Thank you for a very clear description. You've also given me the option (which didn't occur to me) to just replant the entire thing. I've got a couple of babies on the periphery. One is about 16" tall, way taller than the mother plant, and the rhizomes are pushing out against the sides of the pot, so I definitely will have to take some action in the not too distant future.
Thanks for the information. I browsed about 10 other videos before I came to yours; thank you for actually talking about snake plant pups and not a billion other things. I bought my husband a snake plant yesterday for his office and I purposely picked one that had a pup so I can keep a little one for myself. 😊
Thank God i found your video so everything you said in this video helped me with my snake mother plant so i now i could sell and give away plants plus the 60 other plants i have i just love my plants and like u also metion about getting people who never dealt with plants i think the snake plant is a easy plant anyone could care for so i giving a few to my friends that like plants but ate scare 2 purchase one thank you i now follow your content ..😊
When we moved into this house, there was a huge snake plant on the side. I would like to propagate it but didn’t know where to start. I will try to follow the directions from this video. Wish me luck, this plant is HUGE!
Hey Buddy - Great video! I own an orchid shop in LA and use Sansaveria a LOT in my arrangements. --- For whatever reason - it's SO expensive at the Los Angeles Flower Market where most everything is so cheap (and with my wholesale credentials - better price and no tax - go figure - maybe because it's slow growing??!) Anyhoo - I took the holiday season to start propagating Snake Plant and watching videos/experimenting/etc. I have several "beds" in my backyard to start putting my new pups in - and will hopefully be self sufficient by this time next year! Wish me luck- totally splitting Rhizomes over here LOL
This is my first propagation of my mother plant, she was repotted last spring and has 3 visible pups coming thru. This video was super helpful and super easy to follow. I will be regifting a pup to my mom for mother's day
Your instructions are very clear and pleasantly conversational. Excellent proselytizing - I'll bet you have a very long list of Converts. I know I'm on it!
Your video was very helpful. I was gifted a snake plant a few years ago and it’s got so many babies. Your video makes me feel confident that I can do this!
Love this video. Very informative. My snake plant is fairly small but has 3 babies. Me being new to this I wasn’t sure exactly what to do or how to do it. This helps! Thank you
Thank you so helpful. I have many plants but this is my first divide. I was having a hard time with the cut . But you folks made it look easy . Wish me luck.
Thanks for this. I have a new love of snake plants and just found a pup growing on my whale fin. Very excited. You are right though, I'll have to wait for it to mature some more before separation.
Thank you so much for sharing. I have lots of babies and didn’t know when was the good time to repot it. The only thing I dislike about the video is that , you move the camera too much. It got me very dizzy. Other than that , awesome video. Helped a lot. I will do my reporting tomorrow. I got the courage after watching this video. ❤❤❤
Tacos for the video. I needed to repot/propagate my African Spear. Your video gave me the exact info I needed. I am so addicted to just the growing process!! I love watching my babies grow!!!
Awesome vid! Thanks! I have an older snake plant that was given to me and it’s wildly overgrown its original pot. Was trying to figure out how to divide it up and repot 😊
All I wanted to know was if I should give the pup a good watering once it's been moved to a new pot! 😭 Does a good soak help it recover more quickly from being divided? Or should I leave it dry? (What will help the new roots re-establish themselves the best?)
If they are big enough Yes, Just continue to water as normal. You should also leave in the sun by the window.. I had a small plastic cup near by to cover it for a couple days and it done the trick. If roots aren't established, Root powder works magic, just clean what roots you have and dip into powder + plant, Water like normal 🎉
I found one growing under my bungalow house. I potted a few in a pot because they looked cool. Now, I'm definitely addicted to plants. I love buying discounted pots that have 3 or four different plants in at Walmart that cost $5. And now I have 30 plants from $5.
I recently separated a snake plant from its pups. But I was wondering if I should have let the cut callous over before potting them? I haven't really found any information online
The last time I separated pups from their mother, I didn't wait for them to callous but I did dust the cut a little with rooting hormone before replanting them and that worked great!
I came here bc I love having plants but have no idea how to care for them. I have a snake plant that I bought a few years ago. She has so many babies and I needed to report her. The roots are throughout the soil and I was trying to be so careful. It's good to know that I can cut. I need to learn the very basics.
I have a mother plant sprouting babies in my frog tank. So I want to separate it and use the babies in new tanks. Once you move them over do you need to water or leave dry like you did in the video?
I had a plant with 3 pups, 1 was pushing against the container. So that’s how I found your channel! You need friends!? What about your girl-“friend” ?! lol.. Your Too Cute, Now I have to hit the subscribe button, Just to see what you do next! 😉
I’m not really a plant person, partly because I have a small house with not much space for plants. My daughter keeps buying me plants, however. The snake plant she bought me last Mother’s Day is now jammed tightly into the pot it came in. Time to repot/divide it. My question, after watching your video, is, is there a way to get the starts in the center of their pots, rather than the side? Thanks!
