Despite a strong hitting job on Tuesday, the Orioles have lost five in a row. Brandon Hyde reflects on the 10-8 loss to the Guardians. More: www.masn.me/
These guys are professional baseball players, and should be able to handle the manager saying "We need to do a better job of pitching, fielding and understanding the hitting situations" whether he says it at the mic or in the clubhouse. The pitchers need to know what the hitters they face can do with certain pitches.
If Elias doesn't make some moves to get more pitching ASAP after tonight's debacle, he's not doing his job. The only saving grace during this 5-game losing streak is Yanks have been losing as well. Cole Irvin sucks and so does Albert Suarez, neither of those guys belong on the staff of a team trying to win the WS this season. I don't know what the F Irvin was trying to prove against Ramirez in the 4th inning. He had already CRUSHED two balls in his first two ABs when he came up in the 4th, there were two on with two outs and 1B was open. If there ever was a time to walk the guy, that was it. Instead he challenges him with a 92-mph FB and he crushes it 410 feet over the center field wall for a 3-run shot to make it 8-4. The little guy is probably the most underrated player in MLB. He's a RBI machine year after year. O's hit 4 homers in this game but they still end up losing 10-8 🤦♂.
You have to have someone to trade with. There are only about 4 teams who are definitely out of it. No one is trading for 3 to 4 more weeks until they know where they stand with the playoffs.
Nah, that's just an excuse. You can get anyone from Marlins, White Sox or A's if the price is right. I'm sure there are other teams smart enough to realize that they're not contending for anything this season no matter how close they're to the 3rd WC positions. Their goal should be to win the WS this season, NOT win the AAA championship every season. It's like the Hershey Bears winning the Calder Cup every year. Who the F cares?? I care about winning the Stanley Cup and the WS!!
@CamKrazy2000 if the price is right.....therein lies the catch. If you are one of those teams and someone comes calling a month before the trade deadline you are going to ask for the moon. When the deadline is closer, they are going to have to get more realistic on their asking price because time is not on their side.
No team has any pitching just look around every team has issues what ever happened to pitching when I was growing up you had four starters they mostly completed 9 innings mostly 200 to 300 innings a season now seems like less innings and more arm problems doesn't add up but hey what do I know I can give you one reason 😂
We knew the pitching was shaky goin in didn't we? Let's not act like this situation hit us in the face like a cold bucket of water. The last thing they need to do is trade seed corn for a rental. They'll find a couple pitchers that make sense before the deadline so let's not panic
As far as pitching goes, Hyde hardly has anything to work with. Picture this, your 2 and 3 starters go down for Tommy John, and then you turn around and your only consistently great BP guy is out until September. Then after all of that, your ,up until now miraculously good starters, Suárez and Irvin start tanking massively and you’ve got no one in house to replace them with. So now that’s double trouble because now you’ve got to surrender some of your extremely talented prospects to get starting AND relief pitching.
I'm at a loss also, after last season I thought to myself we need to just get in to the playoffs, winning the division these days just doesn't matter anymore. We need to ride Burnes and Rodriquez all the way and trade for someone, I would consider trading Holiday at this point.. Flaherty may be available again, lol... I would never bring that guy back.
Stop complaining guardians SP rotation is bibee , McKenzie ( has arm injury ) , Allen , Ben lively ( who nobody wanted ) , and Carlos carrasco ( who nobody wanted ) . Guards cy young winner made 2 starts . Pitching is a problem everywhere not just in Baltimore. Win games
If the person(Hyde) managing the team knows that the pitcher doesn't have command of his pitches, why was he left in there to pitch? An early exit may have given the Orioles a win. They don't all need to get to 5 innings when they're throwing everything down the middle. Especially if he didn't adjust after they hit rockets off of him the first time!!!
need another starter and an elite bullpen arm. Outside of Burnes and Grayson, we just have guys
Why did you leave Irvin in the game so long? Please leave the lineup alone, especially with our best hitters.
He doesn't know how to. Everything he does is analytical

Suarez was good tonight, a 2.30 era before tonight, does he really suck, lol
It's seems obvious now that Irvins 21 inning scoreless streak was a complete fluke.

Pitching is terrible, you pulled one of your so called Ace’s out and he gave up 3 runs. Terrible

excellent assessment. I don't know where we go from here.

But the difference between them and us is that they have an elite bullpen to fall back on and we don’t
I really don't think we'll be surrendering anything particularly prospects
Lost to a team without their Ace pitcher and slugger😭😭😭😭
Hyde just does not have enough fire in him. He needs to get on his guys and say you need to play BETTER.
I imagine he’s a different guy in the clubhouse. A good manager doesn’t blast their players in front of the microphone.
Bench cowser bring Stowers

That was a game we should have won. We get even a mediocre start and we win. Irvin looked like hot garbage tonight.
