    Excellent job. Just a tip for any of your viewers who are thinking of buying Crockett and Jones or Tricker’s footwear - they can be a little snug, particularly for slip-on styles. It’s worth paying attention to the size guides on their websites as they may recommend going a half size up from normal. Crockett actually include instructions to measure feet and if customers are unsure, they suggest sending them the measurements for them to advise.

      The last shape can behave a bit different depending on the style with CJ. Im a 9.5 in boots and derbies but had to have a loafer in a 10..

    • @gavindadds4414
      @gavindadds4414 Год назад +2

      Slip on styles need to fit a little snug. Once they stretch you can't just do the laces up a little tighter so they should initially be tighter than a lace-up shoe or a boot.

    Always consummate results from the master craftsman. If you want boots to present themselves as quintessential British with uppers bar non then they deserve leather footbed solid shanks and a midsole of quality leather and an outsole FM JR along with solid brass toe plates split welts and leather stacked heels with brass nail flourish and darkened brown leather and artisan stamps! Bedo...Steve...you represent the cobbling craft and leather works repair to the Grand Master Level....you should be a member in the British Guild.
    Or perhaps there should be a Utube Guild for Cobblers.
    You have my vote for first class standards and execution. Thanks for the Video. The boots are fit for an Officer and a gentleman!

    Happy to see you work on a pair of C&J and that they're put together reasonably. I spent a long while trying to figure out a good middle ground with shoes and have am very happy with this brand. Have bought many pairs. They become comfortable quick, price point is ok and the service in their main London shop is very, very good. This would be my #1 British shoe brand recommendation. I have the same pair of Coniston and would recommend them. The only thing is that this pebble grain leather may not be the best for a shaft as it never really becomes super soft, so it takes a long while in the beginning to make the shaft a bit pliable and not awkward walking down stairs.

    As far as the stress in your fingers or hands during sewing, you might want to soak your hands or place them in a heated moist hand towel for a few minutes ( 10 min) it can help to relax the muscles & tendons. Then you can exercise your fingers and hands, gently. Then again if there is swelling then you can try COOL water soak for few minutes. See which feels better. BTW don’t think I’ve ever seen you with a tie on. You look very distinguished & handsome. The boots turned out fantastic. Love the fact that they were made out of QUALITY material.

    That's beautiful clean work Steve... and all planned to succeed. Doing my brother's C&J cap toes next, resole, re-heel and sand down some cracks that the previous owner probably caused by only using wax... and caking it on the vamps! They have thick horrible Toppy type things on the outsoles at the moment that ruin the look and function of the shoe. I'd imagine the outsoles were shot so these abomination were stuck on.