I'm 72 and new to snake plants. Mine has 3 pups. I purchased my snake plant in the fall and now it has babies. I'd like to know if the babies need to have drainage holes. The Mommy doesn't. Also, should each baby be planted separately?
Hi liz from Liverpool uk. I am new yo indoor planrs, but love them already. Have been given a snake plant with babies . I now feel able to propogate. It looks like coconut fifre the plant is in, will it flourish in this ? Thanks.
Thank you for this video House Plant Therapy….you’re exactly right you hit the nail on the head for me. I started collecting my house plants about a year ago. I have 30😊 I purchased a Sansevieria about 3 weeks ago for $20. It had 3 4 inch pups surrounding it. I knew I was going to repot them, 4 sansevieria for $20! Great deal right?! I knew I couldn’t go wrong. This is a gorgeous plant. I just want to make sure I do it correctly. I went online searching for video as a guide. I selected your video. You and your girlfriend done an awesome job. Easy and straightforward. Thank you! Here’s my question keep in mind I am a novice, so the question may sound silly; if I am putting these 4 inch pups in 6 inch pots will they eventually grow into a large house plants like the mother and if so, how long will that take? I’m just curious. I am re-potting into a house plant soil that I have added perlite and warm castings to. I use this mix for all of my house plants that I repot and it’s worked beautifully. I also put a forest moss as a top dressing for all of my plants. What are your thoughts about that? Sorry so long. This is my therapy/ ministry. Thanks again!
Thanks for sharing! I have a large mother plant that has a lot of pups. I want to divide the pups and give them to my daughter. Can I put all the pups together? Or do they have to be in separate pots?
Hi I just divided a pup from the mother before watching your video. Unfortunately I cut the ryzone right off the mother plant and not in the middle. Do you think it will survive?
question what would be the best size pot for snake plant to grow pups, can the plant produce babies in 10cm wide pots or it needs to be larger? Thanks :)
Great video overall just had a few questions. First off you might have explained this but I watched without sound lol, you reported the mother into such a smaller pot with quite the root system I know they wanna be snug but just seemed a tad small? Secondly some people asked do pups planted together do better or singling them out like you did I’m sure is also just fine ?! Thx , I plan to do my first snake plant saving work tonight from a withered plant I got then move into two plants that just need some love and lastly I’ll wait till see how those go before touching my most healthy and a much darker snake plant which is also the biggest and fullest but no noticeable pups o don’t think just lots of large idk what we call them branches or tall growths
Thank you for this video I have 2 pups in my current pot and when I went to replant them I was like omg I can’t take these off. So I plan to go ahead and cut the two pups off tomorrow…I wish I could see what these pups look like now but I know you gave them away
I just bought a huge pot from Walmart... Three mother plants with a dozen pups popping out all in one pot. The plastic pot itself is severely warped due to overcrowding. I'm.... What have I done to myself. I'm here because I didn't know what to do for the pups! 😅 Good to know what I should use cactus/succulent soil instead of my potting/orchid Bark soils.
I have a MASSIVE mother plant I have no idea what to do with and would love some suggestions! I got my mother plant two years ago and it has exploded. I bought it as one of my beginner plants and it has since tripled in size. I potted it in a super big planter. Now that I have more knowledge on plants, I would love to get some pups from the mother plant. How do you suggest I remove the pups since it's so big? It weights probably about 30 lbs (probably around 50 lbs when wet).... I have no idea what to do with it but it's getting huge 😂 taking it out of this huge planter seems impossible. PLEASE HELP 😅 if you have an Instagram I can also send you a picture of it so you can see what we're working with lol
Thank You! I bought my first 2 snake plants one month ago...Now I have pups all over the place so your video was SO timely.
Your plants are beautiful! Your house is beautiful!
Thank you. This is the only video I found about separating the pups from the mother plant so far.
Thank you for sharing this information 🙏.
Same!
Thanks for the information. I browsed about 10 other videos before I came to yours; thank you for actually talking about snake plant pups and not a billion other things. I bought my husband a snake plant yesterday for his office and I purposely picked one that had a pup so I can keep a little one for myself. 😊
Thank you for the great info provided in this vid!
I have a large one with 5 pups and will definitely be using this method.
Thanks for sharing, the video has giving me the confidence I needed with propagating my snake plants 👍
Thank you I was wondering what them thick looking root things were lol they are new plants growing in!!
Thank you. I didn't know how to separate the babies from the mother plant. I just did it, wish me luck lol
Totes subbed!! Yes houseplants r addicting!! I do succulents due to my lifestyle.
When we moved into this house, there was a huge snake plant on the side. I would like to propagate it but didn’t know where to start. I will try to follow the directions from this video. Wish me luck, this plant is HUGE!
Your demo put me at ease about reporting my snake plant. Thanks
What about watering them right after repotting?
Thank you for your instruction, I do have a couple of snakes plants that had many pups to propagate, as for houseplants I do have many. 😊

