The conversation about death was such a powerful monologue too that respected both atheist and religious views. The whole script and the actors delivery of it is superb
He probably isnt actually that dumb, just doesnt speak English, so to him, its like being in a room with a bunch of foreign speakers and they’re all treating u like a god so u just roll eith it
The fact that he decides to convince himself it was an angel and that all the things it's blood did to the community as miracles is a play on how everyone interprets religious beliefs and texts in their own way. He's able to pick out all the verses in the bible that confirm his beliefs and ignores the others, just like people do in the real world.
In real life, Catholic Priests transform the communion wine into the blood of Christ. Only people who are in a state of Grace may take Catholic communion, unlike the Protestant Church wherein the communion wine is only symbolically the of blood of Christ. (All people are welcome to take communion in the Protestant Church). As long as the blood did good things to the people in the community, the Priest could believe in the divine nature of the blood. I don't know if the Priest initially misinterprets the scripture.
@@richp7457 lol. I might tend to agree. Though there are beloved characters in the show that are truly Christian. Particularly Kate Siegal's character. The writer Mike Flanagan obviously loves this character equally as much as he loves the atheist character Riley. They are the heart of the show and spiritually connected despite not sharing religious beliefs. It's really beautiful actually.
In case you hadn't watched The Mist (the movie from 2007), I suggest you do. It doesn't go as deep as this show on religion, faith and fanaticism but these themes are definitely there.
In classic lore, vampires have a lot of weakness to religion/religious artifacts, and they also must be "invited in". So how fucking awesomely ironic is it that a priest stumbles across a den, interprets the vampire to be an angel, and eventually invites it into his church? Also, I loved the subtle touch that when Pruit was dying, the vampire heard him muttering nonsense about angels, and then you witness the vampire see the opportunity and decide to turn him instead. So good.
Yeah because the creature is definitely a vampire. We all know without a doubt how a vampire behaves and what they do. I also like the part where everyone resurrected after drinking the poison, because you know, that’s how the lore of vampirism works.
@@gmchessplay9043 vampire’s are dead people who have risen in some legends so it absolutely does fit with the lore. That’s why they needed to be tainted with the vampire blood. If this was an angel, they could be resurrected on their faith alonez
According to the bible, Jesus says “he who drinks my blood receives eternal life”.😆😆 Christians have been worshiping a vampire this whole time or maybe a vampire wannabe.😆😆😆 Either way drinking anyones blood or even pretending wine is someone’s blood is just weird and delusional.😆😆
MIDNIGHT MASS is the best horror limited series since Flanagan’s own HILL HOUSE. What on the surface is a monster tale, is actually a story about the every day monsters in our community and how they weaponize faith.
I have no words to describe how much of a masterpiece this was. The dialogue, screen writing, content were on point. It took roman theology and reinterprated it with horror theatrics.
Yeah agreed. It's a story about the misconception of a vampire as an angel. The townsfolk, in this world where vampires exist, simply mistakenly put it in a religious context. The vampire was manipulating everyone and went along with it just to suck some blood haha.
Idk I don't even feel like midnight mass is that negative towards religion. It definitely critiques religion, but almost just as much shines a positive light on it lol
@@DeanithForeverYoung okay so a few things off the top of the head, first obviously through their religion many characters found peace in the end. Whether it's everyone at the end , or Erin thinking about losing her child. And it portrayed it as a beautiful thing. 2nd is Pruitt at the end of the show blaming himself "I am not a leader " rather than blaming God or the religion. 3rd when Riley explained him dying he explained all of the things that would happen to him, and while he did die and burn away, what happened to him was not just rotting
@@Chris-rg6nm The show has plot holes. Doesn't mean its not a vampire. Not one single person even bothered to say the word vampire. That alone makes this show a plot hole lmao. Realistically at least half of the population there would have yelled vampires. Or at least zombies.
There's a book on writing TV shows called "Save a cat", where you let main character saves a cat or something nice in the beginning to get audience fall in love with them. The writers did the opposite and did a "kill a dog" for the main villain of the show, it was genius.
the actor who played Bev is also very effective. I despised her character. As a Muslim, it hits me when he described the blood of the Sheriff as "dirty blood".
