The great Jimmy Johnson...oh Lord. I once received in Rio, Copacabana, where I lived many years, in 1992, a full roster/kit by mailing address with a black-&-white press photo of him, as well as news pages and flyers telling how good Jimmy is, as well as his BAR ROOM PREACHER cd. Steve Heath, his manager, even sent to me a full contract and I felt like a veteran entertainment producer, wich actually I never was, just an obscure Rio rock/R&B bassist and composer. I tried hard to bring him to a Rio trip and almost finished matters with a bar in Rio, in a place called Lagoa, very near Ipanema, where I intended to make him play three-night sets Friday, Saturday, Sunday but promoter there (Lagoa's club) gave up and negotiations ended as abruptly as they started. I guess they here feared because Johnson was very unknown here. I knew he went in 2014 to a mini-Brazil tour. He's a big tasteful player and great singer, Syl Johnson is his brother, the famous soul singer.
Best of the blues. Keep on keepin on J J. Great to see jamming with Dave also. Made my ody day a lot more sunny. C you soon. Dunno how I missed this.(Pathetic to miss your gigs..)
