I just wanted to let you know that Rosalía majored in Flamenco :) she literally spent 5 years learning flamenco as a college degree in one of the best music schools of Spain, with Chiqui de la Linea, a flamenco expert who tutored her since she was 14 and only accepts one student per year... Her first album "El Mal Querer" was actually Rosalía's final thesis, and she graduated with honors thanks to it! She is really talented but has also worked very very hard to be where she is!

You will hear in her voice the vocal acrobatics and style that comes from parts of India, the Middle East and which flowed into and really developed in the Andalusian region of southern Spain in the 17th-18th centuries,, particularly from the Roma people, who were pejoratively called gypsies. Read more about flamenco in wikipedia's, etc. (I may have gotten some details wrong.) Rosalia does some of her pop stuff with mixes of flamenco and pop or trap or reggaeton. A lot of her songs are all different from one another and very original. But she was trained big time in the various types of music within flamenco.
