    I have the Kisan headlight modulator on my 2006 Honda VTX 1300R with an LED headlamp. I use my modulator 99% of the time. No problems to my bike after 6 years of this combo. The headlight modulator has saved me from getting hit many times.

    I was looking for the best way to be visible which included hi viz gear, but twice in one week still had someone pull out in front of me. I think this is a great option on its own or addition to being visible to drivers. Both front and rear sets were easy to install. Worth the $$! Be safe everybody!

    Just put one of these on my 2022 DCT Tour tonight. Thankyou for the video everything is easier when you can watch someone doing it. I shall be purchasing your video collection in the very near future.
    One thing that Kisan have done is shorten the wires on the harness to where you can no longer mount the sensor onto the plastic bulkhead. in fact its so short now that it has to hang in the air behind the headlight plug cause there just isn't enough length to take it anywhere. Slightly annoying as it would cost them so little to have made at least one side of the harness two inches longer and given us enough cable to mount it. These things ain't cheap after all.. Naughty Kisan.

You are giving confidence to those who never thought they can install these and that makes them a safer and better protected motorcyclist. This is the first time since I started following Cruiseman that I have felt compelled to disagree in writing. I don’t support the use of a headlight modulator and here’s why. I was a motor officer and motor training officer in the 80s and 90s. Between commuting on my KZ1000 and enforcement riding, I averaged 35-40K miles per year. Needless to say, I’ve chased down and stopped thousands of drivers with flashing emergency lights on my bike. I have seen the crazy, almost unimaginable things drivers do when they see flashing lights coming toward them. The best example I can provide is the one than changed my life forever and resulted in serious and life altering injuries. I chased a driver who had run a stale red light in rush hour traffic. I had all my emergency lights on and had to close from a distance of about 150’. The violator drove through a second lighted intersection on a steady green. As I approached the same intersection, a driver in a truck facing me made a left turn in front of me and I collided broadside with the right side of the truck. In his statement to investigating officers, the driver of the truck said he just wanted to get out of the way. It didn’t work out so well for me, and that same scenario played out numerous times throughout the years. People do crazy things when they see flashing lights approaching. The way I handle the intersection approach now days is to flash my headlights a couple times between standard and high beam in an attempt to draw attention to my approach. As for the taillight modulator, I think it’s a great idea/product, and I highly recommend the install. Thanks for the video Cruiseman, and keep’m coming! Respectfully, Dave

      I thought about flashing my lights a couple times too instead of getting a modulator and decided against it because usually if you flash your lights, it is telling the other person that it's ok to go.

    Thanks for this.
    Never been a huge fan of headlight modulators, but having recently been in an intersection RTC, with a left-turning driver, and watching this video, I now have two on order for my bikes ( including the one currently under repair).
    I also have two of the high level Honda rack-light trail blazers on order too.
    I already have the Goldstrike trunk light fitted, through a modulator for deceleration warning, so think having these, with the normal function in tail lights, should be more than sufficient.

    Did you ever do another video on permanently mounting the light sensor? I thought it might work in the upper right corner of the speaker cover on the left side cause I could get to it from behind without removing it, but couldn't figure out how to drill the hole.
    I also found that the new kits have shorter wires so I couldn't mount the Velcro in the same place. Just had to put it where ever it would reach and the entire Velcro is not secured, used plastic ties to keep everything from bouncing around.

    I really like the brake light modulator. Looks like you use the 12 pin plug model, and it comes with both left and right in one pack? Directions say to mount vertically for best accelerometer function but I don't see how that's possible to do under the seat.

    You need to update the installation video for the headlight modulator because Kisan has changed the hardware. They changed the length of the cable between the headlight and bike wiring (you can no longer reach the tab where you used velcro to hold it in place) the box that holds the circuitry and the sensor cable connection to the unit is completely different.

