Hi, i recently bought a 2x4 tent with 2000w LED and i definitely need some help using it to grow my tomatoes. how bright should ii keep the light? how many hours a day? what about humidity? and how frequently should i water? i've grown tomatoes outside but i'm clueless about how to do it indoors, can you help?
That is a fantastic vocabulary word! :) We are so happy with how everything is growing right now. We definitely want to keep the green look all winter. I think it will be interesting to see how the coming months change the way our tent looks as we transplant, harvest, and repeat the cycle. :)
Yes, we have a lot growing on in the indoor space, and we have a lot more to come. :) It is always interesting to see how a garden area changes over the months it grows. Thank you so much for watching!
Wow -- you got a lot going on in that tent. There is no way I could do that indoors -- but it's nice to see that others can do it. It looks nice and spring/summer in your tent. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! We are pretty lucky to have as much space as we do indoors. When we set this area aside, we didn't know we would eventually be growing this much in there, but now I think we couldn't do without it.
Papaya is one of our experiments for sure. We can't plant it outside here in zone 5, so we are really interested to see what we can do with it indoors. There is always plenty for all of us to learn. :) No doubt about it! I hope your weekend is going well!
Thank you so much! We are working hard to keep fresh vegetables for the whole family all year long! It's a lot of fun to be able to enjoy food from the garden even when it is 0 degrees outside. :)
Wow, I never thought I could grow so much in my basement here in Wisconsin. Thanks for sharing your winter garden. I see a basement garden in my future. Love this info. 🙂🥬🌶️🥔

Thank you so, so much Dan! If we can encourage other people to grow more, then we will feel really good about what we are able to accomplish on this channel. Our vegetables are getting close to harvest, and that is really exciting!
Great variety growing. After seeing that you started papaya seeds, I am thinking those seeds are papaya seeds. I assume you already know, but papaya seeds are edible and are quite good for you! Looks like a ton of tangerines, any fruit is definitely good fruit. Great timing on the grow, I still have yet to be successful at getting the timing right. 😁
You are 100% correct both about the variety of the seeds being papaya and about eating them. I like the taste a lot, though I never ate them prior to this year. I had also heard they were healthy for you. My wife loves papaya more than I do too, so it will be interesting to see what we can do with these seeds. Fingers crossed on the tangerines. The way the fruit is growing now, I think we have a good shot. :) We'll see in a few months. Have a great evening!
I’ve had so much bad experience with forgetting to label my plants. But for some reason eventually I always end up doing it again every season 😂 good thing I’m learning to identify seedlings better every season.
@@GutenGardening yes I am growing basil indoors, as it gets closer to fall right now I am currently prepping seeds for growing in the winter indoors, I get snow where I am so I can’t grow in the winter unless I do it indoors. By me growing indoors I hope to have fresh fruits , Herbs and vegetables all year round . This year for me is my first year growing food plants indoors so I am experimenting to see how many things I can grow indoors and figure out my limits because I want to grow as much indoors as I possibly can so that way when I can’t grow in my outdoor garden I am still growing indoors some food. Fall normally starts for me in September, some plants might take two months so that is why I am starting them now. I have strawberry plants I got seedlings from the store currently growing, I have as you know basil I’m going to be planting green onions, I will have oregano I also have some pepper plants that I have started months back but for some reason are not yet ready to plant outside, but would be interesting to see if I can get them to produce fruit indoors, they are bell peppers, If the bell peppers plant does not produce fruit indoors even though I’m pretty confident it will and it still looks healthy I will plant it next summer outside or possibly just keep it in the pot if growing indoors is successful for that plant. I have grow lights that I use on these plants, I hear that you can grow green onions without grow lights in a south facing window so I will be trying that with the green onions.
This is so cool! I bought a used grow tent and light and want to give this a try. I started seeds this past winter and I think where I fail is in the watering department. How do you keep track of the watering.? Who needs how much and when?
That is so exciting! Getting things set up is more than half the battle. :D As to your question about watering, we kind of got into a rhythm that took a little while. I do think, early on, it was very easy to underwater. That the consistent warmth in the tent, things do tend to dry out a little faster. One of the things we did (and this is not perfect), but we bought one of the soil moisture meters (amzn.to/3ndPdEG) and used that to help us gauge moisture level. Beyond that, we were consistent about when we watered (in terms of time of day) and really it was all about keeping as close an eye as possible on what was growing. :) What type of lighting do you have?
@@GutenGardening 😁 I don't know. It's about 1'x 6" x 3" & as far as I know full spectrum LED and looks bright white light. I truly was afraid to overwater and ended up under watering. I'm determined to do better, and learn from last season's mistakes and hope to nail down that rhythm.
You will definitely get it all figured out as long as you find a way to be consistant. As you get started this season, we would love to know how things are going, and if there are any questions we can help answer, we will. :)
Hello Joann! Great question. We hand polinate everything that needs that. In fact, you can check out one of our videos on this here: ruclips.net/video/snQZ_rJlSmU/видео.html

Thank you so much! It might be easier to send you to a video we did that talks about the setup and has links in the description. ruclips.net/video/DsDQfdOt8Bg/видео.html. We would be happy to answer any questions that come up about getting started with indoor growing.
Thank you for that video. I am also in zone 5 and my son has been urging me to try a grow tent. I wanted to ask about how many different plants you have or how many can grown in the grow tent? Is there anything not good to grow in the tent? Why did you use a raised bed and not just all containers?
Hello Jenneh, Last year we experiments with a large variety of plants, and we plan to extend that even further this coming winter. :) We haven't really found plants that don't grow well, per se. We even grew potatoes in our grow tent this time around. So, I would definitely encourage you to try out a grow tent. As to the raised bed, we wanted to provide a little more space than containers might allow, and we also wanted to do a little work with vertical gardening, so we are also working to see if we can place lights underneath the raised bed to do multi-layer growing. :)
Great questions. Our setup, including air flow can be found here, so you can get all the specifics: ruclips.net/video/DsDQfdOt8Bg/видео.html As far as our light cycle, we usually grow at 16 hours on and 8 hours off. I hope that answers your questions, but please let me know if you need any more clarification. Thank you for watching!
5:35 I think that is passion fruit. What grow zone are you in? I want to also grow in the winter and I am 6B in my basement, but my basement gets very cold
15.5 is a little low, I think, but it depends too on the vegetables you are trying to grow. Some like the cooler temps. We have found that the grow lights do increase temps at least locally. As to the light cycle, we usually keep lights on for around 13-14 hours, and we run them overnight because electricity costs are lower over night.
No infestation at all. We only put a few in there, but it doesn't appear as though they multiplied. However, we did add more castings this season as well, and I am sure there are a few cocoons in there, so there will likely be more in the coming days.
Hello Marlene, thank you for the question. We have not had a problem with the lettuce bolting, but we have had to be careful with the leaves "burning" if that makes sense. So, in that case we have to make sure the heat from the light doesn't get too close to the lettuce. I hope that answers your question clearly. Have a great day!
@@GutenGardening Thank you. I have some Aerogarden, but if I can grow it all in my 4x8' tent that I got last spring, I can free up some space. What are you using for ventilation?