@Cesare Borgia What? The show clearly criticizes Bev and punishes her. Riley's family, Millie, Leeza, Erin Greene were all examples of good Christians.
@Cesare Borgia I'm also a Christian and you severely missed the point the show was trying to make... they were not portraying Christians as wrong and evil at all.
Damn. I’m no muslim, but I started to cry pretty loud, but the worst part was when she shouted “terrorist” at him when HE WAS ALREADY ON HIS KNEES, like omg. That was humiliation and I wanted to throw my laptop out into the trash.
To me the show is about faith vs. Fanaticism. The fanatics blindly follow something evil and dangerous at all cost and no matter how bad things get they will find a way to tie it back to their belief even though its absolutley not at all connected
theres no line between faith and fanatiscm is what i got from it even just believing a little can bring you all the way there. I see it in many modern day religious people and its the main reason i laugh at them just like the townspeople they turn to religion to explain everything and will never doubt or question the obvious
@@chrisj2818 theres a difference. People now days are just preached not regular religious shit they're taught extremist ideas. Christofascist ideology is very popular in evangelical churches these days.
I didn’t really think there was anything Inherently evil about the vampirism portrayed in this show. Considering any vampire can make another vampire, not just the master, and they can clearly survive off animal blood and it is also possible to resist their cravings, it could have been used as a force to elevate humanity. It was how the individuals who were granted the power choose to use it.
Youre wrong if you believe that. Because faith at the end restored the towns people's beliefs. And the series was filled with church hyms. I would say the director is both a fan of religion and horror. And to mix it up with vampires. Some people don't see the full picture here.
A whole monster at the front of the church and there’s silence. But the entire church starts screaming when the Fine Muslim pulls a gun… #midnightmassnetflix #MidnightMass
Important to understand that angels often appeared terrifying to people in the religious record. There were good angels and bad angels, some beautiful, some not, some fiery, some seemingly made of light or altogether invisible. Some benevolent in appearance, some that we would now label as evil looking, some were very strange with multiple faces, ox, eagle, lion. Some angels had six wings (seraphim), some four, some two and some none at all. Angels were said to be extremely varied and numerous beyond count. We have decades of movie/tv depictions that are nothing more than lazy and inaccurate tropes. Midnight Mass understands this and rather cleverly toys with our indoctrination/preconceptions of what ‘angels’ actually are and what they look like.
@@bignastytiger4174 I think the point is that since it was trapped in an ancient tomb, a good portion of the biblical mythos could be based on this creature who heals those who drink of it's blood and grants everlasting life. As if it were what angels were based on. Yes, it's a vampire, but a vampire could also be the origin of those myths.
@@applegeepedigree I took it as it is somehow a being from biblical times. Placing it in a ruin near Jerusalem and the road to Damascus was intentional for sure. Fallen angel? Demon looking for a way to corrupt the faithful and mock the trinity? Something like this
At the start it felt like a Stephen King series....its not, and one of my fave series, the topic and themes are thought provoking, the portrayal of Muslim faith was very well done....the acting got better and better. 10/10 easy
I feel like they never referred to it as a monster or vampire to keep the focus of the character's decisions based on their ideology. It was as if vampire lore never existed in their world, which made each of their decisions more impactful since it was all on them and couldn't be blamed on a demonic creature.
@@gmchessplay9043 Lol....it wasn't an angel...it was a vampire! Mike Flannigan had talked about it in several interviews. He called it an angel due to certain elements of the bible that he was reciting in the scene...which is what makes it clever. If vampires don't exist in their world then the choices that are being made are based on human emotions and ideology and not a demonic creature. It's easier to dismiss a lot of the choices made and blame them on the creature.
@@applegeepedigree Sure....I mean, in their world it doesn't feel like vampires are a thing...so to them...yeah...it's an angel because of how Father Pruit viewed it and compared it to the passages in the Bible....but the audience knows that it's a vampire...plus Flannigan confirmed it lol.
Paul: "Yo bro can you help me out? can you put on a cloak and show up during easter?" The monster: "Bro what??" Paul: "I'll give you free food" The monster: "Stop right there, I'm in"
I've literally shouted at the muslim sheriff to call the "angel" out as a Jinn! It's really unrealistic that a muslim like the character we've seen wouldn't had recognized this.
