I like this fight because it show's the reverse of what usually happens which is sentry calming the hulk down, This time it's the hulk calming the sentry down and telling him he chooses his own path whether that be as the Void or the Sentry, this is why Robert said "thank you" to hulk before passing out it's cool to see when writers go back into the original things with sentry but it doesn't happen as often as it should.

Just a reminder that sentry has a calming aura (hulk has a slower power build up around him), sentry is one of his true friends (lowest incentive to fight) and his base power is stupid high so he's able to engage this fight but both technically have unlimited power caps.
In other words, Bruce's best friend let him vent to calm him down, and was the only reason everyone didn't die.
And Bruce was the only one standing at the end of the fight, now imagine if it was against the void who has a rage Aura

Sentry's calming aura wasn't affecting this version of the Hulk. He also didn't have access to his full power at the time, as only the Merged Sentry can access everything. Bruce was standing at the end of the fight because Sentry's powers are self-actualized, which means Hulk convincing Sentry to choose to be Robert again made him a normal man for just a moment. Without that, Hulk really would have died.
Mind you, this is coming from a diehard Hulk fan. I'm not at all selling Hulk short here. He just genuinely wouldn't be able to take the full might of Sentry, even as the Worldbreaker. That's how overpowered Sentry was.

During the run it was showed and explained that Sentrys energy was calming Hulk but in the end Sentry cut lose, becouse he needed to do it for his own sanity. Hulk was just as much a punching bag for sentry as sentry was for him. Hulk won that fight fair and square no doubts about it.

It really is a testament to Hulk's strength and resilience, that the sentry (who is basically marvels superman) admits that Hulk is the only one who can take his punches at full strength.
The irony of course being that this *wasn't* Sentry's full power. This was before he truly understood the nature of himself and his abilities. He'd yet to realize his powers were very similar to (but far beyond) those of Molecule Man, nor had he yet learned to accept the Void.

@@jamesjohnson8544 Sentry to me actually has a far greater resemblance to Scion from Worm. Although Sentry came first last time I checked so it's more like Scion resembles Sentry. But they're remarkably similar, what with the golden aura, the ridiculous power, the lasers, the mental issues. Hell, they even LOOK similar!

They gave Hulk a clear victory.
While also making it clear that Sentry had more he could give. Even when he was busting out a fire tornado that seemed to match or surpass Johnny's max fire output (I think, I haven't really seen much for the F4 and Johnny Storm on his own). And from what I remember, firepower is what sentry uses the least
I didn't see a clear Hulk victory at all. I saw Bruce able to reach Robert and talk him down at the end with the "it's your choice" speech. It was basically a draw in my eyes. Sentry could have kept going forever if he wanted to.

To be fair, Sentry stopped mentally holding back and then only asked to be bashed. His unleashed power (He didn't unleash the million exploding suns, maybe less that a millionth of one exploding sun) was too much for him to do anything without destroying way more than he was comfortable with so he felt the need to be stopped

We all get it...comic book characters are so OP'd and the Sentry is no exception. Think about the power of a "million exploding suns" going off at one point here on Earth. It's almost unfathomable to contemplate. Our entire solar system would be vaporized to nothing in an instant. Sometimes they go overboard with power levels and expect the Earth to remain intact.
It's still cool though! lol
Well basically they equate him to a star going Super Nova. So yes, vaporized.
Yea and also they have beings who can destroy sentry with just there thoughts so he’s not even that powerful foreal! And also the fact that hulk was taking the power of a million exploding suns like it was nothing!!
End of the day Thor, Sentry, Hulk or any of the heavy handed guys shouldn't be able to fight each other without accidentally putting earth out of orbit. It creates this really weird effect in which all of their supposed power levels end up looking like mindless wanking since these 2 are supposed "planet busters" that struggle to even raze a city by having an all out fight. But as you said just comic things.

Yup, that's them just trying to keep things going and exceeding power levels a lot of the time which I get but it's ridiculous. Reminds me of early DBZ when Goku vs Vegeta at one of their weakest iterations shook the Earth battling, powering up, but in later iterations they should be able to destroy part of the planet with how strong they are going all out. And it's even worse in comics.

