  • There’s more than one way to pursue a bear - spot-and-stalk, baiting, hounds. Choose your weapon too - bow, rifle, or muzzleloader. They all have their intricacies. The good news, all are challenging, fun, and hopefully reward you with a bear for the freezer. We go through all these options with Ryan Lampers in our final installment of our spring bear special. Listen in to the end for some great shot placement advice. It may not be what you’ve heard before.

In the spring those bears will trip over the truck. Tear down electric fence, just to tear up my beehives in the back yard. I've seen them go around the barking dog on a chain. But I have worked with the game department and they won't go in their trap even with honeycomb in it. Pretty aware of their environment. They never stick around when I have a rifle on my back. They run like a fullback.

Really liked the part about shot placement because some people recommend high shoulder on whitetail but sounds like not such a good idea on black bear
