I have one older version red metal fuel can like your oldest model with the metal rod attached to the lid. I also have 2 of a somewhat newer version red metal fuel cans. I configured a short piece of chain with medium fish line swivel to attach to the lid so I can spin it off without loosing the top. My buddy gave me 3 plastic fuel totes with the dang updated "safety spouts" which most folks hate. The plastic canisters can be punctured with a sharp object or have the plastic molded seam split after time....now use for non-eth fuel. They came in handy for our recent DERECHO and hurricane Beryl. My area was without power for close to a week ( including local gas stations ) so I learned that keeping my cans and vehicle fueled up is a high priority if a storm is approaching. Thanks Tim. I have 6 of the metal nato cans. Bought them for like $40 each online. One i ruined the lining by using it for washer fluid for my semi, easier to carry the one can than it was 5 1gal bottles, i now use it for waste oil between trips to the parts store to empty it. So ive got 25gal with my truck at all tes for long road trips or lawn equipment.
One thing ive learned with them is to tilt it back before opening so you dont get the fuel spray from them when they swell in warm temps, would probably be the same solution for the can you only put 4.5 gal in, just tilt back when opening and attaching the spout

    Are they sellable, collectable?

Look on eBay. There is a huge amount of people that don’t want the safety cans forced on them. Something I don’t have and didn’t mention in the video is NATO cans. They are basically what the Germans started with in the 1930’s. Still used today by NATO. Different spout, size and everything. Thank you watching.