My favourite character in this show was him, Sheriff Hasan. But as you say, i hated how nobody recognized that creature as a Jinn, Satan, Wendigo, Vampire or just a normal wild creature in this world. A religious person knows how the bibble or kuran describe an angel (beautiful and shiny) and that creature wasnt enything like that.
The way people act nowadays I’m really not surprised instead of realizing that’s a damn demon or a vampire they call it an Angel? What kind of bloody Angel looks like that lol. The whole thing is just kind of hilarious and shows how people will easily manipulate or change a situation to suit a narrative.
I think the whole recognition thing was explained away pretty well. "Be not afraid." And yes, while current day depictions of angels seem beautiful and glowing, they could be sensationalized to be more "appealing", and whose to say they actually weren't like a vampire creature? Like take Jesus for example. We know for a fact he wasn't light brown haired, blue eyed, light skinned but actually short, dark skinned, black hair, brown eyed by the census, geography, and demographic of the times. You wouldn't be praying and kissing pictures of Jesus if it was a dark short jew depicted, likewise you wouldn't be bowing and kissing angels if they were depicted as a ghoul or vampire. Anyway, it's an interesting take on the Abrahamic religions as a whole. That they can be misleading, perverted, and abused due to their vagueness and poor authorship leading to multiple interpretations, denominations, and faiths.
The writing (especially monologues) are some of the best that I have ever watched/heard in any TV series. It's simply impeccable. About the "Angel," I don't think this is your typical bat-like vampire from european perspectives, especially since the angle originated in the unknown desert ruin of ME. I think the real identity of Angel is a ghoul. Ghoul itself can be a desert-dwelling, shapeshifting demon that can assume the guise of an animal, especially a hyena. It lures unwary people into the desert wastes or abandoned places to slay and devour them. The creature also preys on young children, drinks blood, steals coins, and eats the dead. This is even corroborated with a bit of connection between Islam & Christianity, as in Islam ghoul is a creature derived from The Devil/Iblis's race, djinn. When Jesus was born, three heavenly spheres were forbidden to them. With the arrival of Muhammad, the other four were forbidden. The Marid among the shayatin continued to rise to the heavens, but were burned by the comets. If the comets didn't burn them to death, they were deformed and driven to insanity. They then fell to the deserts and were doomed to roam the earth as "ghouls." About the ending, I think it could a number of ways: + The Angel or should I say the "Ghoul" can still live even under the sunlight but, it will lose its powers, hence why Leeza also lose her recovered legs. + The Angel truly died & all of its gifts/miracles ceased to exist. Meaning both Leeza & Warren who previously has a bit of angel's blood in them are now somehow dissipated. Like a hivemind connection when you kill the source, everything crumbles/dead. + The ange live & managed to arrived into the mainland but its influences/miracles is a much more of a AoE effects. So Leeza losing her recovered legs again could mean he was already gone far away enough that the influence to Leeza basically gone In any case, this is a perfect one season show imo. I don't think we need a second season. BUT!! I do think this could turn into a some kind of anthology series where MIke Flanagan can explore the dark mythical creatures & religious mythologies in a profound philosophical manners to the human psyche.

I believe it is not a ghoul because ghouls don't turn people into other ghouls - instead, they eat people and can assume their identities - and also, the "angel" and the ones he turned didn't eat anyone, but rather drank their blood, which is classic vampirism transmission.
The monologues and scriptural application were so intimate. There was more theological “meat” than I expected and certainly more than we typically see in film and tv. Pruitt’s conversations and demeanor were honest, and his acting demonstrated honesty. Many lines felt improvised. He added stutters as thought he was actually pouring out his heart. I was immensely creeped out by that - because I liked him, even though everything he did was selfish. I liked the fucking guy. What a monster.
Yes. I was actually disappointed at first when the show became a vampire/horror thing, as I was totally satisfied with the way it was going until then - discussions of faith, death, creation, family relationships, guilt, etc.
Yeah I was hoping it was going to be some sweet tale of hope how the priests love & faith healed the island. I don't even like soppy stuff or happy endings but these guys felt genuinely realn& deserved it, apart from the dog killing Bev Keane. She should burn in hell, but the rest were nice folk.

