more point, there is no violin used, that sound you mentioned is of Tanpura, the accompanying string instrument that holds the base notes throughout.