    Looking for some words of wisdom. Just purchased the Pathblazer for my 2018, and I'm assuming it's the new version since the wires are very short and unless I have the light sensor held up pointing directly at the sun, it won't work. I've tried recalibrating it but the headlight flashes 8 times telling me it's too dark per the instructions. It's 5pm and I'm outside on a partly sunny day. Forget about trying to mount it anywhere near the bike. I watched your video and no way can I mount it where you did. Anybody have any ideas other than returning it? Thanks.
    Update. I think I got both working. The light sensor is real finicky. Also, when I installed the Tailblazer, I put the sensors as flat as I could per the instructions, but for some reason, once I put the seat back on (twice) they stopped working. I have no idea why.
    I never thought about this before, but with all the issues, made me think. When you're riding, how do you know if they're actually working? You don't. They should have made some kind of sensor for at least the Pathblazer notifying you if it's actually on or not. Knowing what I know now, I would have never bought them. One more thing to worry about when I'm riding.

    Nice video...I really like the rear brake setup.
    I wonder though...how will the LED headlight hold up with it flashing...the headlight assembly cost over 1100 dollars from Honda plus labor
    to install and if one LED fails in the headlight the whole headlight assembly will have to be replaced...and DMV will make you replace the headlight assembly before renewing the tags for the bike if one LED fails in the headlight...and we all know Honda will not warranty the headlight with mods done to it...just thinking out loud here.

    Cruiseman, i love the Brakelight modulators too and have installed them on every bike i have owned. My 2021 Goldwing tour seems to have more wiring under the seat in the location you put your units. There are protrusions that are part of the seat pan that hit the modulator units. Your seat in the video has these protrusions too and certainly look like they would hit the modulators. Any suggestions ?

    I was hit from behind by a car while waiting my turn on my motorcycle at the stop sign. it was my daily commute to work.I must say it was the most profitable paid nine month vacation of my life.
    I had a Honda pacific coast. If you’re familiar with the machine, the tail light on a Honda pacific coast is at least 15 inches wide. I had one of those brake modulator accessories. I believe it was called a back off modulator. holding the brake lever on, the light will flash three times on/off/on/off/on and stay on for three or four seconds and then begin the flashing sequence again continuously as long as you’re holding the brakes on.
    so I am sitting waiting my turn at the four way intersection. i am next in my lane to go..Everyone has stop signs. It’s not my turn. Wham!!!!!
    I don’t know how much time passed while I was laying on the ground. But as I was coming to, I heard what later turned out to be the man that hit me explaining to the police officer, “I saw his tail light flashing, so I thought he was pulling away “ I was laying on the ground, I had my aerostitch motorcycle riding Suit on.motorcycle boots, studded gauntlet gloves, and a two week old shoei full cover helmet...At that time, I had been riding/commuting by motorcycle for over 30 years.I woke up on a lane divider concrete island between the lanes. as I moved my head I could hear my brand new $450 helmet grinding on the undriven on rough concrete as I started to move my head from side to side getting my bearings.
    when I heard the man explaining that he mistakenly thought I was pulling out because he saw my tail light flashing, I knew that the modulator flashing system on my machine was the cause of the accident.
    in the following months that I was home recuperating with shoulder damage, I did online research. I found that there is a phenomenon known as “target fixation “ Which means, you tend to stare at something when you don’t understand exactly what it is and suspend reacting correctly in the situation.
    example. Montana state police installed headlight modulators on state police cars at one time. I’m not sure of the year. But I did hear that the Montana State police cars with the headlight modulators had the highest incidence of head on collisions in the entire country. they were being driven into by people crossing the centerline and hitting them head on. The reason for this is, when a person saw those headlights acting in a way they had never seen before, the subconscious wants to stare at it until it determines exactly what it is. Consequently, people tend to drive into things that they are looking at. I have taught many people to ride motorcycles and quads when I worked for different motorcycle shops for 17 years. One of the things that I told my students was, don’t look where you don’t want to go. I taught my kids the same thing when they were learning to ride dirt bikes, and when they were learning to drive cars.
    conclusion:
    It is very risky installing a modulator for the tail light or the headlight because of target fixation phenomenon. People will be practically hypnotized, drawn to staring at it as it approaches them. And till they figure out what it is. as a result, people will tend to veer into the direction of the approaching flashing lights..
    I told the story once before on the Internet, and I was contacted by a group for my safety study, and they wanted my story because there is a number of people that have these devices on their cars and trucks and motorcycles that are involved in accidents, are the result of the lights on vehicles acting in an unusual way, causing people to drive right into them..
    When I heard that man that smashed into my motorcycle knocking me out of work for nine months explaining to the police officer, that he saw my lights flashing and thought I was going to go, I am convinced my accident was caused by the flashing lights I had on my motorcycle, that I thought would give me more protection