In Heart of the Monster Hulk and Banner learned how to begin tapping into those insane levels of rage without cracking Earth in half with a foot step. Hell, the ambient gamma energy spiking off his body in his groundhog day fight with Betty was shattering the planet they were on along with its moon, over and over again. Put simply, there is basically never a time Hulk isn't holding back because otherwise everything just dies, especially when his reality warping begins kicking in with his rage twisting the world around him. Hulk has fixed friggin time lines before just by punching a time machine hard enough, his rage at wanting things to be normal made it so. Or the time he punched a barrier made out of anti matter, only for his rage to cause the energy shield to shatter like glass. Or the time he held matter and anti matter apart. Or or or..... honestly the Sentry fanboy comments for this video just shows a complete lack of knowledge of Comic Hulk and just how scary he is when the limiters start coming off.

He's got a *lot* of absolutely ridiculous powers, some of which make him a universal, if not multiversal threat when fully unleashed. To put it in perspective; Sentry has Molecular Man's powers as well, but they're even more potent. Note that Molecular Man is on a level where he could, in Galactus's own words, destroy the entity with a mere thought. He fought and defeated the Beyonder in a multi-dimensional (dimensional in the physics sense, not just in the multiversal sense) battle on a level of reality where not even the abstract beings, such Death, Infinity, and Eternity, hold sway. Molecular Man also possesses full blown reality manipulation at a level much higher than that of Franklin Richards.
Where Sentry's fans seem to miss the boat is how his mental instability impacts his ability to access these powers. There's no telling whether or not Merged Sentry was capable of utilizing them, but we do know he wasn't *shown* using most of them. This is the key difference: Sentry is indisputably more powerful than the Hulk, but the Hulk (and Banner) is able to control his power quite effectively. Moreover, the Sentry's powers are based at least in part on self-actualization, which means his emotional state influences not just what is accessible but how much power the Sentry can wield at any given time.
By far one of the most epic things I've ever read in a while.

I love that, at the end of the fight, it wasn't grandiose martial arts or anything. They were two exhausted gods, their hands wrapped in each other's hair, pounding each other's faces in with all the might they had left. Bad. Ass.
Man, it's such a shame Sentry's always been so under-utilized as a character. Like sure, i get it, it is a challenge to write a story about a character where you have to nerf/actively retcon him into facing a challenge (yes, King in Black, i remember you and your bullshit retcon of Sentry's best character development in a decade, and yes, i am bitter about that one). But shit, Superman's OP, and he's had a fuckton of good stories over decades.
Superman is wildly known so obviously he's gonna have tons of stories, an example would be a good TV show like Sparatacus was canceled while family guy is still on...
Donny Cates's mind really went blank when he was writing The Sentry in King in Black lbvs. A tragedy tbh.

I feel like Knull ripping Sentry is realistic and just something you guys have to deal with. Knull is capable of killing Celestials and then you have Gorr who became an entire deadly universe using Knull's All Black. Sentry is OP but I'd say that Knull is over him and most other base heroes.

Something to note. Sentry is fucking insanely powerful, but at the end of the day. Even though they stalemated for a second. He didn't fight world breaker hulk there. After they both stalemated Hulk came back out with no problems from the fight and was about to break the entire 7 continents with a singular footstep.

In the history of comics, the ‘heroes’ are usually the closed minded ones. Jumping to conclusions at first chance. Which is why the trope of hero fighting hero then teaming up with hero exists.