I don't think the two options are mutually exclusive. The way I interpreted it, vampire folklore and Christian mythology might have been two descriptions of the same phenomenon. So the monster was a vampire--and it was also an angel. Pruit did find it in the Holy Land, didn't he? On the road to Damascus? So it could very well have been the same sort of being Saul/Paul encountered. Its appearance conflicts with our expectation, but our image of what an angel should look like doesn't really come from the bible but from paintings, from depictions created by artists who never actually saw an angel. And you've got to admit, Pruit and Bev didn't have much trouble finding verse after verse of scripture that supported the idea of angels terrifying anyone who saw them, and of the drinking of blood leading to eternal life, and of resurrection, and of God overseeing bloodbaths, etc. So you can say that they "mistook" this monster for an angel, but who's to say that believers during biblical times didn't make the same "mistake"? And if that's the case, and our current conception of angels and communion comes from stories of those times, then is it really wrong to call that thing an angel?
Lux Ferre, Absolutely. Beverly Main was the proverbial "Monster hypocrite in the room." However, so was Monsignor Pruitt. He knowingly shipped that demon/vampire from Jerusalem to Crockett. Then, he just released it on the townspeople. His sin/crime was man's oldest sin pride. He wanted his lover of the past and his love child. But he was too much a coward to claim her and leave the priest hood. He thought the ends justified the means. Then he deliberately conned the religiously ignorant and made them lambs to a slaughter. Demented.
I laughed when the kids set the angel on fire and it flew out of the house screeching, also when the angel realized its wings has holes on them. I dunno why I find those scenes hilarious 😂 But not making fun of it, it was a great mini series 👍🏼

Yes. I'm very surprised not one person screamed out "it's a demon!" or "it's from the Devil!" or something. The possibility wasn't even mentioned. Like..dah!
I feel like most people totally miss the point that the vampire still could also be an angel. Pruitt at the end wasn't like "I now see that there is no way you are a work of God! This stuff going down could never have been in his plan". No, instead he was more like "in god's plan or no, damned to hell or no, angel or vampire, I am not doing this anymore. Fuck all this - I'm mourning." It is funny that so many people watch the people doing what the vampire wants and think "CLEARLY this vampire dude isn't an angel because he's doing spooky mean stuff!" When like... I feel like the show does a pretty good job of posing the more complex question of "what if God wants you to do something bad? Does a divine power wanting it make it a moral choice? Or should you try to be a good person, regardless of the afterlife or the plans of some divine being?"
@@gmchessplay9043 I mean I feel like to some extent I get why people aren't thinking down this route - it is probably a moral grey that some aren't use to thinking about, but also (and I love Flanagan but this tends to happen in many of his works), he tends to beat the viewer over the head with what broader theme/vibe he is going for, but then won't be as aggressive when posing the interesting overall philosophical questions connected to those themes. IDK if that makes sense, but like, I feel like the episodes where Riley is turned and then the finale were really good at posing the questions I mentioned before, but the way the vampire is framed in many of the other episodes really makes the viewer think "vampire" and not "angel". Perhaps if Flanagan had more moments were the vampire is framed/presented/argued to be an angel, more viewers would have been guided into the questions of ambiguity that I posed before. Then again, I ain't a writer, so who knows! What do you think?
WE ALL GET ITS A VAMPIRE, BUT WHAT IS THIS ORIGINAL VAMPIRE? The fallen angel, or the devil, is a great orgin. Trapped and buried in a tomb just like the catholic church says with the, I believe almost 300, fallen angels buried in the earth. Would make sense because these angels would keep their wings, but lose all "feathers" and all that makes them beautiful.
I don't understand how Ali was able to drink the poison and be resurrected. The others had all been taking communion so they had the vampires blood in their system. Ali although he was attending mass was not taking communion and was not fed the blood of the vampire or one of the resurrected so I don't understand how he was like the others even to the point of being consumed in flames by sunlight.
It is a vampire, confused for an angel by a religious man in his dying moments. What is wrong with people calling it demon or Satan? It is 100% intended to be a vampire. Also nice job spoiling the main plot twists of a show a few days old within title and thumbnail.