      @simeonovack 3 года назад +1

      Hello there , it is interesting point of view for sure and sorry for you being rear ended, but honestly what that person was explaining sounds to more like excuse than the real reason! Why would that person think you were about to go !?!? You see something flashing ,but it doesn’t move and you still hit it instead of stopping? I don’t have this unit installed on my bike , but really don’t see how that will be the reason for someone run into you.

    I feel like I am spending too much time on this website but....... A strange thing occurred on my way home this afternoon from downtown Phoenix. My headlight modulator was not working despite working fine this morning on the way to work. Also when I got home I noticed that the fog/running light on the Pathfinder sequential cowl lights were not working but the turn signal part of the unit was. The temp on the way to work (6:30 am) was 92 degrees and was 114 on the way home (3:00 pm). I went back to the garage 1.5 hours later and disconnected the sensor, pulled it back in and then reset the modulator with the 3 on/off of the high beam switch. Both were then working. Does anyone know if this modulator is heat sensitive? And if so, why the modulator would have affected the fog/running lights? Otherwise I am at a loss to explain why the temporary failure of the modulator and the fog/running lights. It was only a 20 minute ride so the heat did not affect my mental condition.

    Does the Pathblazer headlight modulator ONLY work when the hi-beams are turned on? This then shuts off the fog lights, correct? If so, that kind of defeats the added visibility of the fog lights. Is there any way to have the fog lights stay on & still have the hi-beams flash?

    So I have a question about the Pathfinder Headlight Modulator. It is activated by turning your high beam switch on. So I’m going to assume, if you ride with your fog/ running lights on then switch the high beam on to activate the modulator, then you will shut off the fog lights. Is there a product out yet to over ride the fog light kill switch when the high beans are on?

    • @cruisemansgarage
      @cruisemansgarage  4 года назад +1

      That is correct. I believe Electrical Connection makes an override or bypass that allows the hi-beams and fog lights to stay one together, but it may depend on which brand fog lights you have installed.

  • @MrSkeptical
    @MrSkeptical 4 года назад

    The High and Low beams should pulse together simultaneously! I feel that Maximum visibility would be obtained by the contrast of all lights pulsing together as one. The Low beams staying on distracts from the pulsing High Beams... better than nothing, just my humble opinion.

    Long question . If I install the Ciro LED Blade light for the tour model with plug and play harness can I still connect the tail blazer in line with its own plug and play harness too?

      Not sure if it has been tested yet, but it "should" work OK. Just install the tailBlazers to the rear of the Ciro harness.

      @@cruisemansgarage Was told the bike they are using to test it on is at Daytona and when it gets back they will finish testing and maybe have something in a few weeks. As of 3-10-2020

    Will this work with the PathfinderLED Sequential Brake/Running Light for 2018+ Honda Goldwing Tour

      The tailBlazer for the tail/brake lights (the ones shown in the video) WILL work. In fact, that's what I have installed on my 2018. The tailBlazer for the Hi-Mount Honda Brake Light is not needed.

    These seem utterly pointless qell in the UK
    A headlight flash in the UK is a signal to let another driver go

    People pull over because they think I’m a cop. I’d rather that then getting t-boned.
