I have both the 3M respirator and the Airshield pro. The airshield is a respirator AND a face mask. If you can swing the $$ - go for the pro. Much easier (for me) to work with, but it will tire out your neck. I use mine mainly for lathe work.

Great content. My company has been at work on a PAPR with an all in one design monocoque manifold. Our aim is a PAPR that's more accessible to the DIY crowd. When we have certification, would you be willing to give it a try to compare? Its called MicroClimate Air3.
don't know where you got yours but busy bee tools has the airshield for 475 CDN. Make sure yours has the black headband though the grey onre breaks easily. They did replace my grey one with the new black one at no charge though. I use mine all the time now when sanding on the lathe

The Mike Peace woodturning channel says that the charger is not "smart" and will overcharge the battery and burn it up. There is no green light and the charger does not shut down or trickle charge when the battery is fully charged. What say you to this?
+Mike Porter Honestly, I never checked. I have trained myself to not overcharge batteries because of all the camera equipment we use.
600 bucks, holy shit. The most expensive 3M respirators are not even half that price.

$600? Tough to justify for hobbyist duty - so many other goodies out there? Think I'd invest the $600 in a higher end, shop dust collection system, e.g., more hp, canister filter, more point of use drops, etc. ...
