Windu hated Anakin's guts and had no empathy for his struggles.

@Interrupting Cow I agree, it was not fair. Palpatine obviously had the advantage as he took out 3 other Jedi. The odds were in the favor of Palpatine there. He still lost after those 3 were killed though. Maybe he would have won 1v1, but if that was the case then Windu would have been able to go all out as well.
Interrupting Cow Sidious took out those other Jedi almost immediately. Windu is a stronger duelist than Sidious, period. Deal with it.

To be honest, when I learned about Mace Windu's closeness to the dark side, I started thinking that he should have been the one to train Anakin rather than Obi Wan.
Either Mace Windu or Qui Gon Him would've been better masters for him to begin with. It's not necessarily that Obi Wan was a bad master it was because Master Kenobi lacked certain traits that Anakin needed in his life.
@@dylanbiggs3997 Obi Wan thought of him as a brother which as time goes on made his lose respect to Anakin. He should have been kept in the main jedi temple under most preferably Windu. Yoda lost his touch with the force so can't see him as a master of someone unstable like Anakin.

Windu chose to keep the very thing from Anakin which had helped him control his own Dark Side urges and could have helped Anakin find balance by teaching him Vaapad. Mace who himself struggled with some dark tendencies refused to teach Anakin, the Chosen One, because Anakin did the same? Sounds hypocritical. You'd think the Jedi would have done everything in their power to ensure the Chosen One they had been awaiting for millennia turned out right, instead of handing him over to an inexperienced Jedi like Obi-Wan who had just been knighted. Why not Yoda or Mace? Mace was just another reason amongst many why the Jedi themselves were the cause of their own downfall, they didn't treat Anakin with the necessary respect and care.

I think that they deliberatly made that decision so anakin doesnt become to powerfull. They already didnt agree for him to undergo the training at all.

I've always felt that Windu was tough on Anakin, because he saw a lot of himself in the chosen one. Which was probably scary considering that Windu was very aware of his short comings something that Anakin seemed unwilling to confront most of the time.

@Josh Anakin is the chosen one as far as I know, new cannon may have changed it I'm behind so I wouldn't know that. Regardless George Lucas always intended for Anakin Skywalker to be the chosen one of prophecy, and said so many times. Furthermore name one sith that Luke Skywalker kills in order to balance the force.
Yodas species don't feel that way though, they pretty much always follow the light side

Mace Windu really needs a movie. He was always my favorite. Had he not died everything would have been different. His death was ultimately Anakin choosing the dark side.

He might not have actually died. I mean, Palpatine survived his fall from Darth Vader, and Darth Maul survived being chopped in half by Konobi, which you learn from the clone wars series.
Windu really needed more to him, more fighting and flexing his ultimate battlemaster skills. Still my favorite canon character.
Mace Windu was also master to a Jedi who fell to the dark side. It must've been a major contributing factor to his treatment of Anakin.

And when push came to shove, he failed the real test miserably and betrayed everyone and himself. Proving Mace Windu right all along. Sometimes the ones who is tough on you the most has your best interest at heart. As Mace Windu knew what it takes and what Anakin was up against. He was trying to protect him. But Anakin was too blind to see it. Because all this talk about being the chosen one got to his head when he really hadn’t done anything to prove himself. He just had talent due to a high mitochlorian (however you spell it) count, but didn’t put in nearly enough effort or work to develop his other personal attributes and character.

This is why I love Mace so much. To constantly skirt so close to the dark side but always overcome your temptations and instead use them for good takes an inner strength that many do not have. It also made Mace far more relatable in my opinion as he wasn't constantly giving off an air of constantly being a goody goody. He often saw situations for what they were and due to having some dark side traits, knew not to be overly trusting of those even close to him.

Then his pleas in Palpatine's chambers were on the level. One speaking to their own. He knew the pull on Anakin but also knew the equal measure of light. Windu's words did not fall on deaf ears, Anakin did fully choose/enbrace the Dark Side when given the crucial choice.

I feel like he was still the chosen one as he went dark. The prophesy never said whether he was light or dark, only that he would bring balance. The jedi were many and had grown complacent and corrupt. They become more of a government, rather than an order of warrior monks, which they werent really supposed to be. The the force wasn't balanced at all. The sith were all but non existant compared to the jedi. So by Anakin turning, order 66 being issued, and then even hunting down of jedi as vader afterwards balance was technically brought about as the overflow of jedi was removed and things were kind of reset. Only a few jedi and a few sith.

