Thanks for the visual.. great info!
Seadoo used to use synthetic gear oil on 2 stroke pumps and at some point switched to grease. I had 2001 rx di and when I bought a 2017 RXP noticed it was grease. I think grease is less messy. Oil requires syringe or some way to fill it, they had a plug on tail cone. I surmise pumps fail from water intrusion, not from type of lube.
I did 70W-80 Mobil 1 gear oil and picked up a consistent 80 RPM on my standalone digital tach. Never fill more than 80%
Yamaha call for their EPNOC grease for the pump cone and marine grease inside the pump, which seems a bit odd. My dealer told me, as the EPNOC was out of stock during COVID, to just use high temp wheel bearing grease as this already has good water resistance. I guess it's very similar to marine grease anyway so it's really much of a muchness.
Oil is easier to clean out if you do munch a bearing??????
Maybe, but degreaser and a clean up with a rag does the job just fine. I'd be concerned about oil leaking if your seal isn't perfect.
@@simonwallace699 If your seal leaking then its not doing its job????? Not really too familiar with jet skis .I just know cleaning grease out of Berkeley jet is horrible.,
