If I am not mistaken Tom Snyder was still doing his show in the early ninety's . He was affable and yet striking with questions during his interviews with celebrities . Tom was awesome. Bill has picked up that mantle and is still running with it .
I'll never forget on the Carson show the one Karnak part of the show where Carson would put the envelope to his head and predict the answer to the unseen question so he takes the envelope puts it up to his turban and proclaims Sis poom Baa! Then he proceeds to open the envelope and recites the question what is the sound of a burning exploding sheep
What comedy cannot be political? Takes two to tango and unless all the audience, either the speaker, the listener and message won’t all be on the same wavelength. There will some jarring and grinding even among the faithful, let alone the disapproving aunt standing in the background, peering over your shoulder.
For a "smart" guy Bill tosses off some dumb stuff sometimes. I'm an agnostic at the very least...so I have no stock in any religions, but "the Japanese believed in it and they did the Rape Of Nanking during WWII". Bill, Buddhism was not the main religion in Japan then. Shinto was the state religion and there were even efforts being made at the time to get rid of Buddhism's influence in their society.