Its weird that real people watching the show make the same mistake as the religious people in the show but instead of thinking it is an angle they believe its a demon.

Turning into a vampire seems to happen after death. (Like zombie virus from Walking dead series.) Monsignol says it, 'resurrection'. He did not die in the desert, but because he drank the vampire's blood, he was able to recover his youth and mental health. And because he mixed vampire's blood in wine, use it during communion, other characters also could heal from any kind of illness they had such as poor vision, back problems, leg paralysis ect. But they too didn't die(or killed) before the Easter night so could walk under the sunlight. Riley was murdered by Monsignol at a recreation center to be used as an apostle to spread the gospel after being sucked blood by vampire(According to monsignor, he was chosen.). And resurrected, which means turned into vampire. Maybe Monsignor or Vampire give his blood to him. So he burned in the sun.
Because he was still in a "living" state, despite carried the angel's blood/virus within his body. When he died from chronic blood starvation, that's when he truly dead, became the undead, which is weak to sunlight. That's what happened also to the islanders that received communion in the church, which is why the priest did a suicide ritual to change them into undead.
The best part is that John admitted himself in the end that he never actually saw it as anything more than a monster. He just needed to convince himself it was an angel before convincing others.

Well, the whole idea was to spread the “contagion” and convert more people into vampires or whatever that creature is. Monsignor being the vessel for that agenda, why wouldn’t the vampire play along?
I like to think it actually is an ancient angel, that this was a misconception believed by Christians. That it originated the religion or had a hand therein and thus is no stranger to mass, the sacrament, etc. Kind of like a prometheus.
Midnight Mass: everything seems ~okay~ ish but the tense undercurrents keep surfacing.the teeth behind the smiles and the insincere kindness.maybe the monster is a metaphor for the ugliness we invite through our tiny individual corruptions
The angel looks kinda different when it was wearing that white robe. Idk it kinda looks clean, and not too scary? All the other times it has been on it was menacing, even when it was refilling the flask in rec center
In my opinion its both; a fallen angel cut off from grace which consumes the lifeblood of others which most considers sacred in order to survive and thrive.
I've always thought of the "angel" as both a vampire and an "angel of death". Every main character who saw the angel of death before the reveal in episode three, dies in the end. Also, no character in the show calls the "angel" a "vampire" at all either. I thought that was really well done.
@@user-in5ru2cd9l is a demon not an angel fallen from God's grace? An angel of death could very well be a demon then, twisted by ill grace to an evil purpose.
After watching the show I now realised Monsignor could walk in the sun at first because he wasn't a full blown "vampire" at that point until he was poisoned and physically died and woke again. Just reinforces the idea of "undead". So many details thought out for this show

What I wanted to know if the monster is supernatural or did it evolve. The show doesn't seem to make up it's mind there. It has be either one of the two. The reason I say the show is unable to decide is because the girl at the end looses her ability to walk again because the the creature may have died, that would only confirm that the creature is supernatural and wasn't really causing cellular regeneration. But then that would be inconsistent with the theme of misinterpretation. But if the creature was an evolved predator (supported by the fact that the predator was smarter than it's prey as is usually the case in nature), then the girl should have still been able to walk at the end and her spine would not magically go back to being severed again.
Beverly Caine reminded me of the woman who was the religious zealot in Stephen King's "The Mist." Unsettling how hypocrites comes out of the woodwork misusing the words of The Bible, Torah, and Koran while the sheep is clueless and simply follow blindly out of ignorance.
I think one uncomfortable truth about these books is that they're vague and very open to being misused like that. Every Bev quote fit the situation perfectly. The books are problematic.
Omg me too!! I felt like the ending was a bit unsatisfactory. I wanted Pruitt to do something right as redemption instead of just by dialogue that he changed his mind and as a whole I just felt like the action wasn't as intense as it could have been.
