This is why people want to work remotely. No big income requirement to live well in Ecuador.

this is a big reason I cite for why I like living here. My sister in Maine said she didn't mind picking me up at the airport....IF.....if on the way home I didn't mention the price of veggies and fruits USA vs Vilcabamba. But as snowbird back then I saw the rise in prices starkly on my return each spring. These days thats gotten really crazy. Here in Vilcabamba eating healthy is also eating economically and I get to sample and expirement. Having children, Carl can buy an armfull of produce every week and know it'll be consumed. For us slower and older consumers its a challenge to manage it all....keeping stuff from going bad while it waits on the counter. A better problem than having only industrial solent caca at afordable prices. That crep lasts because even microbes know its not edible.

    Smums Carl 😋
My one and only issue with such a truck coming by is, I will buy fruit and veg for a year in an instant, forgetting all about how much (little) my body actually can consume... 🙂

My car is sacrosanct, only water in the car. Had too many close calls. But the fruit looks delicious !

So happy to now know that Yaka (what we call it in Mexico) Jack fruit grows in Ecuador. The state of Nayarit is famous for the largest ones. They sell it by the kilo, jams, juice, jackfruit bread, and something you want to know about, the seeds are edible, (best roasted in the oven with some salt and coconut oil) and are a powerhouse of antioxidents that build up the immune system. In addition, it regulates insulin (especially needed on your high carb Ecuadorian diet lol) and can help people with diabetes. So were those average Yakas or large ones? The ones here a massive! Can they be found in markets in Cuenca, Loja and Villcabamba?

Hey Mike they range in size from average to massive here as well. Depends on the season and area. You can find them all over when they’re in season. Where in Mexico are you at again?

More and more fruit stores are selling jackfruit that are either grown locally in vilcabamba or from Santo domingo in ecuador.

Kind of expensive but I guess he needs to make a living. Some items are cheaper here at Walmart. However some are cheaper.
