- This is the theme to TBS' broadcasts of Atlanta Braves baseball from 1996 to some time in 2003. The name of the composition is "Checkmate" (why is beyond me), and if you'd like to license it, here's the link:

I played this nice and loud the morning after we won the 2021 World Series. Go Braves!
Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz dominating on the mound. Chipper hitting dingers. Skip, Pete, Don and Joe calling the action. Those were the days.
Ahhhh
14 National League East titles
5 National League championships
1995 World Series champions
Aaahh. Nostalgia boner. We moved into our 1st house, me sitting on our living room floor 1st night with the tv on the floor and me adjusting the antenna and the brightness on our poor, dated black and white to watch the braves. BRAVES WIN BRAVES WIN!!
Beautiful sounds along with skips Comments about Joe and don hair lmao
I used to watch them in the early 80s when they sucked and it seemed like Zane Smith and Rick Mahler pitched every game !
2021 World Series Champions Atlanta Braves.
And they won the pennant on TBS!!
As a Cleveland Indians fan the 1995 World Series still smarts. Iconic theme probably best sports television theme.
who's here after we finally brought it back home in 2021
Me...and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
Me Born and raised Atlantian
Foreal FINALLY! It’s felt like forever! 80’s Grady Baby Zone 3 FILA
Indians fan but i enjoyed watching the Braves on TBS. You guys spanked us in the 95 world series. All time great pitching staff.
Not even a Braves fan but listening to this brings back great memories.
Even as a Mets fan, I always enjoyed the Braves broadcasts on TBS. Their baseball coverage is almost unrecognizable now :(
RIP Pete van Wieren & Skip Caray :(
Maybe not up to par as it use to be,but that was a special group.
Chip Caray,Jeff Francouer,Joe Simpson,Tom Glavine,Paul Byrd...it can be a lot worse.
As a Cubs fan, I also enjoyed the Braves games on TBS. Harry Caray on WGN and Skip on TBS.
Don Sutton now
@@davidtimms3201 I wished that we got a dual broadcast of a cubs-braves game in 1998 with the 3 carays on the mike.
GanbaMagus you forgot Ernie Johnson
As far as I'm concerned, this is the theme for the Montréal Expos, because I watched every game I could on TBS.
Wow!!!! The chills!!! An iconic song for an iconic team in that era
Yankees fan here but I always enjoyed watching the braves on tbs as a kid
Remember watching Braves games with my Grandma
Same here. I’d fall asleep at grandmas house with the game on if they were playing on the west coast.
Durrell Hartsfield me too not only the Braves but also the Cubs and Mets……for a while she had WWOR out of New York……I hope you will reply to this
2021 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS BABY!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m not a Braves fan, but this theme makes me miss those days in the late 90s/early 2000s of catching Braves games on TBS.
I wish they would play this for the braves in the 2021 nlcs on tbs. We would definitely win!
They didn’t play this song but I got vibes after that last out. Congrats and good luck against Houston in the World Series.
Always and forever a Giants fan but man i did love watching the Braves in the 90's after getting home from school :)
A lot of Giants fans "adopted" the '91 Braves.
@@brianoneill7186 I wonder why...🤔
@@smill1985 The Giants didn't have a good year, but with the Braves on TBS, 'neutral' fans followed them in the pennant race. It worked out that the Giants helped the Braves by beating the Dodgers twice on the final weekend, as the Braves beat Houston twice to clinch.
@@brianoneill7186 OK. Makes sense. Thanks Brian! 👍
Loved watching the Braves on the Superstation in the 1990s with Skip, Joe and Don. It was great watching the road games and seeing all of the Braves fans.
TBS probably stood for The Braves Station back then.
@@rockvilleraven Turner Broadcasting System, actually.
@@LogoMan7777 Right but I think he/she was being sarcastic. 😉
Don't forget Pete Van Wieren!
I miss the tbs days ! we had a real good run! miss that!
Hello everyone along with Ernie Johnson, Skip Carey welcome to another night of Atlanta Braves baseball.