Thanks for the great informative video! I’m squeamish about cutting those rhizomes, but you made it look easy! Off to propagate my huge snake plant!
Well, get outta town fellow Minnesotan!😊👏🏻
I have a mother plant with several pups that are getting very large. This video helped alot!!
Thanks so much! My Snake plants are huge and I'm finally gonna try to let the pups have new homes. GREAT video!
You very good at explaining things

I’ve got an office plant I take care of that’s got pups. Separating them now as I watch, thanks for the help!
Thanks for the straightforward content. Loved it and just subscribed.
Going to separate my pups today. This video makes it look simple :)
Your video was very helpful. I was gifted a snake plant a few years ago and it’s got so many babies.
Your video makes me feel confident that I can do this!
Hello this video was helpful thank you. My husband bought me a snake plant and it has a pup
Growing on the side 😍
Love this video. Very informative. My snake plant is fairly small but has 3 babies. Me being new to this I wasn’t sure exactly what to do or how to do it. This helps! Thank you

Going to do this. Love house plants especially palms. Love the tropical feel
The snake plant don't like to be alone, it's always good to put 2 or 3 snake plant minimum in the pot.
So helpful, thank you ❤ this is exciting time 3 babies in my pot 🎉 trying to figure out how to do this, and this video helped
Tacos for the video. I needed to repot/propagate my African Spear. Your video gave me the exact info I needed. I am so addicted to just the growing process!! I love watching my babies grow!!!
Looks so easy! I have a ton of babies! But the mother plant got sick so it’s time to propagate!
Thank you for easy tips to separate the babies!
I have just decided 2 pups into separate ponts let's see ur video is great help
Awesome vid! Thanks! I have an older snake plant that was given to me and it’s wildly overgrown its original pot. Was trying to figure out how to divide it up and repot 😊
Thanks for the helpful video. Should I water the babies and momma plant after repotting?

The roots are throughout the soil and I was trying to be so careful. It's good to know that I can cut. I need to learn the very basics.
I was under the impression that separated pups (and the parent) needed to callus over before repotting.
Is this not the case here?
I don’t have a snake plant yet but my mom does and I want to know how to take a cutting from it. Thank you. I love house planes!
Really helpful, thank you
I have a mother plant sprouting babies in my frog tank. So I want to separate it and use the babies in new tanks. Once you move them over do you need to water or leave dry like you did in the video?
Exactly what I need 😊
Thanks, just getting ready to separate two pups to have small ones in bedrooms as I read they are good for people with allergies.
I had a plant with 3 pups, 1 was pushing against the container. So that’s how I found your channel! You need friends!? What about your girl-“friend” ?! lol.. Your Too Cute, Now I have to hit the subscribe button, Just to see what you do next! 😉
Thank you for the video I noticed you didn't order the mother or any of the baby plants. Is that something that should be done after repotting
Thank you for this video. 👍🏼

I did a leaf cutting, was researching how to plant its beautiful new growth
You just got a new subscriber :)
You guys should talk about the benefits of having snake plants.
I'm 72 and new to snake plants. Mine has 3 pups. I purchased my snake plant in the fall and now it has babies. I'd like to know if the babies need to have drainage holes. The Mommy doesn't. Also, should each baby be planted separately?

That's a lot of soft fiber to use.
Hi I just divided a pup from the mother before watching your video. Unfortunately I cut the ryzone right off the mother plant and not in the middle. Do you think it will survive?

Whats that green mat called that you have folded up in the corners? Nice way to keep everything tidy

So, what would happen if you re-potted these in regular pot soil instead of the recommended one. Would it die?
I sale house plants for a side hustle and the snake plants I always have a waiting list. Especially the Moonshine Snake
Where did you get that tarp like item you used to transplant?
What’s that thing called u used to pour the soil into
I have a snake plant for the last 2 years and is 3-4 ft tall and would love too repot its babies since there are more than a dozen of them

Whale fin plant, I like do you have some in your home 😊
I propped my snake plant leaves and have 3 pups now. Does this method still apply?
Can you put 2 babies in one pot?
Looking to buy more snake plants