This creature is not really a vampire, It's a vampire sire - an originator of vampirism. Vampires are formerly human undead. This creature is clearly not human in origin therefore not a vampire. Not only does the priest not refer to the creature as a vampire, none of the characters in the show refer to it or any of the undead humans as such. This indicates that the Midnight Mass story takes place in a cinematic universe where knowledge of vampires - even as mythical lore - is nonexistent. And this story is a vampire origin story even though that is not the point of the story. I think the point about the characters not knowing about vampires is to show how motivated thinking and religious indoctrination can conspire together to cause humans - the priest, Bev and associates - to be blind to the evils of a novel, super-human/super-natural threat by misinterpreting it through the lens of their religious beliefs.
I thought it was a beautiful look at faith. New Age, Islam, Christian, all had failings and all gave peace to those that followed. I’m not religious but it was a really touching show.
I hated Bev so much in this show it's a real testament (no pun intended) to her acting abilities.... I usually root for the vampire in stories like these but nah.... not that cvnt!
Its fascinating knowing the location he was, probably for centuries without eating anything . The location in the desert was more of a prison for him because he couldn't leave even at night with full speed to reach nearest city. We can also see his infatuated hunger when he eat blood ...based on his long imprisoment
A vampire is the perfect analogy for the Catholic Church. It just eats and eats, leaving priests (mostly good I believe) to justify their choices until their hands are too dirty to get out clean.
Their transformation seems to come full circle once a person dies. If they kept taking the blood and not commit suicide, they could have had the best of both worlds and not combust in the sun.
I started watching this tv show just for the "sheriff school scene". But then I really enjoyed the entire show. Especially the background music, songs. I didn't like the ending. But overall a good show to spend your weekend.
y'know I was hoping the rec center wouldn't burn down and there would be a covenant of vampires and I expected them to get off the island for a s2 and the survivors would be back for blood but to be honest I wasn't even disappointed with the ending. Some things end at that. it was a great ending!
It’s literally the most biblically accurate show shown in a modern way! The devil represents the Anti Christ and his ability to manipulate the world into thinking he’s the true god. There’s so much to learn and prepare ourselves for what’s to come! God help us all!
@@FelixS. I think the point of the show is religion being used as a weapon for heinous acts and how much harm can be done in the name of beliefs, the vampire or whatever was just a means to deliver that message

How is it a vampire when vampires traditionally can't go inside churches, touch crosses and so on? Pruitt also claims that he was filled with the new covenant and that the vampire "told" him that it was an angel, and that it could communicate telepathically.
It’s a vampire. The creator of the show has stated this.
@@bignastytiger4174 I think the point is that since it was trapped in an ancient tomb, a good portion of the biblical mythos could be based on this creature who heals those who drink of it's blood and grants everlasting life.
They then fell to the deserts and were doomed to roam the earth as "ghouls."
About the ending, I think it could a number of ways:
+ The Angel or should I say the "Ghoul" can still live even under the sunlight but, it will lose its powers, hence why Leeza also lose her recovered legs.
So Leeza losing her recovered legs again could mean he was already gone far away enough that the influence to Leeza basically gone
In any case, this is a perfect one season show imo. I don't think we need a second season. BUT!! I do think this could turn into a some kind of anthology series where MIke Flanagan can explore the dark mythical creatures & religious mythologies in a profound philosophical manners to the human psyche.
Dude it was definitely a vampire. The shows creator confirmed it.
@@Saurophaganax1931 reread what he said. He didn’t say it wasn’t a vampire he said it wasn’t the typical European vampire

Right? It felt almost... intimate. Like wtf

The Angel of Death is a specific angel. And it has a specific job, which is to bring death.
@@rosesweetcharlotte Exactly.
@@solitudeguard5688 I wasn’t trying to be literal.
How is it an angel of death if it wasn’t trying to kill everybody?
I just loved the used of music and sound cues in this series. or the lack of it. it’s so appropriately placed and the absence of it at times is so unnerving, it’s amazing
Yes. I also loved the whole Andrew Wyeth scenery/photography too.
It's definitely not an angel or monster. More towards ancient creature/ Jinn of the Babylon - The Age of Magic, Necronomicon aka kitab Al-Azif. Modern called it vampire.
A question, at the starting of the movie why the priest walk in daylight?
i think he is transforming into a vampire, just a guess i need to keep up i need to watch hahah im at episode 4 god why am i here the spoilers ehehhehehe
Why did erine die at the end and not turn into vampire?
