- For our 500th video we review the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. This beast features a 797-hp supercharged V8, widebody good looks and advanced safety that would make a Prius blush. How ridiculous is this rear-wheel drive monster? How does it compare to the limited-edition Demon? Can it fit a family of four?

Dodge stated that they wanted the Demon to be daily driven not just track bound that is why the Redeye was created...genius!

I have to admit.. after hitting a dear with my Honda awhile back.. I had the option to rent a 2017 challenger r/t for my therapeutic come back. Needless to say, it was fun, loud and being that I never drove a challenger before- a real eye open. It performed extremely well at high way speeds. It was sure footed and build well. You felt like you were driving something profound, made me realize how the older generations must of felt when the originals were introduced. It was a great opportunity that was granted to me when faced with a delema such as smacking a deer 🦌 and using this to see the silver lining in the cloud that I was underneath at that time. Good video.. the aerial shot of the smokey burnout was impressive, along with the line lock option.👍🏻
You must have** had a real turd sack of a Honda to get into a Dodge after and feel that it was built** well.
If i had this car, id never listen to the radio. Even though I love music, id rather listen to the engine, exhaust, and ofcourse the supercharger wine!

Your Mom get over yourself. There are literally 8 other colors you can get it in.. and no other car company offers more “colors that pop” than SRT.. plum crazy purple, Go mango orange, Green Go, Redline Red, Indigo Blue, F8 Green, etc, etc..

Engine is actually a de-tuned Demon engine, not a Hellcat engine
You almost got it, it actually isn't de-tuned... Just has a different hood and less airflow through the intake.
Yeah not detuned, smaller supercharger.
@@asesinovida5708 it's not a smaller super charger it's the same super charger that was in the demon running the same 14.5 boost pressure.

it most definitely is as i just ordered one today. this is on the demon specs read it: www.motortrend.com/cars/dodge/challenger/2018/2018-dodge-challenger-srt-demon-first-look-review/ and this is the red eye's specs: moparinsiders.com/2019-dodge-challenger-srt-hellcat-redeye-options-and-pricing/ the differences in the engines are the pcm tuning limits the super chargers are both the same 2.7L and use the same boost pressure of 14.5 compared to the smaller regular Hellcat 2.4L super charger with only 11.6 boost pressure. it also allows the red eye to red line at 6500RPM's compared to the Hellcat's 6200RPM's.

The car seats up to 5, not just 4; and the back is fine for 2 adults if you move the front seats up a little. Also: on my '16 Hellcat, the "Sport" setting has the least traction control, rather than the "Track" setting.
Too many misinformations! 😠 track mode gives you more traction, Rear seats are roomy, engine is a detuned Demon's motor!
Rear seats are not roomy. My 12 and 9 year olds could barely fit. -RD

Unless your 6’10”. You should be able to adjust your seat UP giving your rear seat passengers plenty of room and still maintain good room for yourself. The challenger front seats go way back. Much further than the charger.
Really? My teenagers fit perfectly fine. Not as much room as my Tahoe , lol. I used to have a 911 S ....now those back seats were not roomy.
Driving Sports TV - your statement is not credible. I'm 6' 2" and I fit pretty well in the back seat. My 6`1" 260 pound friend fits reasonably well in the back seat. I've watched umpteen videos from people reviewing these cars and they all fit in the back seat. It's interesting that you make this claim but the video doesn't show anyone trying to fit in the back seat.

I ran a 9.93 quarter mile at 138.93 with a skinny body Red eye and a 2.3 second 0 to 60 mph .Mods were drag radials ,pulley ,tune and meth kit.The Video of the run is on you tube .It is a beast of a car.

I have 2017 challenger. I would love to have the red eye. But my money not set up like that
I would love to own one of these beast oneday, this and the Ford Mustang G.T. only two muscle cars I would ever need in a lifetime. Oh and a Porsche 911 Turbo S. That's it for fast cars. For me that is! But I know the insurance on these cars are not cheap. Last but not least for Dodge they should produce a HellCat RedEye Charger that would be epic as well, those would sell like crazy.

If I can't get a Challenger Demon, then I'll settle for Redeye. 797hp is still pretty close to 808hp, right? (No, I'm not talking about the 840 crate package for the Demon. I'm fine with 808, thank you very much.)
Seats 5. Barbies Beach cruising crowd killer and the my dad used to have 1 mobile seat 4. The Chally can seat 5 .
This is low key the best Hellcat Review to date.
Its the Demon engine.Not based on the hellcat engine.It is the full Demon engine chiller big blower and all.

I like the red eye because it has an automatic which is standard for the red eye hellcat! And I like the line lock because it allows the wheels to spin without burning out the brakes!

I’m pretty sure Dodge released a statement saying that the RedEye will start at $69k. I don’t know where you got $59k starting and $90k fully equipped. No way this thing has $30,000 in options.
That info was directly from the sticker provided by dodge.
Driving Sports TV Seems like a pretty un reasonable price for a car that underperforms in comparison to the Demon. Love the styling and performance but 90 Horses isn’t worth a $30,000 price difference. If this was information that was obtained at the press conference in Maine then I’d imagine the price is subject to change. I think that most people would rather put that money into a stock Hellcat which would Smoke the RedEye with that much invested into it. If this thing actually costs $90k I can confidently say that I will not buy one. Great review, it does provide a lot of insight on the car itself.

Dale Weinert I am well aware that the normal Hellcat starts at $59k after the price drop. In this video, they say that the RedEye starts at $59k and goes all the way to $90k when fully loaded.

DEMONS...NOT a 1 HIT Wonder.... Multiple Reviews said it was a much better ride/ street friendly car more than the hellcat due to the softer suspension.

Absolutely. It’s a great cruiser as a daily.

They shortened the stroke in the crankshaft for better rpm.
Because it burns more fuel
Shortening the crank or camshaft actually makes it stronger thats why they did it, seen it on another video..
Pretty sure it ~started with the 6.4 which Mopar modified and engineered into the hellcat. When all was done the final result was 6.2l. Of cours there's way more to it lol
Why didn't they install the Transbrake in this beast??? It would have seriously helped with launches and bring the 60ft and quarter time down...
Not without the drag radials. These all season tires have no traction when it comes to the SC Hemi power. It needs Michelin sport cup tires or goodyear supercar R3 tires more.

Really needs the (goodyear supercar R3 tires) off the Zl-1 1LE or Michelin sport cup 2 tires. SRT is failing by not offering a sticky tire option....the same way Nismo Fk'd up not offering the sticky dunlop tire and carbon/ceramic brakes for the GT-R.
@@JerseyMikeP it's all for cost effective reasons. It's the cliche premium brand name part that fools the customer that the said product is good. Doesnt mean it's never true. But dodge undertires their cars. The only model that they dont undertire is the sxt and GT model

Problem is Dodge tries to put an all season tire...since Dodge is the "budget" brand. The tires aren't small like more expensive brands. Also the all season tires aren't really cheaper than a lot of sports car summer tires. It's just really dumb when brands don't offer a high performance option...on powerful models.
FYI, Ford usually puts the smallest tire size in their cars of the muscle car brands....probably why they are probe to running into crowds of people.

@@reyperez3424 demon engine has more webbing in the block and heads, different crank,rods, pistons, cam, valves, supercharger etc. It's a different engine than HC.

I am with you, though I think I would do it once to try it. The only other use to burn up $600 on rear tires would be at the burn out staging on a drag strip. I would still burn up those tires quickly as I could not keep from breaking it loose in second or third gear just because I can.