@@xxMpEGxx That's the way I see it atleast. You can't have light without shadow and vice versa. For light to truly shine you must have darkness, otherwise how would one distinguish between the two? That's why I feel the Jedi became so corrupt. They "eradicated" the dark, and could no longer recognize it when it began to seep into their own beliefs and society. Their needs to be a balance between the two. Darkness will always exist and one has to make peace with that, as well as study and understand it. Only then can one accept it and face it without faltering, when they need to. The Jedi couldn't do this because they couldn't even recognize the dark anymore. They became clouded and we're inevitably swallowed by the darkness rather than weathering through the storm.
You can see the same thing after order 66 when the empire is so strong that they can no longer recognize the power of the light. They don't understand it and don't recognize it, then it (Luke and a redeemed Vader) defeats them. It is a constant struggle because neither side seeks to understand the others re in the universe. They are polarized. It alot like our modern society in many ways.

Had Windu trained Anakin he never would've fallen to the dark side.
Hard to say on that one really since he most likely would've taught Anakin his form in form 7 Vapad as to Obi Wans form 3 which Anakin found more comfort in the form 3 spinoff if you will call it that form 5. Form 7 would've done Anakin good no doubt, using your emotions in combat and also feeding off your opponents emotions as well, however with that being said Anakin never was one to keep his feelings and emotions in check and was usually making decisions out of passion as we see at the end of ROTS Anakin simply could've jumped to lower ground and run up but pride and anger took over and clouded his judgement which cause him to attempt to leap over Obi Wan. Windu could've helped Anakin with his feelings sure, but with form 7 pretty much using your feelings and emotions in combat it could lead Anakin to do something even stupider then what he did on Mustafar, or turn even faster. Of course tho, that's just my opinion.
@@darthrevan5609 but that's why I think he would have not fallen to the dark side. Form 7 along with mace's guidance would have taught Anakin to control his feelings without giving in to them. He would have probably not been corrupted by the force visions of Padme's death and Palpatine's manipulations as he would have the training to keep his feelings in check and mace to help him get through them. Anakin never truly trusted Obi wan going back to episode 1 when he called Anakin "another backwater lifeform" that resentment was always in the back of his mind. But this is just my opinion.

I think the jedi has a hard time realizing that you need warriors just as much as you need diplomacy.

Oddly Palpatine was better at adhering to the path of patience, logic and opting not to engage in battle than most Jedi. He used many of the Jedi's strengths and their own self inflicted corruption to defeat the order.
Palpatine was simply hiding in plain sight until he believed it was time to reveal himself as we see with Anakin, he had no problem with being open with him since he knew he could take Anakins feelings and manipulate them for his favor, "you could save your wife from a certain death." I suspect much like what we see from Luke in episode 8 he kinda cut himself off from the force in general dark and light side all together to hide, once the time came for him to reveal himself he found an apprentice and all it took was just sheer patience and hiding.

I've always loved mace windu. He has always been my favorite jedi. The one that always walked the borderline of the sith and destroyed without becoming a sith himself.
I think Mace had stronger reservations than most about Anakin, but I also think that is a testament to how much blind faith he put into the chosen one despite Mace’s instincts. I like to believe that Windu would have felt a certain level of investment into skywalker that almost no one else did. He knew what it meant to walk the line between light and dark more than almost anyone, and more than any Jedi he knew what strength it took to fight against the dark side when you are so vulnerable to it. I think Windu was just intense and wanted to protect Anakin, and he simply wanted to share his 30+ years experience the only way he knew when he could also sense Anakin drawing to the dark side.

I always thought Mace had to have extremely strong self-control and discipline if he channeled the dark side without losing himself to it (though arguably he gave into it when facing Palpatine and was going to kill a seemingly defenseless man (though he had a point in that Palpatine was too dangerous to allow to live) and it resulted in Anakin striking him down. You have to wonder what would have happened if Mace didn't lose himself to his anger...

I only seen Mace Windu smile once and that was in the Star Wars Clone Wars (2003) animated series.
It was when after he singlehandedly taken out that massive weapon and personally delivered the hands of the force to a droid army (Wing Chin style), a little boy offered Mace some water.