I honestly miss the old representation of hulk so much. It sucks to see him remain just the sort of one consistent size. Where as like before, he was continuously growing bigger and bigger mass wise until the peak of the fight was reached and then he’d end it or vice versa of whatever means. It seems that around gladiator hulk, is when they slid the subtle nuance of it not so much being a thing any longer in there.
I understand the “ one” sizing better retains his character but it’s the sort of same thing as how kryptonite doesn’t affect Superman as much as it did back in his original establishment. And they never retconned or spoke about that shift in how it affects Superman either. That same like between the two things.
Hulk was just so much better when his level of anger along the scale also determined his mass. Rather then just hey i’m the same size, but somehow I hit harder then I did a minute ago. The change in mass sort of had the equilibrium to his growing anger/strength

Despite what fans may tell you, or things have happened over the years, always remember that it was Stan and Kirby's original intention for Hulk to represent the strongest thing Marvel universe has to offer. When ever a writer for a Hulk comic goes seemingly bonkers with what Hulk can do, just remember, that's what he was originally intended for. A reminder to humanity about the folly of playing with the most destructive forces in the universe (Bruce's gamma bomb) and what it can lead to; in a way Hulk's inception very much mirrors the original writers of Godzilla and what the lizard was meant to represent (the folly/consequences of using nuclear weaponry).

Technically both Sentry and Hulk lost this battle. Technically the human form of Hulk (Bruce Banner) knocked out the human form of Sentry (Robert Reynolds) after both Hulk and Sentry were turned off. Facts.
Becuse Sentry was stupid and traded punches he should had used speed hes faster then light i think so hulk could not hit him if flied around and punched him!

Hulk also had to talk him down before he accidentally killed everyone, then they turned human. Bruce beat Bob, but The Hulk did not beat The Sentry.

Green Scar is the definition of OP, he beat everybody, from fan favourite team such as X-Men, prep masters such as Reed Richard, to Sentry which let go and didn't hold back, and was the last man stand.
He didn't beat everyone some people he simply couldn't beat with his strength like Ghost rider for example or Sentry he has to talk sentry down to beat him not punch him to death and it was an unstable sentry.
@@cheeseburgerfreddy6350he did beat Ghost Rider, it's Zarathos who found him innocent and left him, I highly doubt that the writers intended Sentry to be unstable, he look pretty confident in this fight, and he still lost.

he was obviously unstable when he was sitting in his apartment, and refused to leave it, that's the part where he was unstable, when he rushed toward Hulk he was confident, wasn't afraid, and he still lost, Green Scar is unbeatable, that's how he was portrayed in this story.

Props to the writers for giving the Sentry a counter balance/vulnerability in the Void. But as far as im concerned he will always be a joke character. A ham fisted attempt to make a marvel Superman, and an upper limit hero to challenge. You cant create a God out of nowhere and think he improves the Marvel power economy.
Altho i did enjoy the original story where the Sentry had a machine that calculated if he saved 40 people here, 20 people die somewhere else on the planet.
What I find very interesting is that, even though the Sentry is indeed powerful (sheer force alone, as is World War Hulk), the Hulk could be killed or neutralized by any number of X-men mutants' powers. For instance, Kitty Pryde could phase through and place a deadly bomb in his brain or cause the Hulk to sink into and merge with the ground, and Nightcrawler's abilities could easily take the Hulk's body apart, piece by piece (explicitly demonstrated by villain Regent, who somehow stole all the X-Men's powers and easily defeated the Avengers, in a Spider-Man story)....😶

@@Men35960 true, for the X-men team (and X-Force and other X-teams that WWH took apart at the mansion). If the mutants had been on Genosha when WWH attacked, there would have been greater resistance, maybe? I would have really liked to see WWH fight Magneto, Magik, or the Juggernaut Colossus, among others....
Hulk rag dolled dozens of X-Men during WWH at a Level 1 power base , lucky for all involved he just reminded them that getting in his way was a very bad idea like he did with the Avengers n FF and anyone else stupid enough to fight him , he only had to up his power level for the Dr Stange/Demon and then again for his fight with Sentry ...... Just pray none of your precious X- Men never confront a Level 10 plus Hulk/Titan ..... oh and Banner already has nukes in Hulks head as a safeguard - but even he knows that will only hold him back for a little while.

Best marvel fight I have seen. Hulk knew he was in for some trouble. When sentry destroyed the ship, hulk looked like he had a face of suprisement and potentially fear. Despite the hulk being strong, he knew he would have to almost put everything into this fight just to keep up. Greatest fight I have seen.
except he didn’t hulk stated that he held back the entire fight whilst sentry was not
