Let me tell ya, by far the most difficult and time-consuming one to date
it for sure is awesome. great job as always!
The hard work paid off, this was amazing!
I hope you can somehow use it for extra credit somewhere. Or as a yearprojectthingy
It sure sounds like that, great effort
Still it is awesome and thanks for what you did.
I really appreciate that you didn't stop with the main well-known part and kept going with the rest. Wondrous work.
Is this a pun on the original name of the track, "Harry's wondrous world"?
@@fikradas Ha ha! Yes it is!
I know all the parts because of arry Potter in 100 seconds
Those violin runs seem like an absolute nightmare to pull off right
Edit: I FORGOT THE CELESTA
@Phumgwate Nagala you can also record your entire face, showing that you're not using a midi device to control your voice
I’ve had to play that celesta part a couple times with an orchestra and I can confirm that it is a nightmare to pull off right even on a celesta, nevermind the voice
Now imagine half sight-reading the whole thing (Source: I have played this on violin with very little notice)
Matt: "I wanna play in an orchestra"
his mom: "no, we don't have money for instruments and orchestra kids are weird"
Matt: "not a problem"
I mean, why wanting to play in an orchestra when you can BE the orchestra, right? B-)
I have a small feeling this guy is a band kid…
Ain’t nothing wrong with that tho those kids are epic
Same as “We have an orchestra at home”
"I am the orchestra"
Very impressive - truly a masterpiece, as all of your work! This looks like it took many hours… days… weeks… months?
12 to be exact
E
Hours days weeks or months?
@@DO0DL3R-YT yes
@@DO0DL3R-YT i don't think he can do even 1/4 of that in 12 weeks.
2:44 I CAN LITERALLY HEAR THE VIOLINS BUT THEY'RE NOT VIOLINS, THAT'S SO COOL
what on EARTH?! this just popped up in my recommendation and I absolutely cant believe my ears?! I have NEVER seen anything like this. All the little accents and violin runs were just spot on. Literally watched this for 5 minutes in awe with my mouth wide open. Please please go viral dude, you really deserve the recognition. Freaking phenomenal wtf
Welcome! I hope you enjoyed his other videos and this one as much as I have.
@@aslpuppy1026 Thanks! Undoubtedly
I liked the part where he sang “Pam”.
No, in all seriousness, this was absolutely phenomenally done and we all probably can’t remotely guesstimate the amount of work you’ve put into this. Hedwig’s theme might just be my favourite filmtheme and it is so recognisable. I don’t comment often but I just wanted to let you know I really loved it and that you did incredibly well.
indeed.
I can't agree more.
As a violinist the violin part is hilariously extremely accurate that looks extremely hard putting that all together. Bravo!
Edit: while watching I was looking forward to how you were going to do the violin parts. It came out very good. First video I've watched by you definitely subbing.
That violin part is horrible string writing. It's not just predictable diatonic or chromatic scales that you practice everyday. It keeps on changing between runs with random, unexpected accidentals and broken/chords that don't fit in comfortably in a single position and then has some quick trills just to trip you up even more. Definitely was not written by a violinist. The worst thing is that is it usually comes up in a pops programme where you might be lucky to run through a piece twice in rehearsals. Definitely a case of fake it until you make it.
@@maniamuse1319 Those are some bold words when speaking about John Williams,
otherwise generally concidered among the greatest composers in the history of cinema.
@@fiskfisk33 I didn't say that he was a bad composer, I just said as a violinist with 30 years of experience that it is horrible string writing. Rimsky-Korsakov who wrote the book on orchestration would probably agree. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a bit of sampled strings layered over the top of that cue in reality. To be fair John Williams isn't usually responsible for writing every single note played by every single instrument in the orchestra that you hear in a 'John Williams' score. He sketches parts and musical events/timings at the piano on 2-6 staves which get passed to a team of assistants/copyists though in the later part of his career those copyists turned more into arrangers and orchestrators in their own right working from a John Williams 'style guide' to some extent.