Hah definitely a vampire that was misperceived as an angel of god and giver of miracles. This blew me away!!
Same! This is the coolest take on a vampire story Ive ever seen
The best part is that John admitted himself in the end that he never actually saw it as anything more than a monster. He just needed to convince himself it was an angel before convincing others.
@@sanamsitaram7940 its definitely a classic take, this took me by surprise and I love vampires too. I was so amped up after the "Angel" attacked him in the cave. Then I was like why is he feeding him his blood unless he is a vampire!!!! Mind blown lol I got goosebumps
@@LucDutra92 I also loved how they never mentioned the word vampire.
@@nebulous8389 haha
Bruh imagine shipping a whole ass 8 ft vampire from Israel back to the states without anyone noticing. That’s one well-behaved angel lol
This is literally just a text-to-speech reading of the Screen Rant article.
Eh that's fine their website is a pain in the butt to navigate
There was two monsters on the island. Bev and "The Angel"
That ain't no damn angel.
He is an angel but one from Hell
The exact defenition of Lucifer...coincidence ? I think not.
He is a vampire. Nothing more nothing less. You make the same mistake as the people in the show.
@@FelixS. I look at it as a fallen angel, similar to satan and the others. The way it was locked up in a lost ruin near the ‘holy land’, and the way Riley was taken up by an angel when he died, shows me that this monster is a religious villain. Or maybe vampires and fallen angels are the same thing
@@samuelb5285 after reading up on Vampires a little more I learned that there is a theory that vampires are the offspring of fallen angels and humans.
@@FelixS. idk man, it’s definitely a vampire but it’s religious affiliations and manipulations lead it also to be demonic. It’s not just doing vampire shit, it’s twisting a whole community/covenant
I think he's named "Father Paul Hill" after the guy who shot the abortion clinic in Pensacola.
Bro. When the vampire is revealed to the whole town in church I couldn’t stop laughing. Why is he playing along with the Monsignor plan lmao. This isn’t a criticism of the show I just can’t help think what is going through that creatures mind
Well, the whole idea was to spread the “contagion” and convert more people into vampires or whatever that creature is. Monsignor being the vessel for that agenda, why wouldn’t the vampire play along?
It makes sense because the vampire couldn't spread it that easily himself, the story is similar to the strain
I like to think it actually is an ancient angel, that this was a misconception believed by Christians. That it originated the religion or had a hand therein and thus is no stranger to mass, the sacrament, etc. Kind of like a prometheus.
@@johndoe-ii1ko I like that idea
He was hungry?
Midnight Mass: everything seems ~okay~ ish but the tense undercurrents keep surfacing.the teeth behind the smiles and the insincere kindness.maybe the monster is a metaphor for the ugliness we invite through our tiny individual corruptions
God, the editing of this video almost gave me a seizure, you can hold on a clip for longer that 0.5 seconds
The angel looks kinda different when it was wearing that white robe. Idk it kinda looks clean, and not too scary? All the other times it has been on it was menacing, even when it was refilling the flask in rec center
It probably got cleaned up a bit so it could sell the whole act. It knows it has to look just angelic enough.
But it can only keep it up for so long.
Its a demon
@@user-in5ru2cd9l is a demon not an angel fallen from God's grace? An angel of death could very well be a demon then, twisted by ill grace to an evil purpose.
After watching the show I now realised Monsignor could walk in the sun at first because he wasn't a full blown "vampire" at that point until he was poisoned and physically died and woke again. Just reinforces the idea of "undead". So many details thought out for this show
I also really want to spam pictures of the “monster” of Midnight Mass but I can’t because spoilers but I’m just saying it now that I love them and their design and i’m obsessed with them and they’re so ho-*gets shot*
In life I've seen all kinds of horrors , at 63, after watching episode 5, I had a nightmare. This show is compulsive viewing.
Bev vs. Mrs. Carmody. Who will win?
Beverly Caine reminded me of the woman who was the religious zealot in Stephen King's "The Mist." Unsettling how hypocrites comes out of the woodwork misusing the words of The Bible, Torah, and Koran while the sheep is clueless and simply follow blindly out of ignorance.
