- 1) I bought microfiber cloths at Fix Price. I’ll show you what useful and unusual uses I found for them.
I used microfiber when sewing a new case for my phone. Instead of a lining there will be this napkin, thanks to which the phone inside the case will self-clean. And it will also be protected from mechanical impact.
How to sew:
- I made an individual pattern: I traced the phone on paper, made allowances of 2 cm on the sides and 1.5 cm at the bottom, it’s better to make 2 cm here too.
- Material for sewing: linen and calico. To make them more rigid, I smoothed the non-woven fabric on the wrong side.
- I sewed a piece of rubber band, 13 cm long, onto the bottom part of the cover.
- I attached an oblique pocket for headphones to the front part.
- I attached a microfiber lining to each detail at the top.
- I straightened and connected the sewn parts with the right sides facing inward. I stitched in a circle, leaving room to turn it inside out.
- I turned the cover inside out and sewed up the hole by hand. I put the lining inside.
- I laid a finishing stitch along the edge.
- I sewed on a button.
The cover holds its shape, but is soft.
The phone is securely secured with a clasp, and at the same time cleans itself with a napkin. Beauty!
2) Microfiber cloths are good for more than just cleaning. They can be used to self-clean glasses. I'll show you how to do it.
How to sew a cover:
- First you need to make a pattern according to the size of your glasses. I put the glasses on a piece of paper and traced them along the outline, retreating about 1 cm on all sides.
- For the front side I took calico, there will be a napkin inside, and padding poly between them. Fastener - zipper.
- I placed the cut calico on top of the padding polyester and made a line along the contour, retreating 0.3 mm. I sewed a decorative strip on the side. I cut off the excess.
- Unzipped the zipper and stitched it to the front of the cover.
- Using the same line, I sewed a lining from a napkin and made a finishing stitch along this side.
- Now you need to unfold the cover so that the front part is connected to each other, and so is the back part. Make a stitch along the edge in a circle, leaving room for turning it inside out.
Make the stitching on the lining so that it is slightly smaller than the front part, so that when you turn it inside out, there will be no folds inside.
You also need to make sure that the beginning and end of the zipper are stitched exactly in the center.
- I turned the cover inside out and sewed up the hole by hand.
You can use it.
Now you can safely put your glasses case in your bag and not be afraid that they will get scratched. They are reliably protected and self-cleaning to boot.
3) Even the smallest scraps of fabric should not be thrown away. I’ll show you what worthy use I found for them.
Those who sew know how important it is to have good tailor’s scissors, because this is the main tool of any needlewoman. And he requires careful treatment.
A year ago I bought these for myself on Aliexpress. Excellent metal, the blades are sharp, cut perfectly any thickness, the size is just right and they don’t get dull.
And most importantly, the tips cut as much as needed with one touch. Under no circumstances should you put your hands under them, they are sharp as a blade; once I cut my finger along with the fabric.
It seems like they are already cutting without even touching the material.
She told her people not to touch them, not even to look in their direction. I store them separately from other scissors and take care of them as best I can. I never cut paper or tags with them, much less cardboard, only for fabric.
To keep them in perfect condition, scissors need a cover. I will sew it from calico.
- First I made a pattern, circled the scissors, leaving some free space.
- Prepared scraps of fabric. Even the smallest pieces can be put to use.
I will sew the pieces on top of each other:
- Place the first piece of fabric, then the second right side to the front. The third is exactly the same, all the time the fabric is located in a straight line. The flaps are stitched in random order.
- The excess can be cut off. It is better to iron the work after each line. As a result, all seams remain inside. I don’t know exactly what this technique is called, but it’s definitely a type of patchwork.
- When everything was sewn, I cut off the excess fabric along the contour of the pattern.
- For the front part of the cover, I cut out a strip and stitched it.
- The back part was reinforced with non-woven fabric, small strips were also useful. I attached a plain fabric to it.
- I connected the two parts of the cover and finished the edges with bias tape.
- It turned out both beautiful and functional.
- You can use it.
Such a fabric cover will definitely save the scissors from any damage and other accidents.

Салфетка на подклад - хорошая идея. Пока засовываешь телефон, заодно протираешь экран.
Это надо шить сразу после того, как свяжешь крючком салфетку на телевизор😅😅😅

А вот такое милое, рукодельное, приятнее взять в руки- мягкое, уютное, лёгкое, не занимает лишнего места в сумке, и всегда индивидуальное, какого ни у кого больше нет! У меня сшито похожий держатель для зврядки телефона.Висит около розетки.Передняя стенка чехла сделана почти также,как для очков,т.е.см на 6 ниже задней стенки