Makes me wonder if that is the reason windu never suggested that he take anakin as an apprentice instead of obi one. Having mastered his draw to the darkness you'd think he'd be in the better position to guide anakin in that regard. Perhaps he believed two jedis who were so close to the dark side might further tempt each other down that path.
I mean there were other Jedi who tried the Grey Jedi path but they all eventually fell to the dark side. Mace Windu is the exception, so you cant say for sure that it works for everyone.

My favorite Jedi of all time by far. An utter powerhouse that took zero prisoners. A true dark knight if the Jedi ever had one. Intense but caring. Hard but fair. An imperfect master, yes. But a warrior of light? Absolutely.
I think mace was the start of the Gray Jedi. Mace didn’t die when he fell out the window. He felt there had always been a better more direct way to fight the Sith.
Mace set out to train himself touching the dark but staying within the light. Like Luke, mace went into exile. Not to hide and waist away like Luke did, but to train Intensely and Hone his skills of the DARK SIDE. With the teachings of the light and now the dark side of the force complete. And after 30 years and many inner battles to keep from crossing to the dark side of the force, mace emerges from his self imposed exile not looking 10 years older than when he went in. This was due to the utilization of the dark and the light side of the force at the same time. You see, using both light and dark at the same time slowed the aging process. An un-natural yet natural side effect. One of many mace learned while in his self imposed exile.
The Sith and the Jedi across the universe felt an ominous weight upon them when mace emerged from his exile.
The question was........ was he after the Sith, Jedi, or both. Many unanswered questions and things vailed over the eyes of both.
One thing was for certain! Mace was a force not to be taken lightly, when finally confronted.

What is weird is there’s no way mace would die. Older Anakin Jumped out of a speeder and landed on another like 30 to 50 stories down and was barely hurt. Even if mace was hurt he still has way more training than Anakin Did. That is why mace is still alive but they never say anything about it.
@@ryanr4664 You have to remember that he is in a Vaapad state of mind, meaning he is already very close to the darkside. The sheer power of Sidious's lightening at that point, because he realised his plan had finally come into full fruition, would be in insane! I think he was totally destroyed in the fall, because he was unconcious. Look at how Dooku's lightening affected young Anakin. Now imagine that lightening times 100. KO

Imo worrying is the wrong word. He is the shepherd of his flock and spent his life watching after them, constantly observing and speculating upon their future. When he saw something that could lead one of his jedi away from the light, he would reiterate the teachings of the order to that jedi. This is not the reaction of a worried teacher.

Yoda and the jedi were wise to fear Mace windu and his shatterpoint force power! He would've been a very powerful dark sider, but Mace stayed in the light.

I always thought that if Mace has taken a more hands on approach to helping with the training of Anakin, I really don't think he would have turned and they might have sensed Palpatine's true intentions ahead of time

The irony is, if Windu had opened up to Anakin, showing him that they were much alike, Anakin would likely not have turned on him and the Jedi Order... So many chances for things to have gone down differently...

sure, if you're working with finger paint, but these are "light" sabers, the visible spectrum of corresponding with the "good" and "bad" side of the force would make his lightsaber yellow or orange, not purple
Windu’s state of mind is one that not many of us can. A light in the darkness. One that can understand good and walk down evil while still having a mind that is clear in its path. Knowing the dark better than most but walking the light knowing it is the right path. A skill not many experience but a skill that can make you see the power of both sides. Something so special that other comment on but not many experience. That is common sense that is built on right and not wrong. Grey without being grey. Pure being the correct word

I believe that Windu failed Anakin with this new information. Knowing what he was going through Windu could have befriended and guided Anakin rather than treat him like crap and constantly question him in a stern manner.
Stop what, having an opinion different than yours? He did fail him. He knew what he was going through and did nothing to guide him. Masters spoke of a growing arrogance growing in the order and never did they do anything to curb it. Th masters needed to be more proactive and not sit back and complain in the background. As far as Anakin being 9/10 stuck in his ways shows you know very little about children. A child can be taught change easier than an adult to see things different. The right guidance from someone with similar personality or background makes that change even easier.
I believe Windu feared that Anakin might set him off his path as well. Could you imagine how fucked the galaxy would have been if it was Darth Windu and Darth Anakin instead of Darth Sideous and Darth Vader?