Every Religion on Earth Has At least a Beverly Caine in them. So scary.
I think one uncomfortable truth about these books is that they're vague and very open to being misused like that. Every Bev quote fit the situation perfectly. The books are problematic.
bev is the true monster
That ending. Really cried.
Seriously this is the thumbnail you pick? I was just trying to look up a review of the show and now the ending is spoiled for me. Fucking thanks.
Really enjoyed the show until the last two episodes.
It didn't ruin the experience as a whole but it just didn't work for me.
Omg me too!! I felt like the ending was a bit unsatisfactory. I wanted Pruitt to do something right as redemption instead of just by dialogue that he changed his mind and as a whole I just felt like the action wasn't as intense as it could have been.
I loved the last 2 episodes it was so intense ! (Not everything has to have a ‘happy’ ending )
The Flynn's were devout without being zealots as for the rest well you know. Also Ms Greene
Why isn't never a scary movie about a haunted mosque
2:51 there is no book that this is adapted from. this series is not an adaptation.
A vampire is the perfect analogy for the Catholic Church. It just eats and eats, leaving priests (mostly good I believe) to justify their choices until their hands are too dirty to get out clean.
Shorter Midnight Mass: maybe the true monster is the Catholic Churches we made along the way.
Yeah, the vampire actually seems like a cool guy by comparison
Their transformation seems to come full circle once a person dies. If they kept taking the blood and not commit suicide, they could have had the best of both worlds and not combust in the sun.
I started watching this tv show just for the "sheriff school scene". But then I really enjoyed the entire show. Especially the background music, songs. I didn't like the ending. But overall a good show to spend your weekend.
such an amazing scene, made me despise bev even more though
y'know I was hoping the rec center wouldn't burn down and there would be a covenant of vampires and I expected them to get off the island for a s2 and the survivors would be back for blood but to be honest I wasn't even disappointed with the ending. Some things end at that. it was a great ending!
How did Erin not turn??? She drank the wine during mass
It’s literally the most biblically accurate show shown in a modern way! The devil represents the Anti Christ and his ability to manipulate the world into thinking he’s the true god. There’s so much to learn and prepare ourselves for what’s to come! God help us all!
He was clearly a demon a vampire demon since when do angel eat people for breakfast lunch and dinner
Dude, it is just a vampire. Nothing more nothing less. The whole point of the Show is religious people confusing a vampire for something else.
@@FelixS. I think the point of the show is religion being used as a weapon for heinous acts and how much harm can be done in the name of beliefs, the vampire or whatever was just a means to deliver that message
@@LeilaleilaZ My point is part of the point you made. Both statements go hand in hand.
No just a vampire.
Jonestown meets Nosferatu🖤
Beverly Kean is the ONE character I have VER hated in the same regard as Delores Umbridge. What a performance by the actress and what incredible writing.
I was expecting the old sailor guy to come back and kill the vampire with a “pike” at the end which is basically a long harpoon, and that was the name of his dog. But I guess I was wrong lol
Considering bullets literally did nothing to it I don’t think a harpoon would do much ether. I feel like fire or sunlight are the only things that can harm it. (Or excessive force such as a huge explosion)
How is it a vampire when vampires traditionally can't go inside churches, touch crosses and so on? Pruitt also claims that he was filled with the new covenant and that the vampire "told" him that it was an angel, and that it could communicate telepathically. Also he keeps saying that when angels appear to man, man always gets afraid. And the bible actually depicts angels like this monster sometimes. So how are you sure it's supposed to be a vampire?
I can relate cuz my country is turning into a theocracy and we have a lot of "father Paul" and "Bev", even in the government
Which country are you from?
I thought it was a demon lol. Would still make sense tbf
I agree. Vampires don't typically have massive bat wings and they look more human. Imo it's a demon that creates vampires
@@iller64 Vampires can look like that. In some folklore these big demonlike vampires create the human vampires aswell. Vampires are by many considered to be demonic.
Do you guys think this song should be in the SERIES? :ruclips.net/video/0486-RIwYDg/видео.html
Satan always transforms himself into angel of light.
Exceptional series. The acting, wow. The first two thirds were my favourite
I think they are making it pretty clear angels are a kind of vampire.
