    1883, a Yellowstone origin story, follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. Watching this made me understand more that I am fortunate to be here. My ancestors used the Oregon trail and could have been picked off.

    It’s insane how this was filmed so close to my home. It literally looks like looking out the window of my house. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve played in the Brazos river!

      I've never cared for characters more than I cared for the ones in 1883. Such a perfectly cast series that was wonderfully written and executed both behind the camera and by the cast! I wish Taylor Sheridan treated all of his characters in Yellowstone the way that he treated them in this show!

    The river scene was bordering on the line of absurd . I mean that water looked incredibly tame and people are drowning. I know they couldn’t swim with the excuse of “weren’t allowed” but really? Packing a wood stove, umm ok but a piano ?!

    • @G58
      @G58 2 года назад

      Agreed. River crossings can be very dangerous, but the way to make them safer is to use relays, and a system of ropes tied across the river downstream to catch anyone who gets into trouble.
      There’s too much fake jeopardy on TV, in dramas, but also in so-called ‘reality TV’.

    I love same Sam Elliot but I hate how he said 'PTSD' out of the side of his mouth like it's a 5 year old with ADD. I understand his character is saying that he came from a harder era. He said it in a dismissive way that fits the denial his character has. However, I don't like that message sent to wifi streaming viewers a paramount plus show like it's ok for them to think that way too while they sit on their couch.

    First of all, I really enjoyed this series. Many parts of it are probably true to life. And I appreciate the effort made by Sheridan and his crew to try and make every part of it realistic. With that being said, this river crossing is one of the most ridiculous events I've ever seen on the big screen. Anyone who knows anything about rivers knows that you do not cross in the deepest part. Why didn't they cross where the shallow shoal or riffle is which is pictured in plain view. I think that it's odd that James's wagon really had no problem getting across. In fact, the river level barely got above the axles. Also, the non-swimmers should have road with the more experienced drivers or sat behind James on horseback. So, three people drowned? Like I said...ridiculous. 🙄

    These immigrants couldn't speak English and all instructions were in English with little or no translation. They were deathly afraid of the river and Shay never showed them how to cross the river safely. There were too many things that made no sense. People died needlessly in every episode.

  • @oldguysmusic2929

    Beyond the wonderful scenery and the star actors the story fell flat.
    The story started with 60+ immigrants, including 20 children. At the end there were about 4 adults and 3 children still alive. Those children weren't killed they just disappeared. Too many things in the story didn't make any sense at all.

    It's a good thing Sam Elliott's character is dead and gone, because for him to trash talk Yellowstone, AFTER he cashed his paychecks and AFTER the SAG benefits have been earned, I'm all done with him for right now. Anything pertaining to Sam Elliott, I'm just done with for right now. Thank you, next!

      Sam Elliott did NOT trash talk Yellowstone, he did NOT say he thinks it's a lousy show or that it doesn't deserve its popularity. He merely said it's not the sort of show he enjoys. I'm pretty sure Taylor Sheridan's skin isn't so tissue paper thin that this upsets him. In fact, after working and living so closely together for months filming this huge project, the two men had probably already talked about it. Some people are such babies -- can't stand it if someone has a different opinion or different taste.
