Andrew Pappas my guess is not that they cant, but that they chose to make music they believe will sell more and from 2012 onwards they have been much bigger than before, so I cant blame them even though I much prefer their old music style.

They just evolved with the times. This is what pop music sounded like in early 2000s. Jimmy eat world, Jet, Coldplay, etc. You can see a similarity with bands that changed their sound AND are still relevant today in M5 and Coldplay. A song like “Yellow” would never be a breakout smash hit today.

I think it also says that we should try to live without regrets and do what makes us happy, because it's only happiness that really matters.