@@maniamuse1319Williams writes sixteen line sketches including almost all of the orchestration and detail. In recent years, these have gone straight to the copyists with no need for the intervention of an orchestrator (although he does on occasion use Bill Ross if required). The 'team of assistants/copyists turning into arrangers and orchestrators' is nonsense.
Same, the violin in this theme is notoriously insane. Which I believe is completely intentional. Not being predictable and a bit random, gives it that mysterious, illusive and haphazard quality that this kind of quirky magic needs. Naturally that comes at a cost to the players, but John Williams was willing for them to pay that ;p
2:33 Bassoon 2 was just like, "This one, maybe? Perhaps?" Gotta love it 🤣
This is an accurate representation of what bassoonists look like when we’ve not been counting rests
Even as a soprano, I can feel my vocal chords shred themselves the longer this video goes on 💀
Though, he does state that he sometimes pitch-shifts his voice to match the orchestra's range
But yeah, this is still amazing and puts pain on my vocal chords just by listening to it lol
(sorry that this is 2 years late)
This is creepy as heck, in the best way. Dude. This is impressive.
i'm not gonna lie, you are the kind of hero that no one asked for, but "Everyone" needed.
oh god
people are like "how long did this take???"
i KNOW how long this took and it makes me exhausted just thinking about it
Hello verified!
When the world needed most, he RETURNED
0:50 Oh my god the jumping he had to do to get those top voices right, with the pitch is insane, having done a cappella myself, I have MAD respect for the amount of time this took... not to mention the editing!
Dude mixing the vocals to align with the texture of the respective instruments, mad genius!
Some one should make the entire film with himself playing all the roles using you for all music and someone for all voices!
Seeing you smile while you sing because you enjoy it is by far the best part of the video.
Second best part is even the editing and the music.
My brain can hardly follow these infamous string runs normally... let alone singing them?
Amazing work.
This is just an insane amount of time and effort. Most people with this much talent don't have the patience to follow through to the end of a project like this. Well done.
I dare anyone to point to a current film composer who can match John Williams's level of orchestration intricacy.
It might be a stretch, but I say John Powell is pretty good, I mean, have you heard the How to Train Your Dragon theme?
@@SCPguy-06 my first thought exactly
Actually a lot, John Williams is one of the first to be this elaborate in soundtracks but he mostly keeps to a classic orchestra setting while a lot of younger composers are much more experimental in the instruments (and quantity of those, John powell used 12 horns for how to train your dragon) they use
Test drive from httyd is so good not to describe
Howard Shore, Jeremy Soule. Okay Soule does games, but still
This is way impressive. What a huge vocal range! Well done keeping it so accurate, especially at the extreme ends of the orchestra - fantastic work! 👏
Yeah, not his vocal range. This is all very clearly modified with software.
and tha t is totally fine - he's upfront about the fact that he octave shifts it. its still insanely impressive, just within human capability
Upper string parts go crazy, nice work!
👍 I can imagine John Williams would be just tickled by this! Nice work!
Insane! Those string parts... And the 1st horn is just playing a long note 😂
Incredible work, and an amazing testament to the genius of John Williams as a composer, arranger and orchestrator!
as someone who has worked on things like this i can feel myself going crazy just listening to this and imagining the time it must've taken. Great job and i hope you're proud of it, sounds amazing!
Amazing! What a pity these beautiful leitmotifs weren't used in the later films
Matthew, you are awesome. Not only do I appreciate the effort you've put in, but you've given me an understanding and appreciation for John Williams' music and orchestration with all of your videos. Thanks :-)
Not even I got the mentality to make something like this, that's respect, sir.
So glad you and your clones are back!!
This is what I think I sound like singing along to this song in the car
so proud to be a violist right now. the entirething looks like long notes/shadowing the other upper strings
This is just on a whole other level... I have no words
The guy in the black shirt has such an amazing voice!
the legend is back!
