That's not mantis style, those moves are from Hun-gar which is what every other earthbender use. She should be using Southern mantis like Toph uses in the animated series.

Puberty is a huge boost for human's growth and development sadly.. 😢 Even just 1 year in your teenage time, it matters a lot. You can grow like 5cms in that 1 year. And also the voice getting heavier. The way you talk also gonna be different

THey just need to film back to back, and it won't be that jarring anyway if they just look and sound a LITTLE bit older. They can also pitch down a few voices, especially if recording on individual lavaliers or if they ADR the dialogue. Plus, the fact that Aang learned to bend the elements as well as he did in just one year and then took down the Fire Lord at the end of it, in just ONE FUCKING YEAR, is one of the most brought up points when anyone talks about why Aang was as great of Avatar as he was. The thing they are most impressed by. They shouldn't take tha away from his character!
The way she just plants her heel at 00:09 tells me you completely understand her character and fighting style. The way she moved that one guy into the other man's attack was perfect for her! Very well done, the actors sold the choregraphy, and you absolutely get the sense that Toph is listening and waiting for each opening.
The actor was perfect - unfortunately though, so much of that comes down to direction and editing. It wasn’t just the actor who understood the character, it was the whole team. Netflix could (and should) cast this kid, but they could still mess it up with bad writing, or directing, or choreo, or editing

It's a shame that a youtube video does a better representation than a fully licensed/budgeted movie. In the movie, they toss pebbles, in this, they toss BOULDERS.
The movie wasn't bad. It wasn't supposed to be a COVER; EXACT REPLICA. And when they didn't finish up with other movies that should have followed, was a HUGE disappointment to A LOT of people who enjoyed the movie.

As someone who grew up on this show as it originally aired Toph has been one of my favorite fictional characters EVER for my entire life, this was PHENOMENAL 😭🙌 you nailed everything PERFECTLY from the personality to the bending abilities and style. I LOVED how you guys incorporated H2H close quarters attacks INTO the bending sequences! When she grabbed that dude and pulled him into the rising pillar it was SO EPIC. I’d love to see more H2H stuff like that incorporated into these bending fights because It makes it so dynamic and creative! 🙏🏻🙌 can’t wait is we what else this team is capable of

She was even able to levitate the metal body suit with herself still inside it and use it to crawl along the ceiling of the room she was fighting in to reposition herself for a final confrontation. So she does fight hand-to-hand, just with earth or metal around her hands to protect herself and lend more power to her blows.

I learned Matis style for a couple of years, and when I got into Avatar and noticed that Toph was using the same stances I learned earlier, I was so excited. I love that they kept the influence.

That opening scene where she gets into fighting form, that’s the southern fist! I instantly recognize that form. It’s exactly how I used to practice it with my wushu master. Ohh how it brings back memories.
Nicely done! Love the fight! I appreciate that there were not useless flashy movements done in the bending just like in the show. Every movement was to do a thing. Also loved the creativity with the moves! Favorite part was the moving the floor under the guy into the way of the rock. 10/10

I really love the choreography and how you handled Tophs earthbending. It’s never as simple as ‘oh hey, throw a huge rock at the bad guys’ It’s more like she’s subtly shifting her opponents into advantageous positions. As if she’s phycically telling both her opponents and the earth ‘no! I don’t move! You move!’

the end was really funny! The acting got me laughing hard! Good job on that, that actress got the comnedy chops. I love the idea Toph using one inch punch. Idk if it work with her style, but the way you showed it make it feel like she represent her name. Idk about the hand to hand combat part but everything else was pretty much accurate to the show. The exploration concepts were very nice to see.

That opening scene where she gets into fighting form, that’s the southern fist! I instantly recognize that form. It’s exactly how I used to practice it with my wushu master. Ohh how it brings back memories.

The acting and cinematography looks amazing! The bending looks crisp and is coming from somewhere, not just random magical power system.
Nicely done! Love the fight! I appreciate that there were not useless flashy movements done in the bending just like in the show. Every movement was to do a thing.
Also loved the creativity with the moves! Favorite part was the moving the floor under the guy into the way of the rock. 10/10

It’s more like she’s subtly shifting her opponents into advantageous positions. As if she’s phycically telling both her opponents and the earth ‘no! I don’t move! You move!’

the end was really funny! The acting got me laughing hard! Good job on that, that actress got the comnedy chops. I love the idea Toph using one inch punch. Idk if it work with her style, but the way you showed it make it feel like she represent her name. Idk about the hand to hand combat part but everything else was pretty much accurate to the show. The exploration concepts were very nice to see.
