The Treeman fighting the Giant felt like an old man whacking a toddler EDIT: OH GOD THAT POOR BAT, IT GOT SWATTED LIKE A HAMSTER. THE TREEMAN FUCKING REELED IT'S BAT AND WHALLOPED
Gotta say, wasn't expecting that result... dunno what it is about them, but, to me, Treemen have always seemed pretty 'mid' so far as SEMs go - guess ol' Treebeard here done proved me wrong!
They are mediocre. They hit hard but are slow AF. Much less utility around the battlefield and it's also an easy target. A forced 1v1 isn't representative of anything. The flying and fast monsters are much, much better in a normal context. Especially the Vargulf. The regen, speed and mass makes it a one man wrecking ball. It's not a duelist but if you had let it use all of its regen cap it would have won all of these matchups.
The high melee defence and attack of the treemen is what sets them a cut above the rest here. As the battle progresses, the monsters designed to be infantry squashers with fairly low melee attack will just find it impossible to even hit the treeman.
I have nothing to base this on Just vibes I *FEEL* like the Frost Wyrm was made by just taking the Cathay Dragon or Coatl, stapling it to the ground, which means it is bringing flying melee jank to grounded combat, with the added layer of those particular models being extra janky.
These aren't entirely representative of each unit's strengths. A stegadon isn't meant to be in sustained melee, rather cycle charging and using its ammo. Properly microed it would have won against the treeman, and honestly the fact it inflicted that much damage despite their massive melee stats difference is a testimony to the beast it is. (Yes I play Lizardmen 😅)
@@darthplagueis13 That wasn't a real stager, it was a linked animation. 2 where the giant "wins" the animation happen at 3:57. The headbut from the giant is also a linked animation. Winning the animation doesn't actually mean they win the damage roll off. You can see at 3:16 the treeman "wins" the animation but both take damage.
The stegodom got to the semi finals due to their missile damage, weapon damage seems to have lower impact in duels than the devs expected, so the giant and others feel underwhelming
Agree For monster duels, animations are easily the most important feature. The giant, for example, by stats SHOULD do a lot better in these kinds of tests, but his animations are long, and his stagger resistance is nearly nonexistent. Just in the Giant vs Treeman fight here, had the giant been RNG manipulated to only do the headbutt, he would have probably won without taking more than one or two hits, but if he was RNG manipulated to do only the big swing, he would have lost without landing more than one or two hits. Pretty much the only broad exceptions to this are the monsters that actually have specialized dueling animations for eachother, where the fixed animation interactions kinda flatten those results.
Hi, can you check if khorngors, spear ungors and antilarge bestigors have bracing animation? Also if giant slayers, Ungrim and Gotrek have death blow animations?
yea well, put vampire or nercomancer behind and heal it, sure, but stegadon can have life-slann or oracle and treeman -> life spellsinger do exactly the same

The Treeman took it personally against the giant cause the club used to be his brother.
lol

It is because how how slow they are, which is exactly what these duels do not punish. This is an ideal set-up for treemen.

How the lord of change kick that mammoth ass!! Super impressed
You know you suck when your opponent is regenerating barrier in melee.
I forgot frost wyrms existed cuz I never see them in any video lol
frost wyrm is so buggy
Aye. It's those damn turns...
Tbf it's definitely better suited for infantry blobs with those big aoe attacks
I have nothing to base this on
Just vibes

@@aprinnyonbreak1290 For me it's more like a prototype for the eventual implementation of the Shard Dragon.
Looks alright to me
Thank you for the tournament chart!
Seems like there's an animation match up happening along side other more obvious match up advantages.
That’s one of my biggest gripes about the game. Sometimes entities just REFUSE to attack while eating blow after blow. It’s infuriating.
I really thought that steg had this in the bag, kinda shocked the treeman did it and that the giant did so poorly.
the frost wyrm is so cool, ive actually never seen it lol
Chad treeman

Haven't watched yet, but gonna guess giant. They're insanely cost effective in melee to compensate for their vulnerability to missiles.
Well, never mind. I forgot how bad their get staggered against things their own size.

yeah fighting a giant with similarly large monsters often feels like bullying given how much they get literaly pushed around

Their melee stats aren't that great, but the skinks throwing javelins don't care about that.
Agree

Bro sent his ass at 12:44
what???????????
I didn't expect it at all
Beaten by a tree...
If you add the great unclean he loose paying 300-400 more gold and maybe the treeman can win the toad dragón
tbh i excepted that final but i felt if stegadon used it's speed to use up all its artillary ammo it might have won

god the vargulf is cute.
I am groot
the treeman has do be bugged no way he takes 0 dmg vs the Varghulf
varghulf would do much better in a realistic battle since it's a unit made considering the fact that it can be healed
yea well, put vampire or nercomancer behind and heal it, sure, but stegadon can have life-slann or oracle and treeman -> life spellsinger do exactly the same
Yeah the smelly skelly boys tend to underperform in these sort of tests because of that.
And that isn’t Even the lord version
The hell is that thumbnail
No way the fate weaver beat the mammoth with the amount of times it got smacked