Bro doesn’t need an orchestra he is the orchestra
He is back!!!!
This is a "the universe works in mysterious ways" moment. I just did a whole songwriting and development class project using this song.
Came for the fast strings, not disappointed in the slightest, 10/10
It's both beatiful and horrific, so many faces staring at me
When the world needed him the most he returned
Great as always, we now only need to clone you 100 times to make a choir for Williams, and maybe clone Williams too he may not be still there by the time the clones are ready
May I suggest the theme from Obi-Wan, Williams' last work, as your next undertaking?
The legend has returned
I don’t think he ever quit RUclips, these videos just take that long to produce
So underrated! People who can do this are always so impressive!
You’re a wizard, Matthew.
I love how the violas just look like they’re freeking out
Absolutely phenomenal! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 You deserve so much more credit for this; it's not just the amounts of work that's gone into it, it's the quality of it that's so impressive! The dynamics are incredible, as too are all the levels of the intricate harmonies. Bravo 🙌🏼
Seriously one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen.
im a guy who is also descant in choir, and YOUR VOCAL RANGE!??!? OMG
those were some of the most INTENSE goosebumps and chills i have ever had!
EVERY SINGLE POTTER HEAD NEEDS TO SEE THISSS!!!
This is great!!! Goosebumps on every music I hear from your version. Keep it up!!!
The goat returns with a Hogwarts acceptance letter
This is absolutely crazy...
Still waiting for Pirates of the Caribbean 😁
Matthew: “Imagine what I can do with a million of me”
….
Few moment later: Harry Potter original theme
😈
This was insanely intricate! You are incredibly talented!
You deserve so many more views and subscribers for this!! Incredible effort and so well put together. Bravo!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow, just magic! Can’t begin to imagine the time that went into it, and love it’s the full version!!
This was an amazing project! Congrats Matthew!
I started to watch this and thought how funny it was, then all of a sudden the technical side of it hit me smack in the face, then it wasn't so funny anymore. This is Totally Brilliant. Very well done fella!!
This is what the prefects are doing when they're busy sending students back to their dormitories after dark.
Jeez these violins runs tho, absolute nightmare. Props to you man, I would have quit after reading the celesta and violin parts of the first theme lmao
This must've taken so much time and effort and it definitely shows, here before this blows up lol
The level of commitment frightens even the Dark Lord.
THE LEGEND IS BACK!!!!!
This is truly amazing and has made my day better
I came just to hear the violin runs at the beginning and was not disappointed
The man himself is back for more.
The return of the king. Great job bro
those low notes in the bass and tuba… perfection! this was so well done! the amount of dedication you put in this shows!
"Yea, I read sheet music..."
"Oh so, What instrument do you play then?"
If this doesn’t go viral then the internet is broken
You are the best, WOW
HE'S BACK!!!
Cornelius: What are you listening to?
Me: Noise, noise, noise.
Outstanding hard work. World class.
What? How! This must have taken you ages!
My fav is his solo part. Impeccable 👌🏼
This is in myoppinon the best video of yours to date. Wow!
It’s magical 🧙♂️
Magic at its finest!
I LOVE IT its so cool to hear all the instruments as voices
You deserve a mansion in Heaven for work like this.
Congrats I can imagine it’s a huge work to do that kind of masterpiece
This is incredible! Love ya work!
It's magnific, like every times. Continu like that. Big up. I'm Ur best french's fan.
Ps: sorry for my english, i'm french ^^
I loved the sad faces for the D#/Eb and C#/Db not used in the celesta part haha
This is the organized chaos I aspire my life to be
Damn, dude, that’s great!
I'm seeing this video in millions in couple of years
this is amazing and i love the layout of the "instruments"
also welcome back to uploading youtube videos!
Now I can die peacefully
Just amazing work

My brain at 4am, when I'm still struggling to fall asleep:

Listen how much better everything sounds once the "trombones & tuba" come in
Absolute masterclass
