Fairfield will definitely be on my list to visit after watching your food tour video. Thank you for sharing your experiences and reviews. Keep the Sydney food tour videos coming. They’re great.
Thanks @SecondLifeUpcycling! We are really enjoying getting out of our bubble and exploring wider parts of Sydney. Who needs to travel overseas when you can experience the food of the world in Sydney! - Jon
Hey Yasin! We had an amazing time exploring Iraqi food in Sydney. We really love that you can experience the food of the world just by catching the train around Sydney!
😃😃 Thank you! Yes, one aspect of Sydney that makes it really special is how well it does international cuisine. Whilst we love travelling the world to experience the real thing, experiencing the flavours of the world in Sydney is the next best thing!
Thank you! Abu Ali was such an awesome experience and we are so grateful for your recommendation! The restaurant itself was so amazingly decorated and we were told the owner brought all the decorations from Iraq to Australia. There was so much love and care in the restaurant and the food was fantastic!
In which book does it say Iraqi mean Arab or Muslim? It’s a name of a damn country! no one gives a damn what Iraq was called 5000 years ago, Assyria doesn’t exist anymore you are from a country called Iraq full stop 🛑 stop being Ashamed of where you come from!
We do try to look out for veggie dishes and will do another vege/vegan food tour video soon. At home, we have largely shifted our diets to vegetarian/fish. We generally eat meat only when we go out. Thanks for watching!
Is amazing haw the suburbs develops own culture and food and deserts is feel great ! You go to Vaucluse Eastern suburb you have only one shop fish and cheeps 😂😂😂 thank you for great vlog
Nooo you guys missed the most important place, Al Madena shawarma, next time you’re in the area, it’s a must visit !! Nonetheless great video and please give Greenacre a visit soon 😊
Ahhh, sorry to hear we missed Al Madena. We'll keep that in mind for next time. Thanks also for the suggestion about Greenacre, any places in particular that you recommend?
Thank you very nice vedio again. I have tried little india twice by watching your vedio and Malaysian food in campsie now I have to travel to Fairfield for Iraqi food OH you will make me fat😊😊
🤣🤣 Thank you. That has made our day to hear that you have visited Little Indian and Campsie after watching our videos! Our waistlines are becoming an occupational hazard! Perhaps next video should be about a 72 hour fast instead!😜 -Jon
Chilli sauce with lahm ajeen is unheard of... The owner must be on something at the time haha... Since when chillis are used in iraqi food not alone middle eastern food?
We would love to experience Iraqi food firsthand, it is definitely on our bucket list. An added bonus that it sounds very cheap too! Thanks for watching.😀
That lamb tika you had I ordered 2 mixed plates take away they charge me 60 dollars when I when home it was only 4 small lamb tika the chicken was hard and the kabob was so small and thin abu Ali is a rip off and the bread they gave us was all hard couldn’t even eat it
Hi @johnesho7372 , we’re sorry to hear about your experience-that sounds really disappointing. We enjoyed the lamb tikka when we visited, but it’s frustrating when takeaway doesn’t meet expectations, especially at that price. Thank you for sharing your feedback. Hopefully, they take comments like yours on board to improve in the future!
Thanks for your comment! You're absolutely right that Fairfield is home to a vibrant mix of cultures, including a strong Iraqi community. Many older generations here were indeed born in different countries and migrated to Australia, bringing with them their rich cultural traditions, including amazing food! 😊
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. We acknowledge that people may have different perspectives on this topic. For us, recognising the traditional owners of the land is an important way of showing respect and honouring the rich history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We appreciate your engagement and hope to keep fostering conversations that promote understanding and inclusivity.
@@BucketListTravellers No thanks. I don't pander to this BS and woke agendas. Somebody who owns a title deed to a particular parcel of land is the owner FULL STOP. won't be watching any more of your vids, or engaging. Australia voted NO
You guys honestly went to the wrong places in Fairfield abu Ali is the worst restaurant in Fairfield and nawros is not 4.8 stars and what you at nawros it’s over cooked I live in Fairfield for 22 years and I know all those restaurant are the worst once
enjoy your videos aussie are ignorant when it comes middle eastern food and other cuisines as well ,thanks for educating them i am one but have travelled ,i think the right wing mob are always unfortunately spreading bad vibes , immigration has made australia what it is, i am not political
We appreciate you pointing that out - we are always learning about the world around us, and one of our biggest goals is to help people experience and appreciate other cultures through food. Thanks for watching!
To be honest, I had not heard of Chaldeans prior to your comment, so thank you for mentioning them. That helped me understand why Christian pictures and artefacts were in some of the restaurants we visited. I've clearly got a lot more Iraqi history to read up on! -Jon

Never go to that place, trust me u don’t wanna go there. The best is Fairfield hights Baghdad nights or dyafa restaurant near the station. Do not go to any Ali
Thanks for the recommendations. We had a nice time at Ali and the lady looking after us was really lovely, but understand that not everyone will have the same experience. Thanks for watching!

Not just Iraqi but many of these places are Assyrian owned and run!
Yeh Assyrians are Christian Iraqis

Iraqi food in Fairfield is the best. You cannot go wrong there. Not only that, I recommend the Middle Eastern bakeries there too.
It was amazing to see that every second shop in Fairfield was an Iraqi restaurant or bakery!

Arabic versions of baklava/beklerwa is the best. I like it even better than the Turkish and Greek versions.
It's amazing how much variety there can be in just one dish! I do like the addition of rose syrup in my baklava!

From the amazing decor of Abu Ali to unbeatable $5 falafels, Fairfield's Iraqi food scene was amazing! Thanks for watching!