Brings back memories when I really followed the Braves and baseball in general. I also liked the theme TBS played when they announced batting order during that time
God Bless you for this upload
I use to love the Braves as a kid. They were the 90s version of the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Miss my Atlanta Braves on TBS, this will always have a special place in my heart Go Braves
Same here!
Same here we need it back idk somehow just like everything someone will bring it back
I bet it was titled Checkmate as in "Game over I Win" due to the fact the Braves just did that finally winning the Series the season prior.
Leading off for the Braves tonight will be Michael Tucker and Eddie Perez catching tonight in relief of Javy Lopez.
I didn’t care for the Braves in this era (I was a Cardinals fan), but I did like their broadcasting team, and they weren’t afraid to call out the Braves for sloppy play. They also were very complimentary of opposing teams that played them and said “even though the Braves are playing well, don’t take these games for granted.”
reason i became Braves fan as kid. Thank you tbs. 🤙
Oh... that's what daddy was looking for. My 1995 memories...
It sucks that TBS came more of a traditional basic cable network instead of a superstation back in the 2000s. When it was a superstation it was one of the top 5 networks in America because it was both a broadcast network in Atlanta and a cable network in the rest of the network like WGN Superstation was before it became WGN America. It was so cool to follow one baseball team on a big network all season long. TBS was better off keeping the Braves games instead of broadcasting the whole league during the regular season. TBS should really think about investing back into Braves baseball it would be huge for their network. It sucks too that we don't have the Cubs on WGN nationwide anymore or the Mets on WWOR. Everything is on cable exclusively and that sucks. We were lucky to be around back in the 90s.
Born and raised ATL 2021 now Baby!
I was born at Crawford Long in ATL
I remember the year after they won the World Series in 95 the intro had Skip saying "He is the best folks he is the best got him/That ball is gone a home run for Chipper Jones/The Atlanta Braves have brought the first championship to Atlanta" .
WE WON AGAIN FOLKS
DON'T PLAY THAT OLD BUSTED SEMINOLE CHANT, PLAY THIS ABSOLUTE BANGER INSTEAD
Edd Kalehoff would want royalties. LOL
This song is the theme song of champions ✨🔥
Brings back memories
Yep Braves and TBS was like toys and Toys R US
it just simply went together
I was born in Atlanta, now live in CA..makes me want to go to GA to see my family and ask my cousin, Alan, if I could go to a ball game..maybe when the SF Giants are in GA and see the Giants get whooped!
My cousin, Alan, has season tickets
Certified banger
You are the best for posting this!!!!
1999 nostalgia watching the games with my Granddaddy.
My childhood was lit
America's Team!!
They should’ve made this the mlb on Tbs good evening on this beautiful July Friday night from the ballparks
Who's here playing this after the Braves won the series this year in 2021
At long last the Braves are once again World Series Champions and my childhood has returned as well.
1995: It was the Trio. A defensive team.
2021: It was our bats/offense. H, SB, RBI, HR, OBP, BB,
Which one was better? I can't pick. I like them both.
One of the best. When they went national
Can you find the 70s and 80s version. Those were just as good!
I don't have those.
On repeat. #WorldChamps
Better times
after wcw saturday night in the 1990s u will hear it
Braves were better when they were owned by turner rather than liberty media
I think this ended in 2003.
I wish I could find the one they used after this one and the one they used before.
After that was probably the end of Cable superstatons, WGN is now WGN America except in Chicago, Channel 17 in Atlanta is now independent Peachtree TV and TBS is just a basic cable network.
@@rockvilleraven TBS continued to show the Braves until 2007, but they reduced the number of games every year over the last 10-15 years.
Brian O'Neill now the only way the Braves are on TBS is if they are playing the Dodgers or Cubs. TBS really has focused its MLB coverage at least during the regular season on the Yankees and Red Sox in recent years to the point in which either one of them are on TBS every Sunday.
@@chrisguardiano6143 TBS's baseball deal is garbage. Same handful of teams, in a terrible time slot for anyone outside the Northeast...where those telecasts are blacked out, anyway.
